Tayte Pears vs Eric MacKenzie

McKenzie is a very good young player.
But I've seen both play.
McKenzie looks like a promising young player, but Pears already looks like he's played 100 games. Very composed, settled player.
The general of the backline with Fletcher out.

Hurley and Pears will be unstoppable.

On form so far Pears by a mile. He was drafted as a 17 year old but is now 18 and is shutting down some very good key fowards. He has played great on brown even though he kick 4 he still did a great job, roughead 2 and hawkins i think none.

Not being a smartarse but does McKenzie play on the best opposition forward? Being in Qld with no PayTV makes it hard to see many games and as such haven't seen McKenzie.

Have seen as many Bomber games as possible and I am stoked at the poise, strength and confidence of Pears. An 18year old leader of the backline that sees a fair amount of ball due to our "developing" midfield. Will hopefully continue to develop and with Hurley to come in I am confident we have our key backs sorted for a few years to come.

MacKenzie only let Riewoldt kick 1 on him (that was in the final few minutes) earlier in the season when we got belted by 97. He was our best afield by a mile on that day (despite Riewoldt racking up 20 possessions running up to the wing). He was up against Motlop when we played at home v Port and Motlop showed him up with his flair a few times. MacKenzie does take the best forward at times.

Seen Pears in a couple of games so far, he was pretty impressive, but its hard to really distinguish who is a better defender or who i'd prefer at this early stage.

Cheers. I'll be happy to keep Pears and you can keep MacKenzie and we can argue for the next 10 years over who is the best.

At this stage have to go with pears although E mac has looked impressive. Going forward they will be hard to split as Hurley will most likely hold down our key full back back position and either Hooker/Daniher CHB. Pears has pace and is versitile so could be used at either end of the ground most likely as a running half back i.e, (Sean Wellman)

McKenzie has been better defensivly, made less mistakes and been better on big forwards. He is also a full sized defender, like Hurley. McKeznei was really skinny when drafted so he has taken more time to come on.

How many Westcoast games have been shown in Melbourne?

LOL. That is a joke. Tayte Pears has hardly made a mistake and made many spoils each week. You say he's not full sized? Pears is an absolute unit.

Oh and just how many Essendon games have you seen sir?

Pears kept Hawkins goaless on the weekend.
