I don't think we can take papley into finals. I like the kid, but don't think he's ready for the big time just yet.

Would love to be proved wrong and have him make some crucial plays, but I think the more realistic outcome would be for him to go missing and mess up some critical passages of play.

Problem is, who replaces him? I do think think benny is up to it anymore. He would have been the likely replacement, but hasn't been able to contribute consistently given his age and experience.
Tend to agree with you. I think Jones could do some real damage up forward if fit. If not, BJ is a versatile option who can also play in the midfield. Quite concerned that the rise has been too sharp for Paps and he needs to be managed.

When he comes back there is no chance he will play in the ruck. NO CHANCE.
IMO the ratings for our ruck stocks:

Naismith>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sinclair>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nankervis>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>McGlynn>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Derickx
Tippett was being touted as one of the best rucks in the league up until his injury. He will share that load with Naismith if/when he returns.

I tend to think it won't be a like for like replacement with that position. If Reid is fit, I can see him slotting into the forward line with a bit of re-jigging required. If not paps, it will be filled by a mix of rohan, Heeney and other resting mids.

The position is paps if he steps up, but his form atm doesn't warrant selection during finals imo.

Benny would have to present an extremely strong case in the 2nds for a recall. Jones has been played in the backline all year so i wouldn't think horse would make that sort of gamble in finals. And the horse has bolted for bj for 2016.

I reckon Dawson is a little unlucky. He was obviously lining Lloyd up for a tackle, when he drops it, turns and bends to get the ball. From when Lloyd has his hands on the ball the first time to when Dawson hits him is about two and a half steps.
Hard to pull up that quick when you're thinking to yourself "i'm going to nail this bloke with the tackle" and he suddenly drops it.

Will probably be his last game for the year though.

Dawson is lucky to be on the field. Sub-standard hack who targeted our small good players. After hitting Lloyd with an elbow (since when is a leading elbow part of a tackle) he tried to take young Papley's legs out in the last quarter. Could have broken his leg. He had no intention of tackling or getting the ball on either occasion. And he targeted small players. Hope he gets 8 weeks and retires into football oblivion.

I'll have to watch it again to be sure, but from the replays they showed during the broadcast, he was clearly going for the bump and not the tackle. He seems like an incredibly reckless player. Late in the game one of the Dockers took a strong mark over a Swans player on the wing and well after he'd controlled the mark, Dawson came flying through the air to crash the pack. Just ridiculous and incredibly poorly thought through. He'll get weeks for his hit on Lloyd and deservedly so. He obviously hasn't learned from previous suspensions.

Didn't realise that was him sliding in as well. While I know that's a hard thing to cut out of your game as getting down low is taught (well, it was) from the juniors up, it just provides another instance of how reckless he is.

It wasn't malicious but it was reckless. He had other options beside the shoulder bump to the head. I know he was coming at pace but he didn't choose to tackle and when you go for the bump you either make sure you get it right or you take a little break. That's been made pretty clear.

Yeah, he will 100% go back there. I reckom we might get anywhere from s 50/50 split, to Tippett only rucking 1/3rd of the game.

Jones plays off the half back line? BJ can't get a game even though we have introduced a number of youngsters and plays in the midfield. How would either of these players do a better job than Papley as a small forward?

I really like what Papley brings to our side. I'd love for him to also be kicking 3 goals a game, but we need to remember he's a first year player coming off the rookie list. His forward pressure is excellent and means we're not just relying on Rohan to press in the forward 50. Even though he doesn't rack up huge numbers - when he plays, we look a better forward line.

That's a fair point. It's hard to quantify his pressure acts as an observer, but I'm sure the coaching staff are aware of what he brings and the impact he has on matches.

It's just that when a passage of play ends in his hands we need him to be able to convert his chances.

My concern is whether he'll be able to convert his chances come finals. Because that could make the difference in winning a premiership.

Whether his pressure outweighs any impact he has on the scoreboard is debatable I guess.

It would be good if someone could do some analysis with players we have waiting to come in and who they'd replace in the side. Would make for an interesting read.

PS. Against my better judgement, I'm asking: SBD Gonzalez Why do you call Heeney 'Fetish?? Ticky009 Who is Chande and why?
You can thank your boy Rampe for the Chand monicker. Which I'm sure will surprise no one on this board. Think we should get Rampes to take over the team nicknames, god knows Chand is an improvement on the usual add a Y option.

Dawson is the grubbiest player in the league. If he can't win the contest he'll do anything to hurt his opponent with blatant disregard for their safety.

And there's a difference between making your opponent 'earn it' and doing reckless shit that could cause significant injury.

He's a dirty snipping hack.

Thought Taberner wasn't far behind. Cheap shots all over the place.

Hard to take anything out of the performance when it was against a team that has won 3 matches. Infuriating we conceded two late goals. That percentage was pivotal.... Port - STK - Norf - Richmond. Can't see any percentage boosters there. Glad there were no injuries though.
Infuriating?

Don't watch the final quarter of the hawks game, you'll go bananas ;)
