This maybe from left field! but I'm entertaining the idea that we may go in withan extra mid leaving out Leigh Brown. It would mean Rocca and Travis helping out Josh with the ruck. Could take the Saint's by surprise, and we could use the extra man to put more running pressure on the Saints (They have been great for the last 6 weeks and could be flattening out). A lot of this would depend on Josh if he feels e can do it against two heavy weights. Travis can play a high CHF . Rocca would play the go to forward opening up the flanks to McCaffer Rusty Thomas Locks and Leon. Danny I'd like to see in the centre ( the fact that he is new in the mix is the only deterring fact! ) Stanley would add more hardness there and the way the Saints have been hard there we need to match them if we are going to get more of our fair share of the clearances! I'd like to see it as the Sain't wont be expecting it.

Zero chance of happening I'd say.

Brown is there to give Fraser a break, neither of Trav/Rocca can be used in the ruck, are forward line would fold like a wet tissue... The extra tall gives us options when any of our KP players aren't up to scratch, or if the Saints swing an extra big man forward.

Would confidently bet my house on us not taking out a tall for a small.

Even if Medders were to play, do we want to risk playing him carrying an injury?

We'll probably get pumped with him out of the side, but I'd rather that than risk him being out for another 3 weeks (e.g. Richo vs Sydney, and Charman vs us).

If he's not ready, don't play him.

The only indication I can give you on Daisy, is that he did everything all the other players did this morning.

But the actual training session was more of a kick around and a set shot practice then an intense session.

If Daisy has general soreness, he should be right, the 10 day break should get him up for the Saints match.

Thanks for clarifying Mattys sounds like he should be right then.

I was not overly confident in my sources info.

No love for Ben Reid?? Can play back and foward.

Yet Dawes only turns up when we win comfortably and he's talked up.

Edit: I thought I was in the VFL thread.

Where am I?

Yes but he is emergencey for tomorrows game and if they need him then he has to play 2 games? Did Rusty and Stanley play today?

No Stanley or Rusty in the VFL, they both trained with the main group this morning, so at least one of them is playing tomorrow night, with doubts over Medhurst and Thomas (although Thomas rumours are just rumours).

If they aren't planning any changes, there's only one genuine emergency - the other two play in the reserves. Neither Stanley or Sidebottom played today so at least one of them will definately play.

Obviously 2 players are in doubt. Doesn't mean one or both won't come up.

There's still a chance we'll go unchanged.

I don't really think it is a hard decision though guys..
Rusty has enormous potential, is still very young and his body is premature..

We and the board would be pretty confident he will no doubt make it as an afl footballer.

Stanley on the other hand, has one season left, tries his guts out week in week out for vfl. Give him a crack in the middle, try and get as much out of him as possible and see what he has to offer at AFL before he is cut at the end of the season..

I think he is good enough to make it as a footballer and will be pretty disappointed if he is cut at the end of the season without being given a real chance as i believe he has the tools to get there.

Were Didak and Beams sighted? If so, how'd they go? Any chance of either for Carlton game? With Fev under a cloud, we are a much better chance, especially if we can get Dids, Beamsy and Medders back in. I've already written-off the St Kilda game. Wouldn't surprise me if we fail to get to ten goals tomorrow night. Our remaining forwards versus their backline is just a horrible mis-match. BTW, I hope to be sledged mercilessly for getting that call wrong.

I have no doubt that Medders will not play. I doubt even KissStephanie's psychotherapist can get him right. ;)

I don't discount the possibilty that Rocca may not play tonight and that we could go in with an unconventional small forward set up with Cloke being the only tall, possiblty with some back up from Leigh Brown at times. This would mean that mid size players like Macaffer, Stanley and possibly Maxwell will spend quite a bit of time up forward. Whilst we would be small we will be as hard as nails up forward and our defensive pressure should be good.

Of course, Daisy will also play predominantly forward as well and give us another marking option and also excellent defensive pressure.

This whole plan places a lot of pressure on Cloke to be at least very competitive but maybe that's the pressure he needs right now to break him out of his funk?

The more I think about the above set up the more I like it.

Mossi - i love the option - however i think Leigh Brown will be used as a backman tonight, picking up Kossi and N.Brown will play forward.
Is everyone convinced Heath will play tonight?
Thomas will play on Goddard
Presti will play on sooky Reiwoldt
Maxwell will play on Dal Santo (poor poor Dal going to get pummelled)

IF he is out, and Stanley isn't picked over Sidebottom, I will never ever show support to our match-committee or Malthouse again.

I don't care about all your man-love for Sidey, but this is a footy club, not a love-fest, and Stanley has clearly been the better player for us this year, last few weeks AND last weekend in general.

I would rather see Sidebottom get a game and watch his elite kicking skills on display. He's capable of 25+ touches and hitting his targets. I also would like to see Stanners get a game but in my opinion he has not performed to well in the past and those here that say MM's hasn't given him chances, well then that's just rubbish. You have to perform the tasks given by the coach or you don't play. Simple !
