This is really shitty news :( Stevo is a MASSIVE loss for us.

Great to have Thommo and Stiffy back (I thought he was supposed to play for Port Adelaide this week  ) but losing Stevo is a massive loss. We lose SO much flexibility its not funny!

I would have been disappointed if Walker was dropped, the forward line more than any other position on the field is where we are lacking and you need time to "learn the craft" you wont learn it by playing spasmodically there. We carried Tippett in many games last year so glad to see us sticking with Walker, doing this is the only way forward for development of these players.

Otherwise we spend the year half developing player and half chasing wins by playing the "same ol' brigade" and get nowhere.

Spot on. His last 2 trial games were very good, he has 1 quiet game and hes dropped?? It would also help if his team mates honoured his leads and could hit a target.

Walker just needs as many AFL games in him as possible. He will continue to improve and you know he will make the most of his opportunities... just look at his first kick as proof. That was a ridiculous goal.

I hope he goes out and kicks a bag now.

unlucky for Cook however he will be back bigger and better :thumbsu:

Stevo will be a loss however we can cover him and I am sure he will be back for our rnd 3 clash

Spot on about Stevens, Stiffmeister. He can be a goalkicker or play a principal role as a defender.

Actually without him our forward line looks light on taking form into account. Tippett was our worst player last week, Walker had only a moderate influence and Hentschel's best work was in defence. Off memory we had the majestic tally of 3 goals from these key forwards which means for us to win this week we need a considerable lift from these 3 or get the goals elsewhere.

Fortunately we look really strong in the on-ball brigade with Thommo's return and Stiffy adds more run from the back-lines to support Macca, Bock and Otten in that department.

Cook was always going to be the new boy to miss, given that Petrenko played so well and Dangerfield started to play with some authority in his game as his fitness improves. He'll be back though as injury presents opportunities.

The night game will help us IMO and in a dour game I think we'll get home by 2 to 3 goals.

I just have to say what a brilliant win last week! :D

We havent beaten the Saints at home since round 17 2003 when Stiffy absolutley destroyed them with like 6 goals for what I can remember. But the Saints can play terrible, ugly football at times so yeah we are a chance to pay them back for ending our finals chances last year, won't be easy. Good luck guys on Friday. Not good to see Stevens go out, he played every game in 07 and 08. But he'll be back.

The Crows have started 2-0 in only 3 seasons in their history. 1993, 1996 and 2002.

The Crows have dropped 7 of their last 10 opening games at home (home games in round 1 or round 2).

So we're due for a win? ;)

The best chance the Saints have is if the light showers are gone by the arvo, Gardiner & King dominate and their midfield take full advantage of that ruck domination.

However that's unlikely so the Crows should have a good win.

I'm looking forward to seeing Danger, Tex and Petrenko play at AAMI for the first time, discounting the pre season game, should be good fun :)

Watc both of their leadership skills off the ball, great!

I will be indeed! Looking forward to watching Otten as well, the game against the Hawks last year doesn't really count for me seeing he was on all of a minute!

What're the chances of Stiffy lining up up forward?

Between Macca/Bock/Otten/Truck/Goody we're getting plenty of run out of the backline - don't really need Johncock back there too.

Good point, could also see Petrenko maybe spending more time up forward as well.......

To be fair, we haven't had a home-and-away match against them at AAMI stadium in five years.

Unlucky Stevens he should be back next week though.

Johncock and Thompson are massive inclusions, and we should win this I will be dissapointed if we drop this game now.
