That is why I am surprised so many want to see Moore play back. He should be up forward with Cloke as soon as he is able to contribute and not get smashed physically.

I agree with this, whilst we have Cloke taking two defenders usually it would be ideal to let Moore develop up forward with Cloke as protection.

We will not be going too deep this year and getting some games in will be good for him, think Joe Daniher.

This will hopefully get us up and about in 2016-17 with a core group of talented youth with 50-100 games together.

Maybe not but atleast we are filling the larder with all the ingredients.
Time will tell who the chef will be that delivers.
Not as simple as putting it in the oven and letting it bake though is it. We have the wrong chef. That's the problem. Until that changes you can put the most expensive ingredients it, it won't matter.

You are right, but even I can follow Nigella Lawson cookbook. Hope we have surrounded Bucks with the right mix of advice and constructive critisicism of his coaching.

I am sure getting Balme back will help with this as he calls it as he sees it and will give the tap if/when required...

Couldn't you at least wait a few days before beginning the Buckley bashing for 2015? It is really depressing.

I don't think Uncle Mick left his cookbook behind for Nathan. Plus it took the staff and some of his much loved customers.

Without icing there would be no flag. Buckley hasn't got the experience to even build a cake.

Like making concrete you can only make a cake, so you must be really special to be able to build a cake..Perhaps you could enlighten us how to build a cake and prove you know what your talking about.

Don't really care if we win or not. Just really want to see players like Adams,Kennedy,De Goey, Broomhead and Freeman getting solid midfield time. We havehad 7 first rounder midfielders in the past 3 years and their development should be first priority. We've been spending an enormous amount of resources on the little minor aspects of our team, and in that time we have fallen behind in the midfield, which is the most intergral part of a team's structure.. When you have a dominating midfield,

We started 02 like a blaze of glory. Pretty sure we were 7 win 0 losses going in to round 8 against Brisbane and beat them to go top of the ladder. Thing I remember most of Mcgough putting his body on the line in that round 8 game and getting injured and the players all getting around him after the big win. Our backline was extraordinary with kicking skills.
Pretty sure we were belted by Richmond in rd1 of 2002.

Don't think giving up 150+ points is starting off in a blaze of glory....or actually says much about our extraordinary backline!?

It does fit in with your rose coloured glasses view of everything under MM though, so play on.

Structure is not important, flexibility and a healthy list is what is important.

The top teams highlight this

Port have barely had an injury for two years, Hawthorn despite the supposed horror run had it occur at the best time with all their players back on deck come August / September. Freo copped injuries to defense at wrong time in 2014 and bombed out in straight sets.

Roughy, Gunston often push up the ground as midfielder's or wingers - Hodge, Mitchell, Burgoyne can sit across HB, rucks like Hale can also play KF.
Westhoff swings down to the backline at times, guys like Gray, Wingard rotate between forward and mid. Trengove at CHB also runs through ruck.
Goodes can play forward or mid, Tippett can go in the ruck, Buddy can play deep forward or high on the wing, Sydney's mids all move back or forward too

We don't need 'structure' we need fit hungry players being able to fill a variety of roles in the team

Will be an enormous improvement if Witts/Grundy can legitimately hold down a KPF post. Enable Cloke to spend more time up across CHF and pushing high up the ground. Keeffe also potentially rolling into the ruck at times gives us greater flexibility.

We need more options rolling through the midfield though, be great if a few of the guys who have been on the list for a few years can step-up - Fas, Seed, JT, Sinc - or a couple of the kids BenKen, Broom, Adams, Freeman can make a big impression.

I agree with you, but it isn't necessarily one or the other.

I still believe structure is very important in the team. A healthy list is every team's main wish to really compete for a flag.

I'd argue that structure is more important and you can look at Hawthorn as an example of this. If you have a quality list, built around a good structure, than you can cover injuries adequately and win a flag.

Yep, close. They were icing on a readymade cake, exactly what we needed. Right now we are a long way from that. The flip side of star imports is the cost.

Exactly, Judd cost Kennedy and 2x top 20 picks. Even FA players like Buddy cost insomuch as they take up such a large chunk of your limited salary cap restricting your capacity to retain up and coming players.
