what team would you guys like to see this week.

Personally, I think we've been going in too small. For the first three games this year we've been going in with six talls - Gardiner (who is now out), Cox, McDougall, Lynch, Carroll and Jakovich. Along with three utility players - Embley, Hunter/Staker and Judd.

Whilst the other 13 has been made up of smalls - Cousins, Kerr/Banfield, Fletcher, Matera, Wirrpunda, Sampi, Chick, Green, Humm/Waters, Braun, Morrison, Adkins and Jones.

For mine, you wanna go into a game with 8 or 9 tall players, but you can get away with only having 7 if you've got quite a few utilities (which we do) and a few of your small players are reasonably tall (which we also do - Jones is 188cm, Chick is 186cm, Green is 185cm).

But IMO you just can't go into a game with only 6 talls no matter what. This week we lost Gardiner early which meant we relied on just 5, and the week before we lost Doogs early.

So whos out - well Gardiner is injured so he's gone. Glass played WAFL I believe on the weekend, and given he's not an injury prone soughta go I'd bring him back in now. So there's one change straight up.

Given Gardiner is out, we need a back up ruckman for Cox. Seaby comes in. who for?? Gotta be for a small player. The most out of sorts small players are Chick and Green. I'd say on reputation chick will stay, so Green out.

Waters was solid so I'd keep him in front of Humm for the time being. The other possible change is the recall of Staker for Hunter...... given Staker is more of an attacker and Hunter is more of a defender I'd stick with Hunter (despite an erratic game against Essendon) becomes our problems are definetaly in defence.

There is some merit to bringing in Staker for Carroll. The other man that could be looked at is Paul Johnson.

Also what could change my opinion is if someone would give a bit of a rundown on the guys WAFL performances...

So for me.

In: Seaby, Glass
Out: Gardiner, Green.

Team:
B: Waters (takes Caracella*), Glass (taking Lynch), Wirrpunda (takes McGrath if he goes forward)
HB: Hunter, Lynch (taking Jon Brown), Morrison (takes Power)
C: Embley, Cousins, Judd (plays on the ball as fourth on baller)
HF: Sampi, McDougall, Jones
F: Adkins (plays up the ground as a second wingman), Jakovich, Matera.
R: Cox, Fletcher (takes Voss), Kerr (takes Akermanis)
Int: Chick, Carroll, Seaby, Braun.

*Big job for Waters. Caracella is classy but he's soft. Waters on him to try and rough him up big time.

possible variations i could live with:

1) start Seaby at FF, with Jakovich on the bench. I think we desperately need to fine a back up ruckman who can also play around the ground.

2) Bring Johnson into the team (starting at FF) rather than Seaby.

3) Bring in Johnson for MacDougall at CHF. Giving Doogs WAFL time for a week.

4) Bring in Johnson for Carroll. Give both Johnson and McDougall a crack at FF, CHF and time in defence during the game.

5) Bring in Staker for either Hunter or Chick. (Chick needs to find some confidence).

In ......Seaby & Johnson
Out.....Gardiner & Chick/Adkins

Seaby self explanatory ...ruck for ruck. Tall for a small just for structure.

Personally I dont favour Adkins development over Johnson's.

Glass / Gaspar run around again ....if you come back in it is fit. By round 5 - 6 you should have a much better idea of whether it should be a Hunter, McDougal or Johnson out there.

as i understand both are fit. both played WAFL on the weekend didn't they??

I don't mind giving Gaspar a few weeks at a lower intensity to get his body fit. As we all know hes very injury prone.

But Glass has never been one to get troubled big time with injury, so i'd bring him back as soon as he's ready.

Also just intrested why you'd drop Adkins?? Thought he was one of the better guys on the weekend (am currently watching the game - he just kicked the goal to give us the lead and i was very impressed with the passion he showed. As much of a fan of his that i am i didn't think he was all that keen on heading west......)

IMO Green has done a lot more to get WAFL time t han Adkins.

Glass and Gaspar actually played WAFL reserves didnt they? Big step up from injured to one hit out in clearly inferior competition then straight into the thick of it.

I understand that we NEED them back but rushing them and reinjuring them will only make it worse. Bring them back for the Derby.

Id be more comfortable with Kerr on Voss. Both hard nuts and Kerr has more pace. Id put let Judd go head to head with Akka. Fletcher on Power and of course they will decide who takes Cuz.

hasn't chick played on Voss and beaten him in the past?

C:Embley Kerr Fletcher
HF: Adkins McDougall Jones
F:Matera Johnson Sampi
R:Cox Cousins Judd

Im pretty certain that Carrol will not be dropped and will be the preferred option for Lynch.Woosha was happy with his last two games and the fact that Lloyd(out and out champion) kicked 8 mainly from usual 50/50 positions - what a champ- Woosha liked Carrols endeavour and the fact that in a few situations especially when playing in front beat Lloyd in one on one situations.
The problem is up the field in the way the oppo midfielders aregiven time to deliver the ball.BUT what do we do, we have Fletcher, Cuz, Judd and Kerr who are much more comfortable in playing freer role. This is why Chick, Braun, Embley and Jones are our keys. I remeber Wooden doing a great job on Aka and we win.
I liked Waters first up job and Carracella would be a good opponent.
Who do we play on the pace of Power and Aka?
If we can cut the influence these two have then we go a long way to winning. Adkins on Aka maybe, then who with pace on Power.
I like the idea Franky Mojo said about Chick on Voss.
Anyway big task ahead, hope we win!

Cant wait

Maybe so but it would still be interesting, much more interesting that seeing Carroll try to hide his free kicks.

I don't care who plays as long as it is accountable on our behalf and West Coast win!! :p

Doesn't that sound something from the Book Of Woosha

Yeah looked to be moving freely, however showed some terrible skills missing targets by along way. On the flip side took some great grabs and generally read the play well in the 2nd half.

Definitely a 1-2weeks away before he will be back in blue and yellow.

I'm awaiting this week with something approaching sick fascination, just to see whether' Woosh's midget fetish holds strong,

Definitely definitely need to bring in some tall timber for this game.

Johnson and Seaby should be dead set certs for Gardiner and Jakovich. Staker should come in for Green. I'd hang with Chick for now because he's ideal for tagging Voss.

It'd be nice if there was any chance at all of Glass playing but I think he's still a week away or therabouts.

Just do what we do with Glass....when Gassy takes a mark, just run Cuz, Judd, Kerr...hell anybody behind the mark so he can just give off a handpass :D
