Our general kicking has been shocking. We need to work on our skills. No doubt the effort was there and we did see some glimpses where the Swans were on attack and moved the ball quickly to the forwards. At times there are some who just stay stagnant with the ball once we get the momentum going. Leave MOL and his opponent at the goal square because, again, today we saw one play where we got the ball from the turnover but all the players were in defensive 50 and our forward 50 was empty! We had the ball going forward, nice free flowing and yet when McVeigh looks up, THERE IS NO ONE TO KICK TO!!!!!!

At one stage, i think it could have been leo barry looking for someone to kick it to out in defence, buchanan was there on the wing by himself and barry kicked it to a contest (which of course we lost, resulting in a goal). My point is, buchanan wasnt even a consideration to kick it to OR man up on.

i agree with almost every word
i thought jude was good again, and not sure about leo's "best game"
and bevan was among our best, very true, he's been real good this year

but i certainly agree on buchanan, spida and young smith, i thought mattner was ordinary today and i thought mcveigh and ablett offered very little
mcveigh went missing, like the bad old days, and ablett just doesn't use the ball very well

I was very unimpressed with what i remembered seeing from ablett.:thumbsd:

Not the greatest spectacle today, but pretty tough and honest....I'm not convinced that Sydney are "gone" yet...

But there are a couple of things to do to improve the effort....the most obvious is drop Spida....fair dinkum he is so over-rated, and if you guys are saying you have a guy coming through (Currie?).....bring him in ASAP!

The other is Kirk is a jet and Jude Bolts and co need to lift a bit more to take the load off him....(I thought JB was starting to do that when the Swans got within 15 pts late in the game....)

Anyway, good luck for the rest of the year.

Yes yes yes, we need to try something new and spida MUST be dropped this week, he just doesn't have it in him.

(sorry for repeating the same point over and over again) ;)

Spida might be slow and old but he still has great footy nous. He still finds himself in the right spot a lot of the time. He's not the weakest link.

yes, but at one point late yesterday, spida (using his undoubted nous) drifted away from the pack and got a loose ball deep in our defence
but he was so slow to pick it up and use it that he was tackled and fumbled it out of bounds as he looked to be trying to kick it (on his left, too)
it was awful

i'm not insisting all the older blokes go, or even that they're playing badly
but spida's body just isn't keeping up with his brain (someone else has made this point)
and he can't run
i've never seen a player so slow and cumbersome at this level
