List management were comcerentd if we got Draper as FA we’d get nothing for ROB and cancel the benefit if acquiring a FA

Now we not only have a guaranteed 1st ruck (risk of being without either), if they land Draper then ROB will ask for a trade. We can extract full value, not only instead of losing him free but with the power of holding a contracted trade asset

List management and footy strategy 101, we maintain advantage. ROB can either request a trade as a contracted player and we cash in at the trade table or he stays at the club with increased selection pressure.

Clear win:win for the club.

What’s disappointing is that a leader of the group is too stupid to keep his thoughts to himself when it comes to being responsible for his form over the next 3 seasons.

How'd people feel about another Cornes being employed by the club? 🤔

Any Cornes that isnt Chad or Kane is fine by me. Can not under any circumstance have ex players employed at the club who have made it known they hate the club.

His after footy life earnings aren’t relevant, his words suggests that his footy motivation is strong. And I doubt he’s heading towards $800k+ in the real world. What’s become clear is that he’s insanely book smart, but unbelievably stupid. Sad that the best interests of the list doesn’t resonate with him and it’s all about himself.

Anyway, that’s exact what we’d expect from the failed senior culture at our club.
I doubt RoB is getting paid that much. He basically had to beg to get his contract.

And yes, if he does become a neuro surgeon, he will be on over $800 k in a public/picate sector mix.

There are surgeons in Adelaide earning over $1m a year.

His Masters is from Kings College in the UK.

Getting paid by the Crows is not a motivation for him.

And I would argue he is a "Moneyball" player. Rarely loses his position, is handy around the field. And his lesser salary (compared to Draper) allows a better player around him.

Mate - you are a really odd poster. You have a crazy infatuation claiming any player over 30 is selfish for playing footy.

Its been Smith, Laird, ROB and worst of all Walker.

Can't wait for 12 months from now for you to start calling ANB and Keays selfish because they have turned 30.

You have no idea what medical specialists earn in the real world clearly.

And re “failed senior culture” you are in a very tiny dim, negative, pessimistic minority with that view. It’s crap.

Doesn’t FA compo only look at the last year of contract? Pretty sure I read Drapers salary was front loaded meaning a material drop in salary this year and hence not qualifying as a RFA
They average out the confirmed income over the duration of the contract

It's a pretty scary midfield to build around if they keep Butters and get NWM.

Butters, NWM, JHF, Rozee and Drew. Gives them a solid foundation unfortunately.
They would be going down the same path as the Kangaroos, all their talent in the midfield group with one good forward and then not much else around the ground.

IF NWM chooses us AND we can do a deal for him, then to my eye, Dawson becomes the Tex replacement as he can do most of what tex does (contested marking, long goals and is a clever player) bit he has far greater mobility. If we landed NWM we could afford to play Dawson much more in the forward half than on ball going forward and that maintains the structure
Yeah I’ve thought the same. But Dawson still needs to play a lot midfield too imo. He is one of the best mids in the AFL. When Curtin becomes a full time mid, we could use Dawson and Curtin rotating in midfield and 3rd tall forward. Both are better contested markers than Tex, better at ground level, and beautiful kicks like Tex.

ROB’s facing 5-6 years of medical school (unpaid with a HECS debt), internship and junior resident years before/if he lands a 4-6 year trainee registrar job in neurology/neurosurgery to finally qualify well into his 40’s, so a long road to becoming a multi- millionaire yet.

Sorry I mistyped before possibly leading to confusion. I actually meant for Drapers current Bombers contract he had a reduced final year of salary which is why he wasn’t a RFA (top 25% of Dons salaries).

Eg Perhaps his 4 year contract was front loaded and paid an average of 700k the first 3 years and then only 300-400k in the last year. Probably doesn’t really matter and not really sure what point I am ultimately trying to make haha but important for List Managers to not make this mistake if it does actually work like this

So you saying we have him for 2 years?... where do we sign as if he helps us win a flag or 2, who cares what comes after that as its premierships that count..nothing else
I dont think many players have won flags and then asked to be traded to a team outside of finals. Id back us in to retain him after the initial contract

Oh it's happened quite a bit more than you think .....once you have that Premiership, some players then chase the money ...and the lower clubs have a lot more cash to splash

Does it mean they get two father-sons at once?
It’s certainly a different way of having twins.
I’d suggest the conventional way is better for team harmony.
