Real won't drop out of the Suarez race for something as simple as 600km! Has there ever been a bidding war between the 2 giants of Spanish football and if so how'd it go? If they both go for Suarez I can see Bale's fee being passed!

If it's another biting incident they may go away, but you won't get him either, speculation is a lengthy ban - maybe even the whole season.

How can he get banned in club football for something that happened in the FIFA World cup?

Yeah not sure he can be banned from the EPL for something that happens at the World Cup. It's like been sent off in the CL, you can still play that weekend in the league but you get banned or CL games.

It was my understanding that for serious incidents FIFA was able to give all-competition bans
Not sure if that is true.

If so, surely Liverpool fight it. Cant have him missing an entire season or missing games for something he does that has nothing to do with Liverpool.

The only precedent I can think of is this, and this was in a domestic club incident

And it was for assaulting the ref

Maybe he will be banned for a lot of international games, would be surprised if he gets banned for club games. Any talk of a whole season ban for all competitions is crazy, it's not like he took a diuretic

Yeah I think a ban will follow for Uruguay and international games. Probably pretty hefty. First time was 7, second was 10. Wouldnt be surprised to see 15-20 if found guilty but it shouldnt impact Liverpool.

Only assaulting refs, matchfixing and doping scandals have resulted in all competition bans as far as I can see

Overreaction by people who suggest it, if FIFA does it then they would be idiots as well. Seriously? Ban for all comps for a year for a bite on someone? Now I am not condoning the incident but that just sounds stupid to even suggest it

Not an overreaction at all, he obviously hasn't learned the stupid donkey head, biting yet another player?? It's so wrong on many levels and he deserves a lengthy ban from the game in all competitions.

If it impacts Liverpool then Liverpool will throw the lawyers in

Strong AFL Club supported to threat of legal action correlation

He'll get a 10 game ban for Uruguay and deservedly so.

Good luck to him! Apparently the fee we are getting is about $350-400k which isn't too bad given we got him as a free transfer.

Not too sure how he'll go in England but hope he is one who can take his game to the next level (rather than lose their way).

Great news about Taggart. Know a few guys who went to school with him, they reckon Adam loves Adam. Not that that is a bad thing :p

Wouldn't surprise me at all given how he came across in some interviews/articles during his time with us. I suppose all strikers need to have a bit of self love though!:D

Hopefully he finds Fulham to be more his level than the game vs. Spain last night. I can't recall ever seeing a player so totally out of his depth as Taggart was in the 45 minutes he spent on the pitch last night.

He didn't have a great game for sure but maybe a bit harsh given the huge step up from playing against A League quality defenders to the reigning champions and some world class players. He wasn't exactly helped by our team's inability to hold the ball in the final third and lack of quality passing (he might have done a bit better if Bresc had started).

I think if there's a release clause someone can just pay whatever that is and they can make a quick profit?

Don't quote me though.

I believe his current club (Ingolstadt 04) are associated/partly bankrolled by Audi (the German car maker) so they might potentially have ambitions to become a first division bundesliga outfit in the near future. An article I read mentioned that as he hasn't played a competitive game for them, he is able to be sold if he/the club wants (Newcastle reportedly tried to do this after we signed Colback from scumberland by offering him to West Ham for $5m).

A bit off topic but interestingly, on their wikipedia page, Ingolstadt's pregame music is 'Thunderstruck' by AC DC - bit of an Aussie connection there :p

It would set a bad precedent for him to be banned from club to and I don't doubt Liverpool would take action on it. Clubs are the ones that have a big financial risk when their players play for their country with the risk of injury but they have to put up with it, if suspensions carried over from international matches I think clubs would really fight to stop players from playing.

Not that the incident doesn't deserve a severe punishment but if it carried over so should any bad tackle which I dont think is fair. I would expect a large Fifa ban and if he does it again at club level whichever league to really throw the book at him too. If real or barca get him they will surely put some form of clause in on his behaviour to cover themselves.
