Autopsy Sydney Vs Essendon Round 2. 2020

Are you sure skills can’t be learned at this level? Why have skills sessions at training then? Taylor Adams is one player who immediately comes to mind who couldn’t hit the side of a barn when traded and is now a very good kick.

Imo any improvement at this level comes from improved composure. These blokes have been kicking and handling a footy since they could walk, so if they can't hit the side of a barn by now I hardly think they would with more practice.

Horse's plan was clear yesterday, move the ball forward quickly, hence the rushing and nerves from kids like Blakey Rowbottom at important moments. Their composure will improve. But there's a few blokes who have been in the system long enough that it's clear they're just hopeless with their hands and feet.

Disagree. The Swans moved the ball forward very slowly yesterday which is why every time we went forward there were 15 Essendon players in our defensive 50. I lost count of the amount of times our players would take a mark and instead of moving forward stopped and waited 15 seconds before passing it 15m to another Swan sideways, or even backwards.

Mills is a strange case, he's in his 5th season and his stats are basically identical to his averages in his first season. For all of Heeney's faults he's at least been on the upward trajectory as the seasons go by.

You know what you're going to get from Mills and he's generally good in his role but it's hard to see what made him so highly rated in the draft.

What did Mills do to you? You have had a rather strong dislike for him for years boarding on the Bedford completely unjustified dislike of McVeigh.
He stole my Ferrari now drives it like a b grade defender that he is

Overrated but let’s be honest he is no better L McDonald

disagree, I thought we got back into the game attacking, we just dropped and fumbled or missed forward targets

even went down the corridor, couldn't fault the attempted game style yesterday imo

execution cost us

Stop overrating him and thinking he is going to become some elite mid.

Leave him there and don’t expect much more

agree with that

thought you wanted him delisted the way you were talking

he is a solid half back,

Yep, we were very fluid with our game play, didn't look like a one trick pony. The execution burnt us tho hence why horse was doing laps in the coaches box every 3 minutes, he knew we shouldve been well on top. If anything sometimes we attempted to go too quick for our own good which put it down the throat of hooker and hurley

Luke Parker, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a second offence of Careless Contact with an Umpire during the third quarter of the Round Two match between the Sydney Swans and Essendon, played at the SCG on Sunday June 14.
In summary, he can accept a $750 sanction with an early plea.
Based on available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Contact with an Umpire. The incident was classified as a $1250 sanction as a second offence. The player can accept a $500 sanction with an early plea.

Man, this board and it's expectations...

Last year when we played every week and we lacked skill, fitness and cohesion. Now we play our second game in 10 months and we lose our minds because we lacked skill, fitness and cohesion.
But every team played their second game in 10 months.

Not disagreeing with much of your rant, but I don't get this point, which others have made too.

I have my doubts. If it's a fresh approach that is needed, I'm not sure their track record suggests they're that willing to adapt, and implement something new.
The general concensus on this board is Horse hasn't done anything new on many levels, I totally disagree. However, I think it's time for a change of coach. No idea if this group under John can do what's needed.

Agreed. When was the last time John Longmire developed a star player, and I mean a player that is top 10% in the competition? I am sure there are one or two but I can't personally think of any, and Longmire has been coach for 10 years now.

Maybe Rampe?

I mean, what counts as Longmire having developed them?

Even the concept of the head coach taking responsibility for the development is a stretch to me, but are we saying which players have gone from not top 10% in their position to being top 10% during Longmire's coaching period?

Yes, pretty much that. I was thinking possibly Kennedy but a high portion of his development happened under Paul Roos.

Papley possibly. I think he would be top 10% as a small forward.

So perhaps Papley and Rampe? It isn't a big list for 10 years of coaching.

In saying that I could be forgetting someone.

Longmire was there with Roos the whole time though

he’s signed on, move on At least until round 7-8 surely

Not withstanding that JL is a head coach... and has one of the most expensive footy departments going around to "develop" players .

Parker, Rampe, Kennedy and Hannebery have all played the vast majority of and had the best periods in their career under Longmire.
