what team would you guys like to see this week.
Personally, I think we've been going in too small. For the first three games this year we've been going in with six talls - Gardiner (who is now out), Cox, McDougall, Lynch, Carroll and Jakovich. Along with three utility players - Embley, Hunter/Staker and Judd.
Whilst the other 13 has been made up of smalls - Cousins, Kerr/Banfield, Fletcher, Matera, Wirrpunda, Sampi, Chick, Green, Humm/Waters, Braun, Morrison, Adkins and Jones.
For mine, you wanna go into a game with 8 or 9 tall players, but you can get away with only having 7 if you've got quite a few utilities (which we do) and a few of your small players are reasonably tall (which we also do - Jones is 188cm, Chick is 186cm, Green is 185cm).
But IMO you just can't go into a game with only 6 talls no matter what. This week we lost Gardiner early which meant we relied on just 5, and the week before we lost Doogs early.
So whos out - well Gardiner is injured so he's gone. Glass played WAFL I believe on the weekend, and given he's not an injury prone soughta go I'd bring him back in now. So there's one change straight up.
Given Gardiner is out, we need a back up ruckman for Cox. Seaby comes in. who for?? Gotta be for a small player. The most out of sorts small players are Chick and Green. I'd say on reputation chick will stay, so Green out.
Waters was solid so I'd keep him in front of Humm for the time being. The other possible change is the recall of Staker for Hunter...... given Staker is more of an attacker and Hunter is more of a defender I'd stick with Hunter (despite an erratic game against Essendon) becomes our problems are definetaly in defence.
There is some merit to bringing in Staker for Carroll. The other man that could be looked at is Paul Johnson.
Also what could change my opinion is if someone would give a bit of a rundown on the guys WAFL performances...
So for me.
In: Seaby, Glass
Out: Gardiner, Green.
Team:
B: Waters (takes Caracella*), Glass (taking Lynch), Wirrpunda (takes McGrath if he goes forward)
HB: Hunter, Lynch (taking Jon Brown), Morrison (takes Power)
C: Embley, Cousins, Judd (plays on the ball as fourth on baller)
HF: Sampi, McDougall, Jones
F: Adkins (plays up the ground as a second wingman), Jakovich, Matera.
R: Cox, Fletcher (takes Voss), Kerr (takes Akermanis)
Int: Chick, Carroll, Seaby, Braun.
*Big job for Waters. Caracella is classy but he's soft. Waters on him to try and rough him up big time.
