Both, young key position backman quickly making a name for themselves with a lot of potential.

He's done just as well if not better than Brown at the same stage last year.
Every Collingwood fan jizzed in their pants.
I'd take Pears, because he can actually kick.

I haven't watch much Pears, but i highly doubt he's better than Nathan Brown. I'd give away our first round pick this year to get a strong defender like him at Carlton.

Brown was fantastic in early 2008, shutting down Pav and the like. What has Pears done?

Pears has only just started performing and is being hyped up to the extreme.

Brown has gone past the hype and has turned into a consistent player who does his job and no longer gets the hype.

Brown was fantatsic on the weekend, has done good jobs this year, on the likes of Kosi and co and hasn't received the praise that Pears did. Pears got more credit for holding Bradshaw to 4 goals actually.

I'm expecting Pears to win this since he's getting the hype and being talked up currently. Flavour of the month. He's definitely promising and deserves his praise.

Brown has been performing for longer than Pears. Keeping Richo goaless and beating Pavlich and Brown was no fluke.

I'm being an idiot.
They're actually performed equally at this stage of the year.
Pears shut down Pav, kept Roughead to 2 goals after kicking 8 previously and Brown to 4 goals :p. (It's better than it sounds, he kept him to 1 goal IIRC until the final quarter where he kicked junk time goals. Young pplayers lose focus but we're happy with the way he's performed at Bomber Land).
Only time he was well beaten was against Kosi, but Kosi was well on his game that day and couldn't miss like his usual self.
But he kept him accountable by getting 26 possessin and providing plenty of rebound.

Also shutting down Pav. Kept him to 2 goals, 1 came from a freekick and one in open play . (IIRC he was the 2 vote in either the Age or Sun)

Pears will be an elite defender of the competition. He's only 19, played 14 games and is still very much developing.

Brown is 18months older and has played a few more games so its hard to compare as brown is a bit further ahead in his physical development.

Both clubs will be very happy with there respective defenders.

Nathan Brown... was great on the weekend and doesn't have a stupid name.

Tayte Pears? What is Tayte short for? Potato?

Potato Pears?

Yes, because a player's name really does determine their footballing ability, doesn't it?

Says he/she who has the likes of Cox, Dick, Goldsack, Sidebottom amongst others on their list.

Brown has the runs on the board, both should be very valuable players for years to come.

Expect this to turn into a wankfest of sorts really.

I'd love to see your stand-up routine.
Mine's better.
FIsh names are funny, right?
Salmon.. pfft come on.
Trout... no chance bud.
Flounder.... right?

Quoted How I met Your Mother.
But if the Collingwood supporter is making fun of Tayte's name, how about Jaxson.
Or Dayne Beams.

My question is where are all these idiots naming kids with these effing rediculous names? Never do I have someone I know introduce me to their newborn ''Steele'' or ''Ayce'' or ''Tayte''...

Would take Pears as I am very happy with what he has done so far. For a young player he has performed admirably on bigger, more experienced bodies. There will be times when he gets towelled up but his strength, agro, speed and poise will serve us well. Having said that I am also a big wrap for Brown and Pies supporters would be happy with having him, and rightly so.
