A lot easier for them to get work permits too isn't it?

it probably is. point stands though. from 3rd division of brazil to champions league in about a year. and he's obviously not the only one. they pick them up from 18-21 and seem to just be able to continually pump out quality players. benfica, sporting are in the same boat. you rarely see anything like it in england.

Would be a waste of resources. It's hard enough to obtain a special talent work permit for someone plying their trade in the brazilian first division, would be near on impossible to obtain one for someone playing in the third division.

They definitely have fantastic scouts but it certainly helps that they're one of a very small group of clubs who are actually capable of accessing these players. The reciprocal nature of Brazilian/Portuguese citizenship means that they don't have to worry about securing work permits for many of these players like most other clubs. Obviously in England it's almost impossible to sign a player from outside the EU unless they've already represented their country or are performing to a high standard in another European league, by which time the opportunity for a shrewd deal is generally well and truly gone, so there isn't really much point in English clubs extensively scouting that part of the world.

As an example, I know that Liverpool were trying to sign Jackson Martinez from Chiapas 2 years ago but gave up because it was just impossible to get a work permit for him. Porto swoop in and sign him for £6.5m and he goes on to score 60 goals in 91 games for them. C*nts.

Juan Quintero is another. Every club in Europe knew about him as he lit up the U20 World Cup, but Porto were one of the only top clubs who could get him without needing a work permit. Now he's making a name for himself with a string of excellent performances for Colombia at this years World Cup.

I thought they might have woken up.

I am obviously wrong.
Look at you taking the high ground. The Arsenal bid was after the bite and the racism row yet all you Arsenal fans were hard with the thought that Arsenal were going to sign him.

Arsenal had a deal in place to sign Ronaldinho before he went to PSG but couldn't get a work permit so the deal collapsed.

'We could have got Ronaldinho before he went to PSG,'

'I met his brother, who is his agent, a long, long time before he went to PSG - when he was 20 - but we just could not get him to England because of the rules here.

'Basically, what the rule does is force you to wait to buy the player but, by then, you cannot afford him anymore.

'He had not played enough games for Brazil to get a work permit over here.

Sevilla have said the Moreno move to Liverpool is off

Athletic Bilbao have officially rejected United's bid for Herrera

Considering all the reports are that we've met the Buyout bid I find that hard to believe, unless they've done a Liverpool.

Considering all the reports are that we've met the Buyout bid I find that hard to believe, unless they've done a Liverpool.

Supposedly United's offer was not the exact amount needed - 28 mil as opposed to 31 mil

"The Athletic Club wishes to report that this week (it has) rejected an offer from Manchester United FC, estimated at 36 million euros, to transfer the federation and economic rights of the player Ander Herrera."

"Reports suggest that the current price of Herrera's release clause will expire at the end of this month and as per his contract the new clause will be set at a higher price, though United are still confident of being to complete the deal before that time."

So we bidded under and by several million? Lol why do clubs do that? Just offer the buy out. Why bother offering a little less.
No we payed the right amount just that amount will have to increase after july 1st the deal is pretty much done, Just bilbao are being dickheads like they were for Lorente to Juve and Martinez to Bayern.

haha united.

negotiators supreme
Actually what has happened is that.

We have made a bid for Herrera in the normal fashion
Which has been rejected
However United have activated the buyout cause (Reported by Media in Spain)
Herrera Has sent in the necessary forms to the tax office to deposit the money for the buyout clause
The stalling is due to issues between Real Zaragoza and Bilbao over 1.4 million euros.

Mundo Deportivo has stated that Herrera has already been to Carrington with his Agent and Father to have a tour and to speak to Sir Bobby.

yeah at a mega inflated price

seems the tables have turned on who's doing smart business and who's doing loud, sloppy big money deals.

Well when you finish 7th and have a squad with many holes in it big deals are necessary.

As a city fan I think you'd know that.

8m for snodgrass is way overs, but he's a great player so I suppose I'm not too distraught at it. Just hope it doesn't impact on our ability to do other deals.
