I'd like to see Pratt given a run, De Boer is going to need to be a run with for one of their better mids for a large period of the game.

Carlton had quite an intense game last week - would certainly be a let down.

I think the game plan needs to be out of the Paul Roos play book - their ruck is pathetic, if we can win the clearances and put their backline under the pump ..it is our best (and being honest probably only chance). Sydney just won the clearances and squeaked home the game.

We are the 7th ranked clearance team in the comp and Carlton are the 8th.

Going forward ...we have reasonable match ups for Fev (personally - Tarrant) and Betts (presonally - Hayden). Won't stop them but at least we have strong options when teams have 2 very clear avenues to goal.

Ruck is our greatest strength - we should destroy there ruck division and down the ground, Sandi could kick a bag if he pushes deep. Big test for how Mitchell has us structured.

Forward - they may struggle to stop Mcpharlin and Pav, especially if MJ and Sandi push deep.

Having said that ...on paper it looks like a Blues win, but on paper it looked like Sydney and WC ...and were we not meant to tear Essendon a new one?

Carlton are going to belt us. We are coming up against a midfield that will make ours look like a third world country.

That's the spirit :thumbsu:

They should drop them if they're playing like crabs

Agree.

Surely Pratt will play over Head I can't imagine them promiting him taking him to the gold coast just to watch from the sidelines. The Midfield looks pretty weak on paper without our two best midfielders (Palmer and Crowley).

Surely you would have Haselby ahead of Crowley? Schammer in the form he is in is a best 3 or 4 mid too. Ibbo is hard enough to do a tagging job and skillful enough to hurt them the other way. DeBoer can run all day and won't give an inch. Hill is the wildcard. I believe we have turned a corner and will give a good account of ourselves. Mightn't be enough to get over the line but so long as we play to our potential I'm happy.

I don't see any good reason for Head to play and will be disappointed if he is selected ahead of Pratt.

We are going to learn something about it that is for sure.

Hill, Hinkley, Schammer, Haselby, Duffield, Ibbo & De Boer - well it is reasonably quick and for one thing we are not going to be short on guys putting in an effort are we? I would suspect Duffield would be trying his guts out to cement a place.

Really Carlton's midfield is ranked what top 4? ....nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Crowley out definitely hurts us in this game, however we match up failry well against them....

Ibbo on Judd - time for a task to develop his game
Schammer on Murphy
Grover on Fevola
Dodd on Waite
Thornton on Scotland (defensive forward tag)

McPharlin into forward line
Pav predominantly midfield
Solly forward for pressure

I don't think we're without our chances this game, alot will depend on how deBoer, Pratt, Suban & Hill go in anotehr away game...1st time to Gold coast.

Can't wait to see Clarke, Pearce & Walters get games in the coming weeks & then Ballantyne, Mayne & O'Brien try & fit in after mid season break :thumbsu:

Exciting times ahead

Agree with the whole post. Espically the last part. We have nothing to lose! why not go out there and TAKE the game on! play like we did against Sydney and lets have some FUN!

Btw: want to see -

Tarrant have a good three minute wrestle with Fevpola. McPharlin to Squash the bug that is Betts. But most of all i want Sandi to send a message to sooknock by sending Kruezer and Cloke back to melbourne bruised and sore after taking on the MAN MOUNTAIN!!

Wouldn't be suprised to see De Boer with one hand on Judds shirt and the other on Murphy fighting after we have taking the ball away again.

:D

Didn't I hear last night that we had beaten Carlton 9 out of the last 10games!!!!

I am certainly going to pick the Dockers.
I won't say we are good things, but I give us a real chance.
Every body was raving about how good the Eagles mids were before the game last week but we carved them up.
We will miss Creepy for sure but Hase,Schammer,Hill will give them a run for their money.

Their form indicates they are vulnerable. The Hawks had them on the mat and let them back in. Make your own mind up wether it was good play from them or visa versa from the hawks.

Ok, we have looked pretty ordinary, we have also played some pretty good footy.
The fact is we both are traveling. We might even get a few neutrals at the game on our side.
After two wins the second being a come behind can only be good. I reckon our guys will be looking forward to this game big time for no other reason than to test themselves against a mid range top eight side.
If the opposition look at this as a 4 point hit and run game they'll be in for big surprise.
The football world expect us to lose, the opposition expect to win. They have all the pressure on them, we can go along just to play.

Fremantle:
B: Roger Hayden, Michael Johnson, Antoni Grover
HB: Nic Suban, Luke McPharlin, Steven Dodd
C: Stephen Hill, Paul Hasleby, Garrick Ibbotson
HF: Paul Duffield, Chris Tarrant, Clayton Hinkley
F: Brett Peake, Matthew Pavlich, Dean Solomon
Foll: Aaron Sandilands, Byron Schammer, David Mundy
I/C: Ryan Murphy, Matt de Boer, Luke Pratt, Scott Thornton
Emg: Marcus Drum, Josh Head, Andrew Foster

In: Pratt
Out: Ryan Crowley (foot

Sure Crowley will be missed, but what we have to remember is that he got injured VERY early last game and we played the majority of the game without him, AND STILL WON. So yes it will be aloss but if Schammer can step up like last week, Duffman to do the same, and Hill to continue to carve up the feild then we will put up a great show.

