Stratton: Dislocated Knee

That damn number 24 jumper is cursed. First Croady now Stratts.

Can't wait to se him back.

Gee there has been some injuries this year already, to all clubs. Guess had to cop our whack at some stage.

Go Stratts. Go Hawks.

From my experience with knee injuries, I think it will be a bit of guess work until he has started running again. Then you will get a true indication of the movement, strength and response of the knee, and will have a much clearer picture of when he will return. Then there is also the player's confidence in truly testing it out.

Experiences can really vary from person to person, so while the doctors will have a pretty good idea, and most likely a minimum length out, it wont necessarily be the same for Stratts.

In terms of replacement, I would think Murphy would be given first chance, with Hodge to spend some more time in the backline. With the continuity from Burgoyne, the resurgence of Sewell, and positive form of Mitchell, Lewis, Shiels and Rioli, I think we will take the experienced option down back and then just back ourselves to win more of the ball and outscore our opponent.

While the personnel hasn't changed much, our midfield hasn't looked this sharp collectively in the last 2 years.

Aint that the truth - what about all the injuries that plagued Peter Knights, probably cost him a Brownlow..
Langford played alright in it though.

I'm just hoping Ben will be up & about when he is fully fit & ready. I'd be amazed if they rushed him back.

The opportunity is now there for someone else.

Not disputing it is a PCL however, that was not a standard garden variety PCL.
That was an horiffic injury and I have no doubt that there are going to be a lot more factors at play, other tendons and soft tissues, rather than just recovering from the PCL in isolation.
Get him 100%, if that means he doesnt play again this year then so be it.
Ryan Schoenmakers has to stand up and be the replacement, if he isnt, then it is likely that there is a dark cloud forming over Schoey's long term future at Hawthorn.
I really hope I am wrong but my spidey senses are tingling and not in a good way.
Ryan is still recovering from an achilles injury that has interrupted his pre-season. Very harsh on him there.

Best of luck to Stratts - hard to believe he's such a quality defender after only one season with the hawks. Reads the play incredibly well, and seldom ever makes mistakes in the back half, which makes him a seriously valuable player.

Looked a very bad knee injury, all things considered, wouldn't be surprised if it's a season ender, considering ligaments, tendons, tissue, knee structure, strengthening, getting fitness back etc.

Not all doom and gloom. Murphy was good for long periods last season, and with Gibson-Gilham-Murphy across the back half, we should still be pretty right. Our 2008 Flag side only had Croad/Gilham (with Hodge floating and Murphy sometimes) for the monster forwards anyway...

Great to see him be so stoic also. Shows he kept his head, even in intense pain. Mum and Dad would be proud, as are all Hawk fans.

PS - Stratts may need some coaching reprogramming for wet weather. Saw him attack a contest in the first quarter (southern side 50m line) similar to how he did his knee in the third. When players are diving across legs looking for frees, you can't smash in with your legs upright and exposed like he did. I know he was trying to kick the ball off the ground, but the option wasn't right. Could hurt himself, or kick someone's head off.

Noticed that when I watched the replay yesterday. Cringed/ looked away/ held my breath all at the same time.

Sickening vision and terrible luck for the young fella. Top class kid on and off the field who has slotted in fantastically within the backline.

The injury will take a while and let's hope that he makes a 100% recovery and if that takes all season so be it. A potential 200 gamer IMO.

I would love him back in that defence. However his long term future is the most important thing. Getting him back to his recent form.

About 12 weeks for a PCL. However there are other issues, we will see over the next week what the club have to say about it. All I want is their honesty. If it's 12 months, just tell us. Don't say how its a "rare injury", "we're hopeful he will be back mid-season" etc

lisle should be considered giving us the flexability to swap with roughy forward and back
miss you already stratts
dont rush in this gun player to soon!!

rotten luck but we must pick ourselves straight back up.

premierships are not given they are earnt the hard way. These things along the way test your resolve and the playing group.

We have seen savage and shiels step up to the plate when given an opportunity. Whos it going to be????????

Gilham must stand up and take the big scalps down again as he did in 08. if this happens Gibbo, Murphy, Birchall ect should have the smarts and experience to swap and change matchups as required to hold us together.

Injuries are a given and its how we handle them will determine our fate this year.

Helter Skelter boys. Its your time.

Hale dosen't know what his talking about. It's not just a PCL injury, it's a ruptured PCL. 4 weeks? LOL. - minimum 3 months best case scenario.

Not dissin you mate but I think Hale is a bit closer to the team and is in a better position to make comment. Lets just sit back and hope he recovers well.
