Huh???
Maybe have never had the right coach , remember it is micky mouse cricket and a poor last over was last nights reason for the loss , also missing out on an over with 2 other fielders in , also planned for 10 , not 7 .Stars are the worst at least every other side has won something
Yep get that, but the first paragraph of your post says;Stars are the worst at least every other side has won something
How? They have the second most titles. They do well.
Stars are easily the biggest disappointment of the BBL. High profile, big names - can't get the job done.

which was a direct response to
So, forgive me if I'm a little confused.....

Oh okay, that makes sense, thank youYour response was to him confusing the Sixers with the Stars.
Do you actually follow them ? They’ve won 3 titles but lost 4, losing the last 2 and if they make the final this year, and that’s a big if, they likely lose again. You do realise they have won more than they have lost in BBL right? Second most titles. yeah poor batting the other night yet were still in a position to win in a match that wasn't meaningless but it was just a rights hosting match, like they are losing to Hobart minus Ellis (likely) and definitely David. Sam Curran is a huge loss though for sure.

They rely too much on too few, they don't have the talented youth coming through like Scorchers in particular have had to complement the 'Stars'.Highest proportion of overrated players in the BBL.
Stoinis being top of the list.
You just made my day. Babar gone, thought Dan Hughes could have played more, know he was ill for a bit.If they make it they’ll be winning no way they bat as badly as that again and no Babar to spud it

Agree Edwards over ratedSo hope Abbott and Edwards fail again
Helps when my mate Joel Davies decides to turn from a injury replacement player into a top 10 player in the compSixers really missing Babar …..
Nice interview as wellHelps when my mate Joel Davies decides to turn from a injury replacement player into a top 10 player in the comp

Smudge is like the 4th best T20 bat we have but because he opens and the C and VC open the batting they don't send him on the plan. Pure insanity especially given they have Connolly averaging 2.8 in T20I and Maxwell who is averaging like 10 in the just completed BBL.So Mitch Marsh has been hit in the knackers so probably out of the WC and now somehow Steve Smith is on a plane , wow
Bailey over thinking things. Smith is a real contender for our second best batter of all time and is clearly a better bat than Connolly, Maxwell and Renshaw. With someone of his class, it is irrelevant where he has been batting - just put him in the top 6. Likewise Carey who is a better bat than the 3 I mentioned.Smudge is like the 4th best T20 bat we have but because he opens and the C and VC open the batting they don't send him on the plan. George Bailey is trying to do too much experimenting when you just pick the players in form

Speaking of Maxwell, I think he's done. His batting largely depends on having a good eye and fast bat speed, both of which deteriorate with age for all batters.
You have 15 players to bring in the squad the 4 spare players should be an extra specialist opener, an extra spare keeper, probably a spare all rounder and an extra bowler, in these conditions would say that you need a spare spinner.I actually don't have an issue with them leaving Smith out. People need to remember BBL form does not equal t20 form, not least because we have silly rules that are not in place internationally especially the surge. It papers over the cracks of top order bats and their ability early. In SL and India you need to be going 12 plus an over in powerplays it gets harder as the innings goes on. We tried Smith against NZ after smashing it in the BBL last time, and it ended pretty much the same s/r of 120 ish with a best of 55 off 42 fairly sure and that's slow, if you are facing 42 balls you should be near 100 not 50 these days. That's ultra slow compared to the two that are there. Also he has to open he can't bat elsewhere and I sure don't want him at 4 over Green, David (injured right now) or Stoinis. Inglis is set at 3 has 2 t20 tons to his name. So if you pick Smith, where does he fit? Our best side I didn't see a spot. Different if Marsh is out but until then, not seeing why we'd bother.
Maxwell has been cooked for a while. If he can't get runs against BBL bowlers minus all our best ones, why anyone thought he would internationally I don't know. It's been 2 plus years since he's done anything for Aus.

Again your argument looks good on the surface until you realise that Connolly in his last 10 T20 innings is averaging about 8 with the bat, alongside the fact that Renshaw is averaging about 10 with the bat outside of the Gabba in the most recent BBL.

I respectfully disagree. Smith has more talent in his little finger than Renshaw, Connelly and Maxwell. Given this and what he has achieved, I'd have him batting ahead of these guys in any format. Regarding power hitting, did you see the six Smith hit onto the roof at the SCG. It was one of 9 he hit in a 40 ball hundred. Plus he has the full bag of tricks so really not sure where this notion that Smith can't bat in a T20 middle order comes from? The issue is that Connolly and Smith are not competing for the same role, one is a lower order bat/spinner, a spinning all rounder. You need spinners in this WC. Should a Davies be ahead of CC, possibly but they went with the more ready now option, Davies another that has benefited from the surge rule to up his s/r though. Connolly was very good with the ball for the Scorchers this year.
You don't need an extra keeper, your keeper gets injured you bring one in, you'd bring a carey/Phillipe as the cover, it's not a long flight if need be. Just have a guy in the squad like a Maxwell who can keep if utterly need be.
Smith can only open in t20 he's too slow to bat elsewhere, and wouldn't play ahead of Marsh/Head. Inglis is the spare opener and shifted up last night. That's the spare. I just don't see where he fits, and the selectors agree. People have to remember before the joke warmup games in Pakistan we were (with India) the form t20 side. This form was with Head-Marsh-Inglis-Green-David, so your top 5 are set, then you have the two AR in Maxwell and Stoinis at 6/7 you pick whatever order you want. There's no space for Smith there just isn't. Renshaw is a middle order bat in t20 cricket and can hit bigger, does provide a bowling option too.
