you cant really just blame Nick because, it not just him its the other midfielders aswell that also need to present themselves, hes doing a great job i think on my opinion.

If we trade stevens for a pick, then pencil us in for next years spoon.

Exactly. We're getting top 15 picks every year anyway. It's not like we're desperate for more. We could actually use a few more players like Stevens at the club. - We need some hard bodied experienced midfielders to help us get over the line in matches.

If we're always rebuilding then we'll never improve...

Can relate to what you say about top 15 picks but hard bodied midfielders. Are you talking about Nick here? He is solid enough but hard bodied is questionable as is his willingness to use it in a hard way.

I believe that Scotland and Murphy have both performed far better than Nick this year. Whilst both these guys are talented at this point in his career Nick should be outperforming them. Once again however I am not saying his is terrible just that he is well below what he should be achieving.

He's big enough to break a tackle, and can run all day. He wasn't the reaon we lost the game against West Coast. Infact, I thought he kicked the match winner in that last term. If there were more experienced players around him, we wouldn't have lost that game.

I believe at this stage Nick only runs hard forward and not defensivly. That goal against WC was fantastic but the sort of energy that went into that play is rare from Nick. It is what he should and could be doing much more of.

He is perhpas big enough and quick enough to break tackles but rarely does. In fact he gets many of his possessions from running past or finding space to receive passes. Blackwell is showing signs that he may be the mid fielder that will win hard ball for us and play with real passion. Time will tell.

A hard ball winner is a bit different to the type of midfielder Nick Stevens is. I classify Stevens as a clearance player, as is Marc Murphy. You still need toughness to be a clearance player though. A player I'd call a receiver is Scotland. - But he's a damn good one.

You're right about our defensive efforts though. It needs to improve. Personally I think the effort itself has improved this year, but our strength and tackling skills need to get better. Surely that will come in time though.

Stevens is our leading clearance player (averages 4.3). Scotland is 5th (2.7). Murphy 6th (2.4).

Scotland gets the most handballs received. Stevens 2nd most. They're also equal 2nd for hard ball gets (Houla 1st).
