I know he’s only really shown a lot in the Big Bash lately - but Cooper Connelly is the most talented young batsman in the country.

Averages 46 in the Shield.

It’ll be such a shame if he becomes a T20 mercenary.
I really hope you are right, but i just don't see it. He doesn't have a Test technique (mind you, not many of them do these days).

Neser was sitting on his bat

Neser backing up, and without the slightest bit of hesitation.

He wasn't backing up , have you ever batted

I might never have batted. I'm kinda glad I didn't spend enough time around cricket ovals to lose the ability to discern fact from fiction.

Move it on Bro , he hesitated . Hope you had a great xmas

Kellaway should play the last test

Green and Marnus won’t be dropped I bet

Uz should retire and be done with it
Totally agree mate , McSweeney a chance as well and i don't think Green will be dropped , as they love him
Inglis should never play again at test level
Who knows Boland and Hazlewood might never play a home test again and they are some exciting young quicks all over the country on the rise

Of course he did... in bedfordworld. Like Marnus got him out last week and Rob Quiney got shafted because of Phil Hughes.
bedford world has a fair bit of cricket experience and knowledge , but still capable as we all are of making a mistake my friend .
Funny you should mention Bob had a chat to him the other day , great fella

So gracious and humble! And it only took four posts of denial before you conceded. Lol

In days past, the pitch would've been described as a good cricket wicket. Its not like it was on the same level as the diabolical WACA one where Ambrose had a field day or some of the pitches that West Indian curators use to serve up.

The reality is that the modern day batter does not have the technique or temperament to play on anything other than a road. This is down to T20 and the reduced emphasis on FC cricket.
Perhaps CA needs to recognise this and instruct the curators to take the spice out of the pitches?

West Indies batters did alright on their wickets but the rest of your post rings true.

I knew we went in too heavy in the bowling.
Green bowled 5 ballls in the first innings. I predicted he would bowl less than 5.
Not much point in having an all rounder that does not bowl more than 5 overs. Especially if he is not contributing the runs. Just hope and not much substance.

Head can bowl more than 5 overs.

We needed another batsman and I predicted it. Green is not an all rounder that can impact a game like an all rounder should. Never has. He has only shown glimpses of talent at both. That does not make you a test all rounder. Especially as a batsman. Did not score more than 20 in each innings I think.

He is a good bowler but the problem is that he bowls sparingly at the moment due to the injuries he has had. Also, despite doing ok on difficult wickets in the W indies at number3, he has been up and down the batting order. Doesn't excuse some of his decision making in this series with the bat, but doesn't help.

Hard to drop anyone after 46 was the top score on that pitch. Neser was very ordinary in the second innings. He goes out for Murphy and Green gets more overs. Richardson did well first up after a lengthy spell.

Green is neither at test level. Nor is Inglis. Uzzie (of whom I am a fan) has gone on a year too far). Labuschagne was rightly dropped and brought back in desperation, Wetherald doesn't look the goods and Smith is fading.
We don't have a good consistent batting line-up at all.

We are Dad’s Army.

Which wouldn’t be such a problem if there was a bunch of Ponting / Clarke / Cummins type talents on the way up.

I don't buy into the moaning about the Melbourne Test pitch.

OK I get it, so someone that lives in regional NSW, and drove 5hrs, in vain, with their Day 3 tickets. But it's a national event. Not everyone can get to the MCG.

For a TV watcher, that was two days of compulsive, can't look away, viewing.

So the ball had the ascendency over the bat. So what.

While I'm at it, on selections,
I'd be unhappy with the selectors if I was Beau Webster.
Or for that matter Matt Renshaw -on the squad outer, but so was Jai Richardson.
And surely Todd Murphy gets his chance in Sydney.

Maybe the complete opposite to you're little digs . Wouldn't concede anything to you my friend

So you're quite comfortable devaluing people's opinions with stuff like...

If you understood the game....

and...

have you ever batted

.... but get all sensitive when somebody returns serve.

Now, I get that you might find it difficult to get your head around that, so I won't hold my breath waiting for you to stop doing it. Don't be disheartened tho, I'm happy to play the game any time you want.

With Sydney and Bangladesh coming up, our priority is to unearth the next generation mainstays as shield can only reveal so much.

Who will take over from the Fab 4 bowlers ?

Who are our permanent openers going to be ? We’ve always had awesome openers but now it’s a big gap.

What to do with Marnus and Green but who replaces them ?. Smith 4 Head 5 Carey 6 is my preferred. Do we give Connolly a shot at 7 ?

Do we give Marnus a spot as opener with Kellaway with Mcsweeney at 3 or bring Konstas back to open with Kellaway ?

Mini rebuild should have greater priority than WTC this year.
