I'm very happy with those changes.

Also quite interesting to see Mr. Hawkins on the emergency list.
There might be a few skinny kids from West Coast trembling at the prospect of the big fella possibly being a late inclusion. ;)

interesting to see wojcinski isnt getting a run before the finals... i would have thought he would be back in our team as soon as possible...could there be a late change?

Presume this means that neither Hawkins nor Wojcinski will play VFL? Would have thought that they both need game time before the finals. Guess the coaching staff know where they are at.

Stokes swoops into side

Geelong has brought back speedy forwards Mathew Stokes and Ryan Gamble for its clash with West Coast at Skilled Stadium on Saturday.

Making way for the pair is Max Rooke with a one week suspension and Shannon Byrnes who has been omitted.

Stokes and Gamble both missed last week’s game with North Melbourne due to soreness.

No matter the result of the weekend’s game, the Cats will finish off the season as minor premiers for the second year running.

Why? His performances this year certaintly don't warrant him a spot straight in after missing several weeks with injury, not with Prismal, Gamble, Stokes etc all playing great footy. Who would you drop for him? Wojac is finished in '08 unless we get injury troubles.

That's the last we will see of Byrnes for 2008 im afraid (;)). Good to see Gamble given a late opportunity while Stokes is always a fantastic inclusion.

Best team we've had on the park this year i reckon. (Kelly for Taylor/Varcoe/Gamble would be the only unforced change for the finals - Wojcinski's a long shot IMO given how much footy he's missed)

Why?

Wojcinski is no walk-up start. Reality is, he's been out for too long and won't get back in for finals.

My only change for the finals from this team would be Kelly in for Varcoe.

Rooke has been playing forward and not providing much at all. Gamble is a better option.

Correct... If it came down to it, I'd take Gamble in a heartbeat. Much more productive in the forward line and Rooke is struggling to find a comfortable position/role in the team.

Will be interesting to see if Wojo plays in the VFL? I assume so.

I still think he is in our best 22. Changes for first final will be Kelly, Rooke and Wojo in, for Varcoe, Gamble, Prismall (Taylor needed in defence against Roos).

But then again, we should just take it one week at a time - nah, screw it - Bring on the finals!

It could be the last time we see Byrnes fullstop

Who for though? Why discuss ins without telling us who you would remove?

Ah, let me just get my crystal ball...

Depends on injuries and such. But under the pump would be Prismall, Varcoe, Gamble and Taylor.

Not saying any of them deserve to be dropped. I just believe that Wojcinski is seen by the selectors as an important player and one that will return when fit.

(Taylor needed in defence against Roos).

Only because Harley refuses to play tall. Really, all we should need is Milburn, Scarlett and Harley as our 3 tall defenders, but Harley is not taking on the talls. Harley is being used as a lose player and is not very effective by foot / hand and is not quick on his feet. He does play the 3rd marking man well, but won't take the dangerous opposition players one on one.... why? Why not put yourself on Hale on the weekend?

Looks like a reasonable statement to me... If Harley could take a tall we could bring in Wojcinski/Rooke for Taylor.

I'm guessing it's because the selectors decide match ups. Doh!

Rooke and Wojcinski doubters need to listen to Bomber and read the GFC website more regularly - both are considered important parts of the Geelong structure.
