In fariness to United they've signed Zlatan & Pogba for a combined 110m which is probably still just a bit over their worth, but will recoup about 30-40m in revenue from them to alone so the real cost of signing celebrity players for slightly over their worth is a smart decision for a club like United

Personally I don't really rate him but I've only seen him play at the 2014 World Cup. If we can't get Ashley Williams in he may be a good alternative.

How will they recoup 30-40mil? Take out the fact that jersey sales etc don't work that way, you're forgetting these guys are on a fair whack wage.

Commercial revenues from ad appearances, shirt sales, next time sponsorhsip contracts are up they'll be getting more than they would if they just signed Matuidi or Lacazette because of the worldwide exposure these two players bring.
