Lance Franklin now has a 15-0 record against Melbourne. What's the most wins a player has had against a single side without a loss?

Thought I’d check Gary Ablett Snr. He was 18-1 v Richmond, then lost his last game to them, finishing 18-2. I know Collingwood never lost to University but they only played 14 times (13-1-0). Jock McHale played in each of those games.

The Bulldogs had three players with 40 or more disposals today (Lachie Hunter with 44 and Caleb Daniel and Jack Macrae with 40 each), apparently that's the first time that has ever happened.

2 rounds to go. Leading goal kicker (1920-), lowest goal average per game:

2.90 - Ben Brown, Jack Riewoldt (2018, so far)
2.95 - Jack Riewoldt (2012)
3.00 - Horrie Clover (1922), Tom Carroll (1961)
3.05 - Leigh Matthews (1975), Lance Franklin (2014)
3.09 - Jarryd Roughead (2013)
3.11 - Bill Young (1956), John Peck (1965)
3.14 - Lance Franklin (2017)

Lowest goal tallies for a Coleman Medal winner (1955-):
54 - Tom Carroll (1961)
56 - Bill Young (1956), John Peck (1965)
62 - Doug Wade (1962)
63.8 - Ben Brown, Jack Riewoldt (2018 projected)
65 - Jack Riewoldt (2012)
67 - Ian Brewer (1958), Ron Evans (1960), Leigh Matthews (1975), Lance Franklin (2014)
68 - John Peck (1964), Jarryd Roughead (2013)
69 - Ron Evans (1959), John Peck (1963), Lance Franklin (2017)

Tom Mitchell is on 729 disposals for the year, averaging 36.5 per game.

To average the most for a 22 game H&A season, he needs a further 59 disposals or 29.5 per game.

If Hawthorn play 1 final, he needs 32.3 per game to pass Matt Crouch's 825 disposals (inc. finals) in 2017.

If Hawthorn play 2 finals, he needs 24.3 per game to pass Matt Crouch's 825 disposals (inc. finals) in 2017.

Quite remarkable if true. Wonder if the reference was to period since Champion Data started mid/late 90s,
or if really whole era of stats for practically every game - 1965 onwards.

I just had a random check of 1971 and three times that year Collingwood had 2x 40+ in a game

I think we can be confident that in the period 1897-1964, no team ever had 3 players amass 40+ disposals in the same game.

His brother Geoff Ablett went 19-0 v Melbourne. (18-0 when at Hawthorn)

Bill Hutchison went W - D - 21W against St Kilda, so each of these 3 players had 21-game winning streaks against the Saints.

I know it took Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins until the 11th season of their careers (2017) to playing in a losing side against either Essendon or Richmond.

Geelong had not lost to Richmond at all since 2006, and Geelong's one loss to Essendon in that time (2011), Selwood and Hawkins had both missed the game.

Post #2176 in this thread was about winning matches with fewer scoring shots than opponents (ie, kicking straighter).

So far this year, the Swans have won 6 games where they have had fewer scoring shots - and lost none where they had more than their opponent.
They have had 2 games with identical numbers of shots - won one, lost one.

How does this stack up against the best-ever seasons?

Interestingly, of the 6 games they have won with fewer scoring shots, 5 were against Top-8 contenders (GWS, Hawks, Pies, Demons). They also kicked 11.1 against Richmond, which is probably the most accurate performance by a side for years (although they lost).

fewer scoring shots - equal best with Essendon 1984; five games has been done 20 times, from Collingwood 1903 to St.Kilda 2010.

more scoring shots - Essendon won all 24 of these games in 2000; Carlton 22 in 1995, four other clubs with 20/20

So I found this tweet... and somehow these guys have got in-game actions back to 2001. Previously this has always been only back to 2008 on sites like AFL Tables.

Could make for some more interesting records if it can be implemented into AFL Tables somehow? *Paul*

Of the current 18 AFL coaches, 12 of them during their careers as players, played against Fitzroy, including Ken Hinkley who played both for and against Fitzroy, whilst Ross Lyon also played for Fitzroy. Stuart Dew, Simon Goodwin and Brad Scott all debuted as players in 1997, the year after Fitzroy's final season. Goodwin's predecessor as coach, Paul Roos, played for Fitzroy. This leaves two coaches who played no AFL football, Chris Fagan and Brendan Bolton. Bolton's predecessor as coach, John Barker, played for Fitzroy, whilst Fagan's predecessor, Justin Leppitsch, played against Fitzroy.

Who were they? I'm guessing the 15 year old in 1977 was Tim Watson, but the others?

1996 = David Wirrpanda.
2008 = Brad Ebert.

Geelong kicked 23 'unanswered' goals vs St Kilda in 1899 (23.24-162 vs 0.1-1)

And I'm sure there have been longer streaks than that. The Bears led the Swans 19 golas to 0 at half-time at the Gabba in 1993, and I'm sure they kicked the first 6 after the break as well. I heard the scoreline on the radio - 164 to 4 - you don't forget that sort of thing in a hurry.

I can't understand why the AFL were ever spruiking 17 or 18 as a record - did they have some sort of qualifier on it?
