Squad v GWS

I would have given Warren a game on the basis that he appeared to be the only one of our 18 or so players in the VFL last week that had a really strong game.

Although I do tend to agree somewhat with the crude, poorly written post above me that he probably doesn't have a huge future at this football club, with Edwards well above him these days.

Why would any- one want warren in the side for, he will not even be at the club in the next 2 years, should have been moved on already.

Maybe so, but Milky performed well for Werribee all last year for very little reward and as mentioned was one of the best for Werribee last week.

How is Ben Warren as a kick for goal?

On the Aaron Edwards end of the scale, or the Lindsay Thomas, or somewhere inbetween?

Im happy about the call......changes reflected on injuries, Theres a hell of alot of changes being called here after a high quality 3 point loss of a game last week. I hope Jack has a decent start next week because of you lot will be screaming for his head as well.Let this side settle in and see what happens. Im sure Pedo wont be too far away (form pending of course).

From memory he is pretty accurate, probably would kick them 80% of the time.
It's been awhile since he's had a good run in the seniors though.

this and this again.............afl-----------------vfl a distant 2nd
You cannot judge a player until they are given a game at the highest level.

Barlow stepped straight into AFL from VFL and averaged 28 disposals a game before breaking his leg.

Conversely there are plenty of top 5 picks who have done nothing over the years.

So you'd ignore team structure and just give him a game? Our forward line was hardly the issue last weekend. Almost every time it went in there we were scoring. The midfield was purely the reason we couldn't beat Essendon. Aside from Ziebell we already have our best mid fielders on the park. They just need time to all play together. First year since Brad's been here that Ziebell, Basti, Cunnington, Wells, Swallow etc are all fit to play in the same side.

I remember he was never that bad.. But then he'd struggle over 40m which is again something that gets exposed at AFL level. Shouldn't really be playing unless Edwards is injured.

Edwards struggles to make it from 50 as well - heaps of his shots fall short, even if straight...

Would have liked to have seen;
Delaney for Tarrant
Pederson for Mullett or Macmillan
Warren for Anthony (and made sub)

Start Goldstein in ruck and McIntoch bench - not to come until mid-second quarter in ruck. Plays majority of second half up forward to expose GWS lack of height down back and tired players.

But thats just me

The point of depth is that players outside the team need to be putting pressure on those in it. If they're not, unless you gamble on a structural mismatch, you don't reward poor form.

Has Bon addressed why Pedo is the twos? As I was traveling during most of the pre-season I don't know how he went in the NAB Cup, so I don't really know what's going on.

I would hate to see Milky as a sub. Subs have to come on and have an immediate impact. Milky's best trait is to lead all day and try his guts out.

If anyone was to come in to be sub for me that person would have to be Speighta.

Gee whiz you'd hate be on the outside of BS' purple circle action. Benny Warren, Cruise and Levi are ways ahead of some of the young bucks getting games. Warrens work rate is second to none and Cruises ability to get under a pack is exemplary. He might not get a lot of it and might get pushed aside, and offers slightly less than others once the ball travels above waist height, but by god he has presence, and it's presence that we lack in clubs.

I'm still reeling over the shock loss of Ross and the good looking one, Sex Ed. He's work under the packs was also froth worthy. Ross' revenge bag in the two's last year just shows how nonsensical all these selection decisions are come to by those 'in the know' wink wink. Obviously other clubs didn't want to highlight our mistake by nabbing him in the draft. But this year watch the bidding war take off, Werribee should get a nice little earner when Warren, Ross and Urquart leave for heaps more AFL gametime.

Our coaching staff??? Oh well, ...if you pay peanuts...

And it's no wonder why were so Petrie focused getting rid of ball tearer KP's like OBST and SMITH. what the **** were they thinking man?

Of which he has proven not be very good at at AFL level yet......

Speight doesn't deserve a game, Warren does - hence the sub comment at least to reward his form.

Don't rule out his source just yet, mckenzie is not playing VFL today which would mean he is the travelling emergency and could still be a late inclusion.
I hope Bmac gets a gig, extremely talented and i watched him last week against sandy and he was good.

I honestly believe that Milky would be as unsuited to being a sub as what a ruckman would.

His style of play is repeat leads, and busting his arse. He wouldn't bring pace or much midfield upside. If he only had a quarter to impact a game I really don't know that he could.

The reason that I listed Speight as my preferred sub is he HAS shown that at AFL level he can come on and have impact in limited time. He has pace, can play through the middle and knows where the goals are.

Don't get me wrong I am all for rewarding VFL form. The problem for Milky is that for his form to be rewarded he is going to have to unseat Edwards. If you are dropping Anthony who is meant to be a goal kicking mid, I am unsure why you would want to replace them with a HFF.

All fair enough, I agree mostly certainly its not a direct swap for Anthony in terms of positions (no bad thing though with how LA plays).

I personally think Warren can play with Edwards - might get LTs spot if he continues to kick out of bounds from 20m out......

Petrie up front and two hard leading/marking options (who can kick straight) on flanks with Campbell/Adams swooping might work well.

Yeah lets drop Thomas but keep Campbell. Good idea.

Team structure is what left him our last year and unless injuries arise, he'll probably remain outside the side this year. He might be taking Tarrant's spot on Sunday.
