That damn number 24 jumper is cursed. First Croady now Stratts.
Can't wait to se him back.
Gee there has been some injuries this year already, to all clubs. Guess had to cop our whack at some stage.
Go Stratts. Go Hawks.
Langford played alright in it though.Aint that the truth - what about all the injuries that plagued Peter Knights, probably cost him a Brownlow..
Ryan is still recovering from an achilles injury that has interrupted his pre-season. Very harsh on him there. Not disputing it is a PCL however, that was not a standard garden variety PCL.
That was an horiffic injury and I have no doubt that there are going to be a lot more factors at play, other tendons and soft tissues, rather than just recovering from the PCL in isolation.
Get him 100%, if that means he doesnt play again this year then so be it.
Ryan Schoenmakers has to stand up and be the replacement, if he isnt, then it is likely that there is a dark cloud forming over Schoey's long term future at Hawthorn.
I really hope I am wrong but my spidey senses are tingling and not in a good way.
Best of luck to Stratts - hard to believe he's such a quality defender after only one season with the hawks. Reads the play incredibly well, and seldom ever makes mistakes in the back half, which makes him a seriously valuable player.
Looked a very bad knee injury, all things considered, wouldn't be surprised if it's a season ender, considering ligaments, tendons, tissue, knee structure, strengthening, getting fitness back etc.
Not all doom and gloom. Murphy was good for long periods last season, and with Gibson-Gilham-Murphy across the back half, we should still be pretty right. Our 2008 Flag side only had Croad/Gilham (with Hodge floating and Murphy sometimes) for the monster forwards anyway...
Great to see him be so stoic also. Shows he kept his head, even in intense pain. Mum and Dad would be proud, as are all Hawk fans.
PS - Stratts may need some coaching reprogramming for wet weather. Saw him attack a contest in the first quarter (southern side 50m line) similar to how he did his knee in the third. When players are diving across legs looking for frees, you can't smash in with your legs upright and exposed like he did. I know he was trying to kick the ball off the ground, but the option wasn't right. Could hurt himself, or kick someone's head off.
Yeah, that was just a point of historical interest, by no means a curse on Ben..Langford played alright in it though.
I'm just hoping Ben will be up & about when he is fully fit & ready. I'd be amazed if they rushed him back.
The opportunity is now there for someone else.
I would love him back in that defence. However his long term future is the most important thing. Getting him back to his recent form.
About 12 weeks for a PCL. However there are other issues, we will see over the next week what the club have to say about it. All I want is their honesty. If it's 12 months, just tell us. Don't say how its a "rare injury", "we're hopeful he will be back mid-season" etc
Positive news from Haley![]()
Hale dosen't know what his talking about. It's not just a PCL injury, it's a ruptured PCL. 4 weeks? LOL. - minimum 3 months best case scenario.

Just reported on the herald sun that he is going in for surgery and that he will be out for at least 12 weeks, possibly the season!
