"The Swans’ elite midfield was the real star of the show on Friday morning.

The work Isaac Heeney, Errol Gulden, James Rowbottom and Chad Warner got through was immense and they look to have taken another step up in 2025.

They clearly got the better of the Giants through the middle, and then also were able to showcase their depth in the position with the likes of Angus Sheldrick, James Jordon and Justin McInerney also spending plenty of time at the stoppages. That will be the engine room for the Swans’ success this year and if that was just the start, there’s every chance they will be back at the MCG on the last day of the season."

Actually, I went off half cocked, the club is not posting as far as I can tell.. It is the unofficial fan club posting. Good posts though.

Yeah, I got excited then realised it was just a re-post of things.

Who or what is Cody Angove?

Edit: I see now, a Giants player.

McKirdy's latest piece on growing the game in Sydney/Western Sydney:

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...d/news-story/3c6320a75ee88c26cebdcfb472fb816b

“For the AFL to be valuing the under-nines coach at Kellyville or Baulkham Hills or anywhere in the West … then hopefully in 10-15 years, we can help the AFL by sending them 10 new players that can go and be superstars.

It's funny how the only club/club president interviewed is the one who's at the head of the most successful/rich junior club in "Western Sydney". Then the claim that players like James Peatling are from Western Sydney, which they aren't...Pennant Hills just isn't Western Sydney. We've never referred to the likes of the McVeigh's or Lenny Hayes as coming from the west, so why do these Giants players get referred to as such?

I harp on about this all the time, but to grow the game in NSW, we need GWS to be doing their part in the West, which they aren't. They need to invest significant funds into clubs like Penrith, Emu Plains and the Blue Mountains who are all struggling since COVID. That's where they'll get some incredible players coming through the academy. It's been 13/14 years and GWS just continue to ignore them, while giving time and resources to clubs that don't need them.

Great post and now they have raided the ovens and murray by taking 6 players for the VFL and they want a base and access to the best around Albury . maybe that effort should be put into Western Sydney

The Age - Jake Niall's Top 30 players in the competition:

Still hurts ...
I was watching the Crows v Power practice match and the commentator mentioned something along the lines (re; Dawson) that he had a slow start at Adelaide and there were fears they had overpaid for him.
(Obviously leaving aside his after the siren winner in the Showdown in his 3rd game for Adelaide).

But thankfully he came good and became captain, an AA and two time B&F.
The sense being it was Adelaide who recognised and brought out the ability that was previously hidden away.

Total bollocks of course, but then again the Adelaide media are a very strange and insular group.

****ing annoying narrative nonetheless.

Dawson and Gulden are better than Chad IMO

At times, yes, but Chad more damaging than Gulden IMO and Gulden a bit too reliant on outside ball.
