He is not the first player to be unprofessional. Surely, there is a process which which is conveyed to the player and if breaches agreements he is omitted suspended fined - this becomes public and the focus remains on his football professionalism.

Remember this is a player who pays for himself because of the membership and crowds he draws.

You don't handle it so that he becomes the subject of this madness and devalue him by the day.

Or

The club has moved on from the days where they let their best player bang a teammates wife, only to move on the teammate.

Also, why the hell would we base list management decisions on if a guy draws a crowd? Who cares? If it puts the club in a better position to win games should be the only factor.

the fawning is sickly.

Picture this - we finish mid table next season - Essendon top 4 and Stringer on 50 plus goals.

Is there any doubt these same fawning zombies now all for Bev will be calling for Bevs head? Any doubt at all?

Now to boot - Stringer is worth at least 5000 members to us - he pays for himself. Who apart from the Bont can we say that about.

The moment Stringers trade is complete Bev is on borrowed time.

I say this because of the inevitable recriminations which must follow.

Sure some may not like him but most will look at the way it was handled and there will be a very sour taste in their mouth. And others who did like him - well.

And more importantly that trust between player and coach is fractured. The reality is irrelevant - the myth will be real. Bev kicked him out. Bev didn't even talk to him. Was told to stay away from the BnF
Never have I read such tripe on this forum.

Your choosing to disbelieve bevo's point of view in what happened during and after the exit interview and believing what stringer has said yet you don't k ow the full story. Stringer is hardly one to be trusted to tell the truth after what he has been through, yet even his manger states that he was completely comfortable with how the dogs handles the whole situation. Considering that not one player other than hamling has asked for a trade I can hardly see anyone having issues with beveridge

Spare me! Once I read moralistic tripe I know I'm dealing with children.

Fact is he has been unprofessional
Fact is many others have too
Fact is their is a professional and transparent methodology normally deployed which respects the player his team mates and the club.
Fact is this has been handled amateurishly.
Saying we don't know this or that crap only makes the club look worse.
He was unprofessional - we took this and thus action
He breached agreements - we fined him suspended him

But this basic procedure was not followed and so we have morality play and an episode of big brother.

Exactly how does the club not look ridiculous?

How do you know it was not followed? Similarly I could say someone who becomes emotive and start calling people names because they don't like being questioned is childlike.

I am not totally convinced Jake being put on the market was driven by Bev.
This is where I am at odds with yebiga and MD , Bev is not an autocrat , he will be listening and acting based on collective wisdom . I happen to think this whole saga is hurting him , there is no doubt he is a caring person.
Having said all of that yebiga and MD are quite right in questioning the way this has been handled.
The jungle drums are saying we will off load him for what ever , despite what the club has said.
I fear that is the truth.

There is a very large gap between questioning a decision and saying a premiership coach is done within a year of winning it all.

If I may be so bold as to answer the question on behalf of a number of well know posters here. Its because in the space of 12 months, we've become a club run by the reactionary pc mumbo jumbo of the morality police and not the hard headed professionals who delivered us our first flag in 64 years. We choose to ignore the fact that this decision and the precedence that its sets for a number of other wayward sons of the west is one of the most hard headed that a club that has historically been very soft on its recalcitrant stars has ever made.
He's not being traded for immorality

Wait, what??? How does that relate to now?

Just read some interesting comments from David Schwarz...

“Boys, 10 minutes ago I spoke to him and I can guarantee he will be at Essendon,” Schwarz said on SEN’s The Run Home.

“He was supposed to go to Hong Kong tomorrow with the boys on their footy trip, but pulled the pin. He still speaks to 15 of the boys on good terms.

“From the horse’s mouth, categorically no chance the Bulldogs. Swear on my daughter, absolutely no chance.”

I know it's Schwarz and the bloke is an absolute peanut, but should we read much into what he's saying and that Jakey apparently cancelled his trip with the boys?

How the hell do you know what procedures have or haven't been followed?

One of Bigfooty's greatest spectacles is occurring. Grand Final day is over and as spring creeps in, baby birds twitter, flowers cautiously bloom and the air warms just enough to bring on a Yebiga melt.

Conditions must be just right - a favourite player leaving, a coaching melodrama, cafe ownership turmoil - so it doesn't occur every year, and when it happens you need to just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.
