I guess the worry is with Suarez they are a contender, without him not so much.

Obviously I'd prefer he wasn't such a dick! But we kept him after the last 2 incidents and while I was disappointed in his actions, once he served his punishment I eventually got over it.

At the end of the day I (and I assume most people) follow football and get up at 3 o'clock in the morning every week to be entertained, not to find my moral compass, and there aren't many players I enjoy watching more than Luis Suarez. It's the same reason why Chelsea supporters are excited by the prospect of signing Diego Costa I suppose.

With Liverpool's track record of finding world class strikers before they've hit their peak I'd back us to replace him if push came to shove, but my personal preference right now would be for us to keep him primarily because he fits the way we play and makes going to work on 3 hours of sleep worthwhile. The fact that he antagonises opposition supporters so much is an added bonus really.

Could he bite a referee and be banned for life and then his value drops to nothing? Who knows? He is clearly unstable you can't rule it out!

I suspect that Sanchez is probably being lined up as a replacement if we decide to sell Suarez.

Shaqiri would be signed as an addition to the squad, not a replacement.

Apparently he is disillusioned with the club (according to the media). He was also getting link to Atletico which might be a more attractive option

He would only go to West Ham (probably) for the money (Gold and Sullivan would give him a nice pay packet) plus the chance to live in London (albeit maybe not in the most desirable part haha).

Essentially after the Konoplyanka deal fell through at the last minute in January and we began to look certain of finishing in the Champions League, we started looking at higher profile targets for that quick, goal scoring winger/#10.

Then in March Shaqiri and his agent/brother came out and said that he would be considering moving elsewhere in the summer as he wasn't happy playing second fiddle at Bayern (he repeated these claims about a month ago). At this stage according to Di Marzio/Fabrizio Romano we are negotiating terms with Shaqiri's agent, and a deal looks likely but not completed yet.

More a young prospect for the future. But he won their player of the year three years running at 21, so he's no slouch.

All of a sudden it's back to being almost a done deal.

Not really, it's been a pretty steady progression. It's not like we dropped our interest and now that he's scored a hat-trick it's a done deal all of a sudden. The pieces have been slowly falling into place over the last few weeks - and now that a very reliable journalist in Di Marzio is declaring that a deal to take him to Liverpool is close, the rest of the media are using him as a source and running with the story.
