I think some of the points made in this article are thought provoking- particularly those made by Josh Jenkins.

I start reading every article posted here soon as i hear the writer mention anything about the "bloods" i close it a 20yr old rhetoric that has not been valid well since the mid 2000's

Nathan Buckley on Whateley

Great listen to Bucks...I think we all sensed that ability to be fearless. And the total reinvent that Cox is going for and Jenkins alludes to in his article.it's like we're neither here not there...everything is second guessed. They're trying but hey are just not sure on an emotional level. It creates indecision. So like Buckley says that training harder is not necessarily the way to go. And Cox has mentioned training harder this week.
It's.such a tough place to be because confidence real confidence takes time to rebuild and it's a lot in the mental space as much as anything...I almost feel like a day at the pub connecting would be better than anything at the moment. Or going for a surf together.

Something I often come back to is how so many clubs that are up the top have been creating cultures where they reinforce having fun but also being fearless. Making mistakes isn’t ideal but you move on quickly and learn from it and don’t beat yourself up. Collingwood, Geelong, Richmond have typified that in the last five or six years. We’ve been a good side in that time too so it’s not like it’s all been for nought but we’ve seemed like a team scared of making mistakes.

Longmire always seemed to me to be an older style of coach in that way, despite his contemporary approaches to mental health and the like which I think positively of him for. It seems like the club for some time now has been weighed down by the possibility of another flogging or of being made to look foolish again and it looks crippling to the collective’s attitude. Such that when it is all happening again, another team waltzing into goals over and over, the side look like they go into shock.

All in all, I think this is going to take a while to dig ourselves out of unfortunately. It will be satisfying when it happens, but I think this club’s predicament is now confirmed as a long-term issue that requires a long-term approach.

Bucks’ best point is the 2005 reunion probably did more bad than good. It would make the group feel like they are inferior and couldnt win it not once but twice, and probably put those thoughts front of mind agajn

There is no way that is true if the group is actually that badly traumatized then im not joking trade them all now as they will never achieve anything.

We're in a tricky spot because to me it feels like we need to bring the fun back. Take it back to the basics of just enjoying your footy and playing on instinct and winning with your mates. That feels like the way we truly get over the post-GF blues and on the right track again.

But it's hard to do that when we're trying to make a very-necessary pivot towards being a more disciplined, defensive team, something that doesn't come overly natural to a lot of our players, so I suspect a lot of them are also just not enjoying their footy that much.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment.

Well we're doing a really shit job of that lately given how many suspensions we've copped along the way this year.

Just read a piece in the Age by some rooster called Vince Rugoni about 2005 , it includes a pic of Cox after the game.
Some is okay , but then he has comments by F#####G Bob Murphy talking about blood and we have a broken heart , why quote this woke warrior
He just replied to me lol

Bottom line is these guys better start performing, otherwise sooner rather than later they'll be moved on. I bet our organisation & club is better than most, so it's not like they'll have greener pastures elsewhere on & off-field.

Just hours after their thumping loss to Adelaide, Sydney players gathered for a pre-dawn beach session

That is good to hear.

**** knows if it will work, nothing seems to get through with this group. But all we can ask is that they keep trying and find ways to get tougher and better and raise standards.

No point getting too upset, a new coach, missing several starters...it can only get better from here.

But if we are to miss finals - and it looks that way - then I would rather miss out by a long way and get some early draft picks. We might never get another chance to load up on an elite junior footballer or two.

These players then need to decide if they will keep putting their handout for their cash then.

I get the sentiment, however I am starting to think we have a really privileged group, who knows, maybe this losing thing is messing w them because in life they have been told how good they are. Adversity is what makes you, diamonds are created out of pressure and all those isms. When it comes down to it, I do feel like they need to have fun being competitors, go back to control the controllable, bring a work ethic and every player lead from the front. Actions count now.

Skill don’t disappear overnight. Free the shackles and play eyes up footy, try players and get back to why they all played in the first place.

The coach may well need to stop coaching for a little while and set them free.

This sounds player driven rather than Coxy which might be a first...

Milera is one of the softest spoken, and nicest guys you will come across.
I think he just pulled the wrong word out at the wrong time.
When you are put on the spot, and you arnt an experienced public speaker, you can get your words around.
I think he was probably trying to say that he thought they were a bit unorganised or not sure what to do with the pressure the Crows were putting on.

This isn't a comment on Sydney the club, but at that particular time.
It's not out of all possibilities that a team with alot of inexperienced players covering the loss of 7 or so first 22, might not be as disciplined in the game plan as the others might be.

For what it's worth, Sydney will be fine.
They are coming off the grand final blues, have a heap of injuries, and confidence is a bit low.
They have plenty of talent, and some good academy kids this year, so I expect them to regroup and rebound next year.
He said it from the heart with honesty.
No problem with that from me.
Our players were dishonest the other night & other than Grundy & Mitchell the second gamer, had no right to be in a red & white jumper on that ground.

They need to do a lot right & without the ego driven celebrations in the next few years to make right where & how the club was at when handed over to them by the true Bloods who were taught by Roos & co.
What an embarrassment & any criticism by opposition players is well deserved because they are the ones that know better than anyone else how insipid & soft their opponents were.

Milera spoke the truth.
Truth should hurt.

Make no mistake, the angst isn’t from win or losses.

I do hope you are right, is it can only get better from here. Probably lucky we don’t play west coast until the last round.
