With all the transfer talk, spare a thought for poor Blackpool who only have 8 First Team players on the books at present (with no keeper) and only 5 weeks out from the start of the season...

With their current squad, they could play 3 at the back, 1 in midfield and 4 up front

Current squad
As of 3 July 2014
No. Position Player
4 MF David Perkins
5 DF Gary MacKenzie
9 FW Steve Davies
10 FW Bobby Grant

No. Position Player
20 FW Sergei Zenjov
27 FW Tom Barkhuizen
29 DF Tony McMahon
DF Charles Dunne

That is absolutely abysmal management from the executive team of that club.

How is that even possible? Are they just going to get FA's in?
As NFGKizza put it, I enjoy the presumption that we would just leave a Luis Suarez sized hole in attack.

We have monies.

But yes, not the thread for it.

Much harder to replace Suarez who is one of the three best in the world. (I'm sorry, couldn't help myself :p)

Yeah saw that posted after we signed Ince. Bizarre.

No idea! Apparently they released 17 players at the end of last season. If I were them, I'd be trying to flesh out the squad with free transfers, loan signings and promoting younger kids from the reserves/academy to try and get something close to a full team.

Not only that, apparently they appointed a new manager in mid June and he is yet to speak publicly and there is no communications coming out of the club...worrying times for their fans!

They're a joke. Holding out for 8m from us for Ince when they could accept an offer of 3.5m, instead it'll go to the Tribunal and they'll get something in the region of 500k-1m.

Haha so you're assuming we're not going to bother replacing him and will instead have £75-80m just sitting in our piggy bank come the end of the transfer window?

Not at all, I just doubt you can bring in that quality or a quick fix.

I think most teams will be playing catch up to City and Chelsea next season.

Interest, brah.

But Arsenal don't spend money?

Is it still Wenger out?
Like United still win trophies, eh?

You will spend but all of it?

I thought we would when we sold Ronaldo for £80m, all we did was sign Valencia, obertan and owen for free.

You were also servicing a £700m debt. With the repayments themselves, the massive interest fees and the bank charges that debt would incur, no doubt that accounts for where the majority of that money went!

Liverpool on the other hand are essentially debt free at present, and the owners have given assurances on several occasions that the reason for reducing our massive debt was that it would enable the club to reinvest every penny we make from player sales back into the squad.

Apparently Arsenal have made a 8mil bid for Remy.

If Arsenal end up with Debuchy, Sanchez and Remy, they will have had a great start to the off season.

A lot of PL clubs having strong off-seasons. In fact I can't think of too many clubs that have bought players I would consider shit.

So much for the world cup holding off all the activity, has been a lively transfer window so far

We haven't bought anyone yet. Give it time ;)

I know it's easy to kick someone while their down, but that David Luiz deal is looking better and better. The fact that we got 50 million for that 'defender' is laughable. He's barely a defender, he played exactly the same way at 7-0 as he did 0-0 this morning, leaving his keeper exposed time and time again. He was only one cog in a terrible defence this morning, but a vital one as a centre back and acting captain. Terrible performance from him, and sums up why he will never make it as a gun centre back.

How are they even going to recruit players? No one would want to come to a club that's in absolute shambles:confused:o_O

The key word in your post

And i'm still hoping that we sign Lars Bender, would be the most important signing of the lot

With only eight contracted first-team players on the books currently, the manager will have an opportunity to put his own identity on the side moving forward. The challenge is to get them integrated ahead of the new season starting on 9 August.

“This situation is more of an opportunity than a problem but clearly the clock is ticking. We are hoping to keep working hard to get the deals done as quickly as possible," the chairman added.
