In the last couple of weeks Pavlich "solely" defeated GWS and WCE by kicking more than the oppositions score. How often has this happened in the past and recently? I'm thinking it has probably happened alot more in the past when one FF would kick over 50% of goals in their team.

When Freo registered a score of 1 7 13 in 2009, about 5 players topped that tally.

I have this as 17, examining which showed Carlton's three single figure scores in a row v Ess, the only such occurrence.

Ah, right you are. My query produced a list with a running total after each match, and I filtered it manually to leave only the highest tally for each sequence. Another boo-boo. Thanks Paul.

When Fremantle played Collingwood in round 15, 1997, they only had two goalscorers for the day. These two players, Kingsley Hunter (7.1) and Andrew Wills (2.2) also ended up being their only scorers, though there were 3 rushed behinds. Are there any other known instances of a team having only two scorers, including or excluding rushed behinds?

Melbourne have restricted GWS to 0.1 in two third quarters this year (and the point today was rushed).

Has any side ever kept the same team scoreless twice in the same quarter in one year or did we roll ourselves out of an all-time record with that rushed point?

Carlton kept St Kilda scoreless in the the 3rd quarter in rounds 4 and 17 (last sectional match) of 1904.
Collingwood kept Carlton scoreless in the 2nd quarter of all 3 matches they played against them in 1899.
Collingwood kept Carlton scoreless in the 2nd quarter in 2 matches in 1900 and 2 matches in 1902.
Collingwood kept Melbourne scoreless in the 2nd quarter in 2 matches in 1898
Collingwood kept Richmond scoreless in the 2nd quarter in 2 matches in 1927 including the grand final.
Collingwood kept St Kilda scoreless in the 4th quarter in 2 matches in 1897 and twice in the 3rd quarter in 1898.
Collingwood kept Sydney/SM scoreless in the 2nd quarter twice in 1918 including the grand final.
Essendon kept Carlton scoreless in the 3rd quarter twice in 1897 and 1898 - twice in the 2nd quarter in 1900 - twice in the last quarter in 1908 including the grand final.

The list goes on and on, the most recent haven been:
Geelong in 1965 kept WB/Footscray scoreless twice in the 4th quarter and Collingwood scoreless twice in the 3rd quarter in 1961.

Here are Melbourne's
Carlton twice in the 3rd quarter in 1899
Fitzroy twice in the 3th quarter in 1899
St Kilda twice in the 3rd quarter in 1898 and twice in the 2nd quarter in 1900, twice in the 3rd quarter in 1901

It's a pity Melbourne rushed that 1 point, it would have added another GWS feat that fits in with their other 'records' this year that seemingly were long relegated to distant past eras.

504 times alltime (with the lack of pre-74 behinds as usual)
28 since 2000, and five this season.
Biggest margin 66 http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/games/1919/151619190726.html
Gordon Coventry did it 17 times, of more recent times Dunstall 9, Lockett 6, current players Milne & N.Riewoldt 3

Not spending much time on BF cos I really hate the new software. Old search function was better, we're down to a mere 25 posts per page now, mobile software hardly works, etc etc. If forum access required a paid membership, I'd be gone for good.

Anyway, much talk about the fixture this year. Which sides in recent years have played each other the least? Say last 10 years. And of those, which teams have been the (genuine) away team the least?

eg. How many teams have played each other 13 times at most during the H&A season in the last 10 years?
Essendon v Geelong, last 10 years, 12 games
Essendon v North, last 10 years, 11 games

Conversely, which teams have played each other the most in the last 10 years, ignoring the obvious combos, Carl/Coll/Ess, Adel/Port, WCE/Freo.

NB: All questions relate solely to H&A matches, thus ignore finals.

^^

10 Carlton v Western Bulldogs
11 Brisbane v Fremantle, Essendon v North Melbourne, Hawthorn v St.Kilda
12 Adelaide v Carlton/Essendon/Hawthorn/Sydney, Brisbane v Richmond, Carlton v Geelong/West Coast, Essendon v Geelong/Melbourne/Port, Fremantle v Hawthorn, North Melbourne v Richmond, Port v Sydney/Western Bulldogs
...
17 Adelaide v Fremantle, Carlton v Richmond, Fremantle v St.Kilda, Hawthorn v North Melbourne/Port Adelaide
19 Brisbane v Sydney

And this year, GC are lining up against Carlton for the first time in Rd 22.

As a contrast to last year when they met in Round 2.

Also first timers for this year, Brisbane vs Port Adelaide, St Kilda vs GWS, Melbourne vs Adelaide and North Melbourne vs Fremantle.

That leads to the question 'what is the greatest number of days/weeks between two clubs playing eachother twice?'.

The most obvious answer to the above question would be to say that Melbourne had approximately 1350 days (approx. 193 weeks) in between playing certain opponents when they were out of the competition during 1916, 1917 and 1918 due to being absent through World War I. No doubt Ron or Rogers or *Paul* will provide a more detailed response for when wars did not play a part.
