Saints star Steven King 'hit me'

  • AN assistant restaurant manager claims St Kilda ruckman Steven King attacked him without provocation in the early hours after Grand Final day.
The former Geelong captain - who marries his fiancee in Bali today - is facing a compensation claim of up to $100,000 in Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
The alleged victim launched the civil action on Friday after claiming he was offered free football tickets as compensation.
No criminal charges have been laid and King's manager, Ricky Nixon, said: "I have investigated (the claims) and don't think that Steven has any concerns."
King could not be contacted because he is in Bali to wed model Danielle Atkin.

The alleged victim's lawyer, Larry Dent, of Arnold Thomas & Becker, said the alleged attack was "extraordinary".
He said his client "John" - who does not want to be identified - was shocked by the incident.
John claimed St Kilda offered him a few free football tickets, while Mr Nixon made an "inadequate" offer.
He made a statement to police on Monday, but officers would not confirm any investigation on Friday, saying they would comment only if charges were laid.
Mr Dent said his client alleged he was assaulted by King twice in Fitzroy St, St Kilda, in the early hours of September 29.
John was with a friend from Chile, whom he was urging to follow football, when he saw King and called out a greeting, Mr Dent said.
He said King allegedly hit John in the throat and he fell to the ground outside the Robata bar.
"John recovered and started to walk to his car, which was co-incidentally in the same direction as Mr King had walked," he said.
"Mr King was with another man and this man started remonstrating with my client in a most aggressive manner.
"Mr King came up behind the other man and threw a punch, hitting John in the face."
The alleged attack was not provoked and his client was not drunk, he said.
"John recognised Mr King and called out 'Hey, Kingy, how are you going?'," he said.
"It is possible Mr King thought John was involved in the earlier argument."
He said John suffered throat and facial injuries, a black eye, bruising and shock and was claiming aggravated and punitive damages.
St Kilda spokesman Matt Schmidt said he was aware of an allegation against King, but denied the club had offered football tickets to the alleged victim.

Sounds like young Steven has had a bit of a shocker here allegedly. Might cost him a few quid. This would compare fairly poorly against Alan Didak's actions would have thought. I wonder whether it will get the same overkill Alan got. I bet it doesn't. Let's see how fair and reasonable the media and the public are on this one........after all, according to the story he has allegedly assaulted an innocent individual and you would imagine getting hit in the throat by someone of Steven's size would tickle more than a little bit. Let's see how it pans out.....

I like how you VERY SUBTLY managed to use this as some kind of 'FREE ALAN DIDAK' device. It's lucky you went about it discretely or else it would be painfully obvious to anyone who reads this that you are pushing an agenda. :thumbsu:

Interesting. I suppose it will get a similar treatment to the Dean Brogan/crows fan incident.

Poor, poor Alan. He didn't mean to get in that car with hudson and then lie about it, then get in that other car with a drunk heath shaw, pull a runner, and lie about that too....

"John then proceded to enter his vehicle and drive his sick, ailing mother to Church where he was to conduct the Sunday Mass. John is currently researching the cure to cancer and at night has been known to take on the secret identity of Superman where he spends his time protecting the city of Melbourne from crime."

Sounds like a decent sort. Couldn't possibly be trying to milk a nothing incident for all it's worth. :thumbsu:

LOL.

So, a minor assault allegation by an un-named individual seeking civil redress is now somehow equal to a bloke having been proven in the Supreme Court, and by his own admission, to have been in the company of an ice addict and member of an international organised crime gang who days later murdered a man in cold blood when a firearm was discharged.

Punching someone vs. sitting in a car.

Relativity.

Ha ha ha ha. Oh well, if I had have posted the story by itself it would have been boring because King is past it and no one really cares. I did have an agenda though......I honestly am interested to see how much air time this is going to get. A $100k claim for assault, and an alegation that St.Kilda tried to make it go away by offering footy tickets, is a reasonable story, Alan didak aside.

You certainly took the positive out of that article. I like you're style

Well it was the only part of the story I know is fact.

If it happened on Fitzroy Street I would imagine there's video footage of the incident. The truth will probably come out in time.

As for the allegations against the club, well they are denying that. TBH, if they are lying I would consider that worse than the offer itself (bit like the Didak situation).

Agree. That certainly would be a scandal

Interesting post on the Geelong board on this story...

e: King hit King got the absolute crap punched out of him at a Geelong nightclub one night a few years back.

He put a bikies jacket on that was hanging on a chair and was told by the bikie to take it off, King just laughed at the bloke and refused, then he was warned a 2nd time but King being the drunken ******** smart a$$ that he is refused again, the rest is history.... what an idiot.

From all of the Geelong footballers i've seen out over the years King is by far the worst drunk i've ever seen.

I had words with him myself one night, which i won't go into detail, but i can tell you on that particular night he got escorted out by the bouncers a short time later.

Not one of his teamates that were there with him on the night even stuck up for him due to the fact that they all know how much of a ****wit he is on the sauce.

I hope he gets what he deserves if he's proven guilty in this latest indiscretion, a long time coming as far as i'm concerned.

We don't know King ounched anyone.

We do know Alan Didak was there when Christopher Hudson discharged a firearm.

I'd rather risk a punch from King than be in the vicinity of Hudson when the rounds start flying.

For what its worth, I do agree with you that Didak seems to be an impulsive but hardly sinister hoon who got himself into the mother of all wrong place at the wrong time situations when he drunkenly made that shit decision. He doesn't deserve to be hanged for it.

At the same time, there are people who've got themselves into a lot more trouble just because they were in the same room/car as genuinely bad men when shit went down.

But people trying to somehow conflate this - unproven - incident with what Didak did, or more importantly witnessed and did not report, is bullshit of the highest order.

Arrh, so this is personal to you.

Explains a fair bit.

BTW, getting into a dust up and punching a guy <<<<<<<<<<< getting into a car where shots are fired. But that is just my opinion:cool:

Ahh................we have found your motives for the thread!

It's obvious King was being harassed.......as is the case in 99% of these incidents.
You would think that a bloke that plays a physical game & gets niggled on the ground week in week out would be able to walk away but sometimes you just get some idiots that just want to give them trouble.
For some unknown reason, you sound very much like the type!

Leave the players alone!

Actually, where is your link to the OP????? Whoever wrote the article deserves to be mentioned. It is actually polite to do so.

All too hard I guess?:D

It would be a standard operating procedure to actually use the quote function if you were quoting someone, even if it is on another board. If you do not, then you run the risk of those words being attributed to yourself. Dangerous that;)

As for your childish name calling attack, I find that as funny the thought that King's actions are worse than any of Alan Didak's.

Thanks for your input:thumbsu:

No probs. When you fail to read the opening line of a post, in this case the most relevant one, you also leave yourself open.

Can you send me the standard operating procedures? Is there a Bigfooty users manual?
