I will be getting along to the match next Sunday, but in this current state of limbo, my feelings towards up and coming matches are changing.

On one hand, I want the boys to smash Freo into next century, Richo to kick 12, Browny to get 45 touches, the song sung loud and proud at the end of it.

On the other hand however, the season is obviously over, the coach and players aren't up to it, and we require a cleanout. I currently feel like we are just treading water at the moment, that we are just prolonging the inevitable. As much as it s##ts me to say it, I wouldn't mind Freo to belt us this weekend, for Frawley to announce he will leave but see the year out, for the kids to start having a run and to play some of the older crew to surround these kids with to help them ease into senior footy (although not too sure what they'd learn off Rogers and DK).

Granted, the club doesn't want to get into a habit of tanking matches, but having our future having a good crack at the opposition would surely be a positive. Finishing 15th or 16th would also be better than finishing 10th or 11th. I actually hope that Hawthorn start to win a few games, and we may grab that No.1 draft pick and actually use it properly.

Other than speaking with your heart (which is obviously for a thumping of Freo), are there any other positive ways to look at the rest of the season?

We are closer to the end of the season than the beginning. Only 11 matches to go, every week it gets a little easier.

I tend to agree. Although it drives a stake thru my heart when we get beat, particularly by the margins we've lost by this season, losing now isnt such a bad thing. We'll be doing more damage by winning 8 or 9 games. The season is over and even if by some miracle we manage to scrape into 8th spot, we'd embarrass ourselves in the finals. We don't have the cattle to compete in september.

It would gutter me if at the end of the season, both Hawthorn and Bulldogs got priority picks and we didnt.

Imagine that....with our crap list and our crap season, our first pick would be pick 5

This is sickening.

I cannot buy this "we are betting off losing " cr@p.

finishing last will lose members - lost members mean we are closer to not being around.

miller as already said that the duds will be gone. Obviuosly frawley and the coaching panel are gone.

i just cannot follow this logic.

these times require calm heads.

Even with our crap season last season, we still have over 2,000 more members this season.

That proves that membership is driven by hope not performance. Hope is generated largely by our off season recruiting (which is turn is driven by our draft picks).

What do you suggest Peejay? Win a few more games and finish 10th? Where would that get us? St. Kilda have proven that a few years on the bottom can do wonders for the list. Brisbane were a rabble before they became a force.

Miller will sort the list out, Frawley and his merry men are gone, and a new coach will bring new hope. I don't believe members will drop off if we finish last. High draft picks are like gold these days, especially in a strong draft, and we definitely need good young players. I for one would be more optimistic about our future if we had picks 1 and 2 in the next draft, rather than winning a handful of games, trading away our picks for bandaid players again, and running through the same old scenario.

I hate watching us get belted each week, but I'd rather see the team appear to be a force in the future rather than take flimsy wins here and there.

I agree with you in theory. But any smart tiger fan will know that it will only get better. This years draft is pretty strong and with already our abundance of good youth:

Rodan, Krakouer, Newman, Moore, Foley, Fiora, Coughlan, Ottens, Jackson, Roach, Hartigan, Raines, Schultz, Gilmore, Tuck, Zantuck, Pettifer, Morrison, Archibald, Hyde and Weller have all shown at least something at some level that they can play. We can build a team around some of these young players and we can really top up this years draft and we can get rid of the likes of Nicholls, Rogers, D.Kellaway, Marsh, Hilton, Houlihan and Fletcher.

In a few years the likes of Kane Johnson, Nathan Brown etc will be in their prime (28 years old or so) and they can help us win a flag. Like what Aussie Jones is doing for st kilda. Kane Johnson when he cant cope in teh midfield would be classy in teh backline.

Anyway to this weeks team:

B: Newman Hall Moore
HB: Chaffey Gasper Fiora
C: Hyde Johnson Campbell
HF: Bowden Schulz Tivendale
FF: Pettifer Richo Rodan
Foll: Ottens Brown Krakouer
Int: Blumfield, Hartigan, Stafford, D.Kellaway
Emg: Zantuck, Morrison, Hilton

In: Blumfield, Zantuck, Morrison, D.Kellaway
Out: Fleming (Susp)

If we dont win this then hello draft picks. We got a revamped carlton next week and then we got the break and then sumthin like brisbane, melbourne, St Kilda, Essendon and collingwood 5 weeks in a row.

We have to win!!!!!!! no doubts about it

My tipping depends on it LOL

living in perth most ppl in my work comp will pick the dockers and im 3 off the leader. If the Tiges win I could move closer to the ultimate prize

btw im currently on 58 so far this season.

Go the Tiges
