Tarkyn played what could be his last finals for Collingwood yesterday in VFL. Over the last 12 years and 227 games he has given his blood and soul for the club. He was always an unselfish, hard and silent worker for the team, not unlike Scotty Burns. I do hope he gets a chance for a proper send off.:thumbsu:

Champion player and bloke.

Still embarrassed about interrupting him in 2003 on the eve of the GF. He was out having a drink with his family and I went and interrupted to wish him all the best with his knee reco and all the boys for the GF.

If it's the last we see of Tarks in black and white, I will be shattered.

IMO, he should be offered a contract for one more year.

Out of all the "oldies", Fraser, O'Bree and himself, Tarks is the one that offers the most going forward.

We would be playing Stkilda if it wasn't for this man, he kicked the vital goal against Melbourne, and has hardly been seen since.

He should be named as emergency next week, he is still in our best 25 players, without a doubt.

Guys I love Tarks for what his done for our club but he's finished.
He's too slow and can't chase or apply enough pressure when the opposition is bringing the footy out of their backline. Maybe his injuries have caught up with his body.

Yeah agree with mattys, he is the last oldie we have left that still shows signs of playing on for another year and should be a emerg choice. Even if he doesn't he has had a absolute stunning career with the mighty black and white and is a hard going but silent player who is respected by everyone. He has always tried his hardest in every game and thats what I love about him. If he does retire I hope he can continue with us as a coach which would mean the world to many supporters I say.

Congratulations Lockyer, a great player for the magpies over the years. :thumbsu:

It's a shame to see him go out like this. I've always loved the way he's gone about his footy. As some have said, would like to see him go another year, but times are changing unfortunately. I for one will miss his ability to find so much space and kick crucial goals, because lets be honest, he could drill goals better than pretty much anyone in our team.

It's sad but we must do what it best for the Collingwood Football Club.

Tarks has been a fantastic servant. Incredibly team oriented and loyal. Unfortunately, the game catches up with everybody. We have far too many youngsters that have stepped up and require more exposure to AFL senior level.

Well done Tarks and thank you very much

He still has all the skills he has always had, the problem is that his game was built on hard endurance running to create space. We now play such a fast brand of football reliant on burst running and igh interchanges, he has been robbed of his #1 asset, the ability tho gut run when his opponent has nothing left in the tank. As recently as 06/07 he could go on 100m repeat leads to take uncontested marks to give our defence an outlet, thats no longer needed and I don't think he has the legs to do it anymore anyway.

Unfortunately, at his age that means the elite game has passed him by. He can still be effective at AFL level for us when we need to call on depth, but he will never be best 22 again. I'd imagine he might call it a day as a result, but would be more than happy if he went on next year. Players like him as depth are invaluable, as you know he can come in and do a job for you.

Hopefully he can give a few boys some set shot training in the next few weeks!

I bloody hope it wasnt his last game for the club, we should offer him another year.

I love the bloke; always have, and he'll always be my favourite player.

However, in all honesty, I think he'd realised 12 months ago that this was where he was, and he wanted to get every little bit out of himself in his final year.

I love the fact that the bloke bleeds black and white, puts his body on the line for the good of the team. Through his career he's been unfairly criticised about earning "cheap" kicks off the half back flank but it's not as though he had awful delivery - you'd expect 10% more kicks hit their targets with Tarks delivering the ball out of the backline as opposed to the rest of our list.

He'll always be held in the highest regard and I'm hoping he can break back into the senior team f Davis goes down.

Thanks for the memories Tarks - we love ya. :thumbsu:

Shattered I didn't get to see him play at all this year for one last time. Flew over to Melbourne the week he was dropped for the Carlton game. :(

Great career, was never the same after his knee reco such a shame but should be so so proud of himself and what he gave for the jumper, a true warrior.

Unfortunatly i think the speed of the game has got him now especially in the defensive aspects of his game.

Would be a waste of a spot if we offer him another year.
He will be a year older, slower and more injury prone.

If it had been Tarks taking that last shot on goal yesterday, it could have been a different story. He wants to coach, so hope we can offer him something at the club.

A knightly player - loyal, a warrior and a gentleman.:thumbsu:

Well said Snag.

Tarkyn would have kicked that goal.

Champion guy, wonderful player for the Pies, so admirable in every way.

PS lethal burns, he would have been pleased you came up to him i'm totally sure.

How could anyone not feel special to be recognised as a Collingwood player, esp in front of his family?

I'll be happy to see TL back for the finals.. very composed player, very intelligent. Always sneaks into the 50 for a couple of goals and could be the difference on a big day.. with kids like Beams, Caff, Sidey, as well as Cloke looking like they packing shit having a shot on goal, we need someone with some composure to get the ball rolling and nail important shots..
Def an in for the finals..

This is true, that's how they do look. Who could forget the look on Caff's face when he stuffed those two against either geelong or saints earlier in the year. Look petrified.

Dawes i think looks composed, tarks always looks confident.

Sharrod is another who doesn't look confident.

Dare I say, like many others...practice, practice, practice.

Oh, and with a man on the mark too....derrr ( not that it happens...wtf!!)

I am afraid Tarkyn wont be remembered as he should be becuase he was on the outer this year. Prior to this year he was the most consistent Collingwood player and was probley the first person picked everyweek. He is a true Collingwood man.

Great servant of the club, got the best out of himself and definitely made a contribution. 10+ years, 200+ games, life member of the club. This chapter is nearly closed. Still a chance he could be called up during the finals depending on injuries and form, but after the season is finished, time to move on mate.

thanks for the memories tarks, you've been a beauty.

It's a real shame to see he might make way, I've always rated him enormously in terms of commitment, professionalism, determination, work ethic... not to mention impeccable footskills which would go beautifully in our side right now. We'll just have to hope that Didak, Brown and co. improve us in this area on their return. :(

Congrats on a sensational career in black and white, Tarks, here's hoping Charlie has inherited your talent. :)

To be honest I think the speed of the game caught up with him. In the Prelim last year I remember a footrace he had with Byrnes (who is no slouch), yet Tarks just couldn't keep up and Byrnes slotted home the goal. he has been a wonderful servant for the club, went about his business quietly and always did the jumper proud.

The day he did his knee in 03? against Geelong was devastating, and to come back from that low and play the way he did is a true testament to his character and ability

Well done Tarks!
