So would I. Nic has already played more club games for us than Gardy

He's played more games for the club than Judd now as well. Amount of games played shouldn't come into consideration, if it was than Mitchell White would be in the forward line ahead of Peter Sumich.

Don't think it'll take much persuasion for me to pick Nic in the next team, but right now I can't bring myself to do it.

I think a few more consistent seasons will see Nic Nat surpass Gardy by the time Team 35 and 40 rolls around, but right now I can't go past Gardy either personally. His last appearance for us wasn't crash hot but was arguably played out of position because he couldn't go to the centre bounces.

His season 2003 was something very special and reward accordingly with first ruck in the AA selection

Very controversial opinion but by the time the Team 35 and 40 roll around I wouldn't be surprised if Naitanui was starting ruckman.

B: Wirrpanda Glass McIntosh

B: Wirrpanda McIntosh Glass
HB: McKenna Jakovich Worsfold (C)
C: Mainwaring Kemp Pe. Matera
HF- Embley Kennedy Lewis
F: LeCras Sumich Ph. Matera
Foll: Cox, Judd, Cousins

IC: Naitanui Priddis Kerr Glendinning

Priddis in for Banfield easily, and as good as Pyke was, no way he's a better player than Kerr. It's hard to rate full-backs between the eras. Would Glass have been monstered by Lockett and Dunstall, or would guys like Tom Hawkins have kicked ten every second week if they had a 90s forward line to themselves? I'll take Glass anyway. And Tom Lamb is a gun, but hasn't quite done enough yet. Cut.

Agreed with everything except Glendining .Which was a great signing and a important player to lead the boys but not all time player for me .

It was in response to a post that Gardy was a gun over an extended period of time. Nic has equaled it imo. Ruck standards are as high as they have ever been and he is a gun.

First team:

B: Wirrpanda Glass McIntosh
HB: Worsfold Jakovich McKenna
C: Mainwaring Kemp Pe Matera
HF: Cousins Kennedy Lewis
F: Heady Sumich Ph Matera
R: Cox Judd Kerr
Int: Banfield Priddis Embley Naitanui

Second team:

B: Brennan Mackenzie Hart
HB: Hurn Hunter Waters
C: Braun Pyke Gaff
HF: Fletcher White Waterman
F: Evans Lynch LeCras
R: Gardner Stenglein Turley
Int: Butler Lamb Darling ?

22nd player in the second team could be anyone of a number of players. The last half of the second team was quite hard to pick.

Solid second team but I'd bench White, move Lynch to CHF and play Scotty Cummings. Sure a crippling pie addiction ruined him after two seasons but for a brief, shining moment he was a poor man's Lockett. Hell, I'd pick him just for the day he kicked ten against the Dockers.

FB T.carrol B.Hill A.Carter
HB A.Smith T.Gasper J.Brennan
C Lucas Crabb Notte
HF Weadon Mcdougall A.Edwards
FF Newman Antonowicz Fewster
R M.Embley Swift Mcginnity
I Beek C.Morton Mckinley B.Wilson
Would still beat Carlton

The Half Back and Centre lines I don't see ever changing. 9 John Worsfold Medals, 16 All Australian selections and 12 premiership medals between those 6.

Ain't that the truth - it will certainly take someone 'special' to displace one of those six.

The ruck (followers) division is heading that way too.

Glendinning does not warrant a spot. Only 2 seasons, average at best.

Great player...possibly yes
Great Eagles player....No

I actually like the actual team 30 that was named...Spot on I think.
Fair go ! Two seasons in which he captained the team and was the leading goal kicker. Rather better than average i'd say .

Be interested to know whether the team is picked in relation to having a balanced side to play a game or not?

I'm not sure we've had a more versatile player than Muddy Waterman. He'd be in my best 22 if the side was picked with a game in mind. If it was simply best 22 talents - than probably not.

The way Gaff is going (and truthfully the plethora of mids we have had) it is getting harder to mount an argument to keep Mainy in the side. It's a bit like shooting Bambi... Mainy was courageous and allowed Roo to push forward, but he was a pretty awful kick.

If I was picking a team in 2016 then I'd pick Gaff over Mainy at the same age, but the game has changed since the 1990s.

Mainy was keen on the blind up and under, but he stays in my team.

When Gaff leaps off the bench at the final siren in the GF with a bung ankle then we can talk...

Amen brother! And I like Gaff a lot, but blokes like him and LeCras still have a lot to prove.

Andrew Embley???

Andrew Embley was listed above as a candidate? WHAT! He was terrible at best and only ever had an impact on a game once per game, if that, he was near useless apart from 20 seconds per week. I used to always refer to him as "butter fingers" before butter was replaced by f***. Him and Ashley Hanson, and oh god he was sh t.

I can't believe Embley got to 250 games.

Wirrpanda Glass (vc) MacIntosh
Worsfold (c) Jakovich McKenna
Mainwaring Kemp Matera
Heady Kennedy Lewis
Le Cras Sumich Ph.Matera

Andrew Embley was too inconsistent.

His best - like the 2006 Premiership (which I said immediately after he should get the Norm Smith) - however when we needed players like him, Fletcher, Stenglein and A.Selwood to step up, they were no where to be seen.

Not in our B22.
