David King made a good comment on SEN this morning...

'If there's anything Carlton should be good at, it's walking their coach out the door. But it seems they can't even get that right...'

Kingy can't even fit through the door.

“Good on Carlton for waiting until after their season is over before going through the results of the review with the senior coach and footy department” doesn’t make a good headline, does it?

When journo outrage at not getting their story when they want it becomes its own story?
Come on Guys. Where is the benefit in keeping a coach in the fold one minute longer than they need to?

We can all see in Teague's pressers that he is a defeated man, in no way helped by the lack of support from the administrators of his club.

Put the poor guy out of his misery...

If I put my Collingwood schadenfreude beanie on …

… I would be far more concerned about Carlton’s competitiveness if they came out this week after all that’s happened and said “as a result of our review we are keeping Teague on as senior coach, but we are surrounding him with better support, Walsh will be coming on as footy boss” …

… compared to if they said “Welcome to Carlton, Ross the boss”

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Don't and in the absence of a story, the journo's make their own impatience the story, dressed up as outrage.
Do, and where is the due process, still shooting from the hip, etc.

The alternative? Fire him 2 weeks prior to the end? Even less time for "due process", but now it's about who Teague's keeping the seat warm for, on top of everything else. The noise would have been increased tenfold.

Due process?

When did the review start? When were the findings delivered to the Board?

You can't tell me they don't yet know whether or not he will be coaching next year - come on, man!

I fully agree with you on this one.

But it has gone too far - zero support for him over the past few weeks - he is a defeated and deflated man.

Sounds to me like Carlton want him to resign instead of sacking him and having to pay him out, trying to save some $$$. Can't see how he can possibly be a supported coach next year.

If it was a game of chicken between Teague and LoGiudice, my money’s on Teague.

seeing as the Club has a propensity to throw money down the drain, Teague’s payout would be chump change in comparison.

Teague , lloyd and liddle departure growing legs …..

Lloyd and Liddle are the bigger problem at the Club than Teague could ever be.

Lloyd has been useless, list was set up by SoS then they pushed for Williams and Saad last year, happy with Saad at least, but nothing else to improve the club through culture shift or sourcing new assistants etc.

Liddle might have help with the financials but stabbed SoS in the back because he had too much influence and has neglected nthe football department entirely.

Get rid of them both, keep Teague and get him better assistants and a Football manager than can help him set team and club standards to get the most out of the players.

Personally I think they have seen the backlash about Lyon, not only his Job interview with Caro etc last week but also the way he left Freo and what was behind that may have them baulking at bringing him in and Clarko has probably said he will take a year off, leaves them to keep Teague and then sound out Clarko next year.

Win/win situation, back the current coach, show support, win back some confidence from supporters that want to see change but also leave the door open for Clarko next year if Teague can't get the team to perform with all the changes, board can't lose.

All about the board saving face, nothing to do with making the right choice, just want to keep their seats is all.

Ha, It's a bit like the Blues are big on making proposals. Then soon after walk their coach hand in hand down the aisle, and straight out the front doors.
Whilst at the same time, bringing prospective beau's in via the back door, with Wads of rolled up promissory notes in recycled brown paper bags under they're arms.
The next dance belongs to?

Problem with that is that backing the current coach isn't compatible with a plan to sack him at the end of the year for Clarkson. You're either committed to your coach or you're not.

I know a couple of blokes who operate in that exact manner! (all except the brown paper bags and their contents)

'I guess we'll have to back you in for another year, unless a better option presents themselves in the meantime...'

What's the evidence that Carlton is considering sacking Teague? Genuinely curious as I'm a bit out of the loop.

Most coaching contracts these days have a clause where as they only have to pay out 6 weeks (don't quote that number, in that range though). It would shock me if Teague isn't on this type of contract given how he got the job to begin with.
