He came in reassured everyone that they are pushing to play finals again in 2026

That was just BS to calm the members

He's pushed May and more or less Petracca out the door. And now Oliver

Seems to me they are getting rid of older influential players and doing a reset of their culture

Oliver could be perfectly fine going into a new environment with a new set of standards (expectations)

Keep Gawn and Viney
He also had a meeting with McVee, who promptly left that meeting and requested a trade to Fremantle.

Sure they pushed May out the door because he's a deadset arseh*le and a cancer within any club, Oliver has had major major personal issues including shatting on a true great of the club Max Gawn. I fail to see where they're pushing Petracca out the door given he's the one that has instigated the move both last season and this current season.

Shatting....haven't heard that term before! :D

They could have easily said "No Christian, you're not going anywhere"

your mail was also adamant Dangerfield was 100% staying so you need better made up sources
That was also 10 years ago and we've since learnt he only told Phil Walsh, so maybe others at the club truly thought he would be staying. He's not posting anything outlandish about how we are guaranteed to get Petracca, just giving us info on what happened during our pitch to him, what is wrong with that? It's a rumours thread, I don't get this attacking of people supplying them

Apparently a few clubs have sniffed around Sholl, but I don't think there's any concrete interest in him.

Probably understandable because he spent near 3 years in our best 22 prior to this year and probably wouldn't cost much, so can see teams at the very least enquiring about him.
Sholl has AFL traits that will work in the right team. Runs all day, 2 sided player with great footskills and vision, has no problem finding the footy. Just a textbook outside mid style player.

I'd not be at all surprised if he finds a suitor, and plays round 1 next season. I would be surprised if he played round 1 in our side though.

What was sharting incident with Gawn?

Next year when he is OOC they don't really get a say... IMO the draw of home and the big money we will offer will be too hard to refuse. He would out and out be our no1 target next year and would have to take significant unders to stay in QLD

Wishful thinking. But Adelaide is hardly home. He's spent far more time in Brisbane and NT to call Adelaide "home".

Oliver thought he was just letting out a quiet fart when out for dinner with Gawn last year and instead let out a shart, which promptly caused major embarassment for Gawn and he stormed out in disgust.
Cracking story. Not sure why Gawn would be embarassed though 🤣

Yep, Petracca has some very legitimate grievances, he wanted out last year.

I think Melbourne thought they could fix it but obviously haven’t, and probably realise they are headed for a mini rebuild and it doesn’t make sense to keep a 30 year old on a big contract who doesn’t want to be there.

The commentary from some Melbourne posters around him is pretty gross. He nearly died and the club left him out to dry, I think he’s entitled to be aggrieved and want to look elsewhere.

I've been to Gold Coast several times, and you couldn't pay me enough to live there. Hot, humid, sticky... and that's just the tourists!
Yeah I hate the thought of training and playing there.

In terms of Footy weather, Adelaide is probably Australia's sweet spot.

Winters not too cold. Not a lot of rain.

WTF is wrong with you? Do you really struggle to determine which posters have credibility and don’t need to make shit up.

Just because you have no credible inside source doesn’t mean everyone is as bereft of info. Numb nut posters here hounded some previous good sources of intel and just wonder what insecurities motivate you to do so.

So if we get Oliver and Hollands - is it welcome to the crows behavioural correctional facility?
VB will leave the club in disgust. Hopefully anyway.

Agree on May

Oliver's best is past him and the game has changed. He has five years left on a big contract and every year his value is going down. They should of taken our offer two years ago or Geelong's last year.

Petracca still offers alot but again the game is slowly passing him and four years is a long time on big money. Like Oliver his value is going to keep decreasing.

I think they want a clean start and for different reasons they all carry baggage and now represent a past era in some way.

I think they doing are doing the right thing, sometimes everyone needs a change and they can continue to rejuvenate their list.

It's the reason Tex shouldn't be going on with us. It's a workplace after all, sometimes there needs to be change for everyone to move forward and get the best out of everyone. Doesn't mean they are not club legends.

The fact we have been working on the Petracca trade for months and he is 50/50 on his decision means he's going to Gold Coast. Maybe a good thing as Petracca seems passed it to me.
Giving Tex another year is peak AFC. Ridiculous. They will roll him out to sit in the goal square i guess.

Well whats the reality.

Gold Coast
  • Short History
  • two finals games
  • no real honour board of greats
  • a club with limited financial means and resources
  • a lack of fanfare and support
  • non sport city
  • fake influencer style culture
  • schoolies
  • drunks
  • medium sized city

If he is into surfing and wants to build his brand influencer style, have at it.
Plus Damien Hardwick, proven Premiership winning coach and they just won their first Final.

I like to think Petracca's choice will come down to where he thinks he best fits into the team and chances of success.

If his choice is surfing v Cafe cooking culture and that is a priority....I don't want him anyway.

But I think he is more interested in the Football choice over lifestyle. He ain't Orazio Fantasia.

Which concerns me.
