Question and apologies if already asked but I didn't see anything at the time the game was played.

West Coast 16.5.101
d St. Kilda 14.4.88

Two teams scoring at least 14 goals in a game and neither scored more than 5pts. Has this ever happened before that both teams have been so accurate?
As suggested by the red+black post, there has never been another game where both teams scored at least 14 goals and neither scored more than 5pts.

I don't recall there being any discussion about the very accurate goalscoring in this game (maybe I just missed it?!), which under the circumstances is rather surprising!

While not so much a stats question but a stats request or 2 *Paul*.

What about a 2 separate pages showing say the records of all players born in a particular year and those who debuted in a particular year.

Each lot of columns can be clickable to show who's leading each stat count.

E.g. Jack Gunston's 300 odd goals is the most by someone born in 1991 while Brendon Goddard is leading the most games played by someone born in 1985 and also has the most games played by someone who debuted in 2003.

I hope this makes sense.

In Carlton's last 36 games, i.e., since Round One 2017, they have produced 686 scoring shots, an average of just 19.05 a game.

During this period, they have not had more than 27 shots in any particular match, and that 27-shot match featured four more scoring shots than any other match in this time, almost rendering it something of an outlier.

So I guess I'm wondering, how does does Carlton's attacking impotence compare to other similarly offensively-challenged sides of "modern" times, i.e., excluding the early years of the game where scores were obviously much lower across the board. Carlton are only averaging 18 scoring shots per match after 14 matches of the 2018 season. Are they on record-low pace?

Average Scoring Shots Per Game - 1970-2018 (Bottom 5):
GWS 2012 16.4
Melbourne 2014 17.5
Carlton 2018 18.0
Gold Coast 2018 18.2
Melbourne 2013 18.6

The last time Carlton's figure was lower was in 1904 (14.4). However, this year's average for all teams is only 23.0, the lowest figure since 1966 (22.8).

Question: Have Melbourne ever won interstate on a Friday night? Was thinking about it during their recent game against Port Nd couldn't recall it happening.

Quick one - in Rd 14, 97,

Coll 9.26 (80) d. Geel 10.12 (72) & BL 7.26 (68) d. Rich 7.8 (50)

Is this the only instance where two teams (winning or losing) have each kicked at least 26 behinds or more in the same round?

It's happened in 5 rounds:

1944 Rd. 13: Hawthorn 10.2 (62) vs. Carlton 13.28 (106) & South Melbourne 8.30 (78) vs. Geelong 8.8 (56)

1946 Rd. 18: Richmond 16.29 (125) vs. Carlton 13.15 (93), Collingwood 17.26 (128) vs. Geelong 7.11 (53) & Footscray 23.27 (165) vs. Hawthorn 8.5 (53)

1978 Rd. 13: Essendon 12.26 (98) vs. Collingwood 14.21 (105) & Fitzroy 19.27 (141) vs. Melbourne 8.13 (61)

1981 Rd. 12: North Melbourne 13.12 (90) vs. Essendon 18.29 (137) & Melbourne 13.12 (90) vs. Fitzroy 17.32 (134)

1997 Rd. 14: Geelong 9.26 (80) vs. Collingwood 10.12 (72) & Brisbane 7.26 (68) vs. Richmond 7.8 (50)

There's been 129 cases of teams scoring 26+ behinds in a game. It was Geelong (not Collingwood) with 26 behinds in the 1997 game.

After winning 10 games in a row, West Coast has now lost 3 straight games (with the possibility of extending this streak).

What is the longest losing streak for a club directly after winning 10 or more consecutive games?

Sydney have kicked 9.5 and 11.1 in their last two games. When did a team last kick fewer than 10 behinds across two consecutive games?

Instances of Breust and Gunstan kicking 9+ goals?

Lions have only won 3 games but all by 50 points+ through 16 rounds. Has this happened before?

No, although a few clubs won 3 from 15 and had a higher average winning margin.

Brisbane 1993 - 63.7 (2, 27, 162)
Melbourne 1966 - 61.3 (34, 58, 92)
Fremantle 2016 - 59.7 (79, 83, 17)
Brisbane 2018 - 58.7 (73, 64, 55)
Hawthorn 2005 - 46.3 (46, 39, 54)

Fitzroy won 10 games, then lost the next four across seasons 1920-21, drew, then lost two more.

Carlton also won 10 in a row across 1942-43, then lost their next four.

10 - 2016 R7 (Breust 6 Gunston 4), 2018 R16 (Breust 6 Gunston 44)

Thanks, (slight typo in line 1). Not exactly what I asked for with the bottom 3. But looking back I didn't word the question correctly.

Should have asked: Instances of Breust or Gunstan and 1 other player kicking 10+ goals? (qual. Breust or Gunstan kicking 4+ goals). Looks like just a couple instances:
10 - 2013 R13 (Gunston 5 Roughead 5)
10 - 2013 R16 (Gunston 5 Roughead 5)
