I regularly go outside at night to do some astrophotography with the telescope. Best time is on moonless nights. I have to use the laptop so the only real light is from the screen. One night at around 11pm, I was imaging away when this bloody huntsman crawls over the top of my laptop screen. Scared the absolute shit out of me! Lucky I didn't knock over the telescope!

At work last week we saw a spiders leg teasingly showing above a photo frame. We thought, oh yeah, probably not that big. We take the frame down to take a look. Holy ****. Biggest huntsmen....biggest spider ive seen in the flesh. Its body would have been the size of the palm of my hand. ****ing huge. Noone wanted to go near it. Took 3 days for anyone to get the guts to go after it and get it outside. It very nearly became my boss.

Gotta love the country. Also seen numerous brown snakes. Carrying a big box with someone else, had what would have been a 4 1/2 - 5 foot browny casually slide about 30cm in front of me which I only just noticed. Dropped the box, let out what would most probably be the most feminine noise to emenate from my mouth, twisted my ankle badly after half stepping on the box and ended up barrell rolling across the gravel. Thankfully it was running away because if it was an angry ****er it had every chance to latch onto my leg.

Daddy long legs....its like my bathroom has a nest of them, obviously does but more so this time of year!

I was going to use the toilet earlier today, had a change of heart when i spotted a spider on the wall . The photo doesn't do it justice, and is after i had sprayed the hell out of it with mortein, then fell on the ground :p.

I have not seen one this size in ages, usually the one's i come across are no bigger than a 20c piece, but usually 10c or smaller.

There is a spider right above my head right now as I write this. It's been all over the house the last week and now it's decided to plonk itself in my bedroom. How long do these things live for? I've only seen it just sitting there; no webs or anything as far as I can see...

We had a resident huntsman for 6 months before it go into the sugar and we were forced to kill the beast.

Wonderful. I'll be sure to pass on this news to my dear friend Emma (who probably won't venture outside her home for the next 6mths haha).

Actually, I like spiders. Hady pest controllers.

Got a real phobia with these *****. Now I have to check all the corners of my room to make sure there are none. Was always creeped out by them but it worsened when i sprayed a medium to large one on the ceiling, which made it lower itself about 30cm on its web, then start rocking back and fourth and then ****ing flung itself at me. I did let out a little yelp

Why would you do that?

If you want to kill it, just squash it...

Don't do that. There are many stories in this thread of people squashing them just to have 1000 babies burst out and skittle off to all parts of your house.
