This is going to be a tough week for the selectors.

If they want to fit Kelly, Mackie, Rooke & Wojcinski into the team then they are going to have to find 4 players to leave out.

Even if Stokes gets suspended they would still have to drop 3 others. I think Byrnes & Varcoe are first in line to be dropped but anyone is else is going be extremely unlucky. Next in line to miss out would probably be Prismall, Taylor or Gamble. Taylor & Prismall both played pretty well today and deserve their spots.....and I can't see any way they would drop Gamble if Stokes, Byrnes & Varcoe are out. That would be 4 small forwards gone in one week which would upset the balance of the team too much.

Looking forward to Thursday night to see what happens.

Team for Qualifying Final
B: Enright Scarlett Hunt
HB:Milburn Harley Mackie
C:Selwood Bartel Corey
HF:S.Johnson Mooney Chapman
F:Kelly Lonergan Prismall
R:Ottens Ablett Ling
Int:Blake Wojcinski
Taylor Rooke
IN: Wojcinski,Kelly,Rooke,Mackie
OUT:Byrnes,Varcoe,Gamble,Stokes(susp)

OUTS
-Feel Gamble had to have a ripper today to snag a spot. Didnt and with good ins he will have to make way. No chance of snaring Lonergans spot as some have suggested.
-Byrnes- S**thouse. he reminds my of mccarthy, gardiner, playfair and kingsley in terms of frustation levels.
-Varcoe- Even though he had 15 possies today i still think he'll make way. Doesnt do enough.
-Stokes will probably get suspended not just for his "strike" but more because the carry over points from his head high bump in the NAB cup last year
INS
- Wojcinski has played two VFL games now to get back in good nick. 30 possies today, should be straight back in.
- Mackie just rested cos of the fact it was crap conditions ( no need to aggravate soreness) and hell be straight back in. Very important.
- Kelly might have some doubt over him because of calf injury. Automatic inclusion if fit. Expect him to play.
-Rooke should be selected but will have to perform well to keep his spot throughout the finals.

OTHERS
-Taylor very good today. Answered critics, kept spot
- Lonergan has 100% got the FF spot now. Hawkins wont challenge you wouldnt think
- Prismall has really lifted a notch in the past month or so and keeps his spot if Stokes suspended. If Stokes not suspended it will come down to a fight for two spots between Wojak, Prissa and Rooke.

I know ive omitted 4 crumbers but there dosnt seem to be too many others that could be dropped. Maybe only Taylor because the crows have a smaller forward line.

Out: Gamble, Prismall, Varcoe, Byrnes

In: Rooke, Wojak, Kelly, Mackie

If Stokes out, Gamble will stay in.

for some reason i dont think wojcinski will get a game.

i think it will be:

IN: rooke, kelly, mackie
OUT: taylor, gamble, stokes/byrnes

if they decide to play wojo then varcoe will be out and i think pris might be in a bit of strife aswell it just depends but adelaide have a smallish forward line so wouldnt suprise me at all if mackie came in for harry. if stokes doesnt get suspended then prismall will come out for wojo if they play wojo

This is from an article on the AFL website....not sure I agree with Bomber's assessment of Shannon Byrnes' game:

In terms of selection next round, Thompson conceded it was a concern Mathew Stokes had his number taken for striking West Coast midfielder Chad Fletcher, but added "we'll have to wait and see what happens there".
But he said adding James Kelly, Andrew Mackie, David Wojcinski and Max Rooke was going to make for a fascinating selection committee.
"The guys who were on the fringe, played really well and that was the big challenge for them – Shannon Byrnes, [Harry] Taylor, [Brent] Prismall and [Ryan] Gamble – all of those guys that people would presume would be first out," Thompson said.
"They played a fantastic game and that's all they could do."

Looking at this team I have a few concerns.

B: Enright Scarlett Hunt
HB:Milburn Harley Mackie
C:Selwood Bartel Corey
HF:S.Johnson Mooney Chapman
F:Kelly Lonergan Prismall

Int:Blake Wojcinski Taylor Rooke

The only concern I have is rovers, I don't think that Stokes will get done, however we never know in the MRP. I'd suspect that Kelly would most likely move to the bench in this team, with Taylor the unlucky one to miss out if Stokes gets off the ridiculous charge.

Against Adelaide we don't need another tall, and with Rooke and Wojak on the bench; either of those two and Corey could move back if required. Therefore having 3 backs on the bench (two of those are utilities), I doubt we'd need Taylor.

My team would look more like:

B: Enright Scarlett Hunt
HB:Milburn Harley Mackie
C:Selwood Bartel Corey
HF:S.Johnson Mooney Chapman
F: Stokes Lonergan Prismall
R:Ottens Ablett Ling
Int:Blake Wojcinski Kelly Rooke

Fair enough. I think we all know that the last spot will come down to prismall or taylor. This spot will normally be decided on who we play

No mention of Tvarc. Maybe bomber sees him in the 22?

I'm in the "don't think Gamble has done enough" camp. That's two poor ones in a row now. With competition for spots as it is, I think that puts him near to the back of the queue.

I also think Kelly might struggle to come up. Wojcinski is a cert by the sounds of things. As are Rooke and Mackie. I believe Stokes will be suspended for 1 week.

For me, that makes it:

In: Wojcinski, Rooke, Mackie
Out: Stokes (susp), Byrnes, Gamble

The following week, if Kelly comes up, Prismall is the unlucky one. Varcoe to make way for Stokes.

I have my concerns about Taylor but I think they will stick with him.

Don't know what Varcoe has to do to please some people on here. He doesn't get touches, they say he doesn't get the ball enough. If he gets 15 touches, they pick on something else about his game. I thought yesterday was probably his best game for the club. Not only did he get touches, he chased and harrassed causing turnovers, and one tap-on led to an Ablett goal. Stuff like that doesn't end up on the stats sheet, but I'm sure his team-mates and the coaching staff appreciate it, even if some of us on here don't.

True, the calibre of players that could come in this week are better than the esteem Varcoe is held in at the moment, but to say he doesn't do enough is a joke IMO.

I'm not sure if kelly will come up l hope so and l'm sure no monica 1 and half VFL games and straight in a AFL final not to sure on that one

B harley,scarlo,hunt

l would like harry to play first final would be good for him and l hope priss plays too

My justification for this side is that I believe the selection committee would rather find out in week 1 whether or not this squad will work. If it doesn't, they'll know what they need to do. Unfortunate for Taylor, but we need to make sure that our squad is as strong as possible.

Geelong V Saints next week.

I think we'll be seeing Harry, considering Riewoldt gave Harley a hard time last time we met them. They could also stretch us with King doing the rucking and Kosi up forward.

Can't wait.

If Prismall gets dropped, you can say goodbye to him i reckon.

He has been fantastic and deserves to be apart of it. His last month has been better than a lot of others that may be higher on the pecking list.

Geelong are spoilt for choice!

For what it's worth, the only player out of the guys coming back from injury that Lonergan on TSFS mentioned was a 'certainty' was Kelly. Why does everyone thing he won't pull up?