They beat the Bulldogs, but they have been shit in the past three weeks.

I think Carlton are hugely oversold. We're still crap, and there's every chance we'll get flogged, but there's just as many chances we can win.

You need to watch more footy. We were excellent against the Dogs and Hawks (despite a few turnovers in the first half against the Hawks).

I don't know who will win this weekend, but to continue saying that we're shit and oversold despite all evidence to the contrary, and none to back your own position, makes you look ignorant to be honest.

I think it could be a good game and I think it will depend almost entirely on how we handle Pav and Sandi. Bowyer was excellent on Buddy last week, but an out of sorts Buddy is a different thing to Pav, and Bowyer can't go in the midfield either. If he goes into the middle, I suppose someone like Waite or Hadley will have to go to him. Not sure if Waite is big enough though, and Hadley probably not athletic enough (or defensively minded enough). Hampson could be another one, but not sure if he has the footy brain for that yet.

Sandi is a different one. I don't think Ratts will be too concerned about the tap outs (unless we get that 3rd man up going again). I think he'll just plant Hadley directly in front where Sandi normally taps and tell the others to shark. Probably not a bad tactic given the strength of our midfield - even Bentick killed you guys last year at the dome doing that. I think he'll then tell Kreuzer and Hampson, who are both really, really athletic, to try get around the ground a bit and hurt Sanilands going the other way. If Sandi gets on top though, particularly going forward, we could be in trouble.

Bascially, I think it comes down to whether our midfield gets on top or not. If they do, and your talls are nullified a bit, we will go a long way to winning. But if McPharlin has another good game on Fev, and Pav and Sandi start hurting us around the game, I'm not sure we have the cattle to stop them. It's interesting to see that Ratts has gone a little bit tall in the named side - must want to keep his options open.

Anyway, good luck, hopefully its a good game.

So were the Eagles. At the moment no-one's form is worth rating except for Geelong and St Kilda. Everyone is beatable, as your team has proven three times this season.

You obviously haven't seen Sandilands a lot. He doesn't do the majorty of his damage via taps. Yes he gets almost all the taps, but his best asset is following up his own taps and creating a clearance. He leads the competition in clearances amongst ruckman. Last year he finished top 10 in clearances for all players. In the past two years ive never seen Sandilands run off his feet. In fact he plays his best games against the 'running' ruckman. He particularly likes taking apart Josh Fraser and invariably breaks even with Cox. Last week the Sandi/Johnson combo definately beat Cox/Lynch. If Cox and Lynch can't run Sandi off his feet im not sure Kreuzer or Hampson are going to. The funniest thing about the derby last week was Cox gasping for breath and Sandilands going strong in the last few minutes which won us the game.

I hope like hell Ratten informs his ruckman to 'run off' Sandilands. Because that tactic has never been a successful ploy against Sandilands.

Mind you im wary our midfield won't be able to breakeven with yours. We are very much in a development phase in the midfield. Your midfield may look very slick if they start dominating. THey'll be sharking taps left right and centre if our midfield becomes overawed. Freo and West Coast fans can tell you, the best ruckman in the league can't make crap midfielders look good. No matter how hard they try.

Well it should make for an interesting contest between him and Kreuzer then, because that is far and away Kreuzer's biggest strength as well. I'm looking forward to really seeing where Kreuzer is at against a top quality opponent

The weagles kicked like 9.20 against us. If they hadn't been so shit converting they would have easily belted us, their midfield dominated for most of the match.

Since when one [and a half] quarter out of four is MOST of the match.
I think it is obvious that you didn't watch the game. Come on, admit it.

Carlton are going to belt us. We are coming up against a midfield that will make ours look like a third world country. The other issue is they have a few players who won't mind lining up our younger players so let us hope we get through it unscathed injury wise.

So Mem's did we win this one or did another more highly rated midfield just manage to somehow lose it again?

I actually thought Carlton's midfield may have the tank to beat us?

Memories is currently entertaining his blow up girlfriend and will be available again on Monday to explain why we are sh*t, should be tanking for draft picks and how Hill is no good. No doubt there will all be a bit of Nietzsche thrown in to chastise us for being happy about winning when we'd be far better off losing all our remaining games and trading Pav.

If Ratten wasn't worried about Sandi before the game, he might be now. As for the sharking approach - well that didn't really go too well, did it?? Most of Sandi's taps were to our blokes' advantage - this is one area where he is really improving IMHO. And as goochie pointa out, his ability to get his own taps and turn them into clearances is amazing - that quick snap around the body in traffic (which set up the Mundy goal) was one of the best bits of agility in play I've seen from any ruckman this year.

I thought Kreuzer was good, but Sandi still pantsed him over the four quarters. In the 4th quarter, especially in the last 5 minutes, Sandi just kept charging around - for me, Kreuz seemed to run out of puff a bit. Hampson is a decent tall utility, but he's not a ruckman. Sandi really must be one of the fittest, hardest running rucks in the comp - especially considering he doesn't have a true specialist second ruck to back him up.

Either that or he's out back shooting free throws again...
