Supplements Causing Depression?

Not quite ten, but I'd like to see his numbers once the season started. That is hard to maintain. Especially over a year.

Sorry fellas, not buying it.
It's not impossible...

"Last year, Panthers fullback Jarrod Sammut played NRL at just 72kg. But a rigorous off-season weight program has the former lightweight now 10kg heavier and sporting long black hair, a menacing handlebar moustache - and a brand new tattoo to boot."

Obviously that's NRL, but if Hunter was put on a similar bulking program, he might have seen similar results.

Generally I'd say it would be unlikely for any AFL conditioning team to stack the weight on players so dramatically, but in light of Essendon's woes....

yeah, not ten kilos. That's absurd. If your program includes any type of running, it won't happen.

Where are the biggest muscles in the body?

ESSENDON captain Jobe Watson only lobbed back at Windy Hill a couple of days ago after a family holiday in Spain, but immediately noticed something different. A lot of his young teammates suddenly looked bigger.

The younger players on the Dons' list are into their third week of pre-season work and already it seems the benefits of the recruitment of former Geelong strength and conditioning coach Dean Robinson are tangible.

"You can see the body shapes have changed for some of the guys at the club," Watson said yesterday.

"It's noticeable that the program that has been put in place has already been effective on most guys. Certainly it has been an eye-opener for the guys who have been doing it for two-and-a-half weeks."

7 kgs in 7 weeks according to the man. Dapper, you really need to learn your own clubs history.

"They've already put size on and that was something we did at Geelong where some of those guys put on seven kilos in seven weeks and it was functional mass."

A torturous amount of leg weights has resulted in several players complaining that their jeans no longer fit them. One said it was now impossible to get them above his thighs.

It's all music to Robinson's ears.

Oh god.

Please tell me, what is functional mass?

I'll tell you what my club history contains in the last 3 years: bullshit. We all know this.

You guys believe it when it suits you, however.

Lol functional mass. Gimme a break.

I'm on a program at the moment that will add about 15 kgs of muscles by the end of May, and I am 46. Most of it is the same as mentioned, leg and lower back work.

This proves nothing as we are talking about a young footballer. Two totally different types of people/environments/etc.

I'll ask you though, what percentage of your 15kgs will be functional mass?

Very possible, if he had never been on a proper diet or done weights, mix in some Dank fairy dust, and it can happen.

Plenty of guys bulk up this fast in gym

exactly most gym junkies bulk up that quick within a few months if they're using PED's, they usually use a weight gainer for extra oomph, then they specifically offset it with things like oxy-cut to ensure they shed excess fat and only muscle bulk remains.

Pretty much all of it.

You realise it's a bullshit made up term right?

Are you a power lifter? Cos I haven't seen any power lifting types play AFL. Otherwise I might believe it.

He has said that his experiences with anxiety and depression stem directly from not knowing what he was injected with during 2012, with a psychologist determining that a “psychological sword of Damocles” will hang over his head for his entire life.Watson, whose son and club captain Jobe has been banned from playing this season, said former rookie Hunter is not alone

The Dockers yearbook at the below link shows how Medhurst and Simmonds put on 7.3kgs in a 17-week preseason.

http://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/Fremantle/Files/FD16a FFCDN0104-REV.pdf

Essendon used banned supplements, had a different training schedule which resulted in big gains across the list, and had a longer time frame than 17 weeks (Hunter merely defines the year).

Also note that Hunter said "about" 10 kgs. Either because it's an off the cuff comment or they had no intent to drill into specifics for the purposes of the article.

I'd assume he'd have some medical documents to support the claim.
Darcy Moore added 7kg over this pre-season
