well those changes seem quite necessary/ok would of been good to get another game into mcevoy but you cant keep kosi out if fit and no room i hope its geary and not allen i liked the way allen presented last week and prob will add more spark then charlie gardiner will in the long run. def give him another game lets hope milney and dal show that they deserve the recall!

Rapt that Allen is still in :thumbsu:

Could we possibly see Roo play a Richo role and Allen & Kosi as the main targets?

For the Roos

In: Power
Out: Lower

Birss >>> Dempster, McQualter, Blake and Eddy as tagging options

Also I for one would have preferred Big Ben to get some gametime ahead of Charlie Gardiner.
Yes , I would have rated Birss ahead of Dempster and McQualter.
I hope we don't have to replace one of the taggers with an emergency!
I would have liked to see McEvoy have another go at ruck against an easier opponent. ( You could call him Big Mac instead of Big Ben , but McDonalds would sue ).

Anyway the team seems OK if they spark up as much as last week.
I wonder if they will actually play as listed.
Armitage starting forward could be interesting.
Fisher and Goddard can provide plenty of run out of the back.
Lenny out is a worry but if Dal sparks up the way we are expecting him to it could be OK.

I'm a bit disappointed about McEvoy as emergency only, especially if he'll play as a forward for Casey (named as a forward - Haretuku has been selected along with Rix).

I guess that Milne, despite his known problems away from Melbourne, deserves his spot after his performance for Casey last week, but I would have kept McEvoy in there for Gilbert (who started as a forward last week and appears to lack fitness).

I read somewhere that Lyon has hinted that Koschitzke could play in the backline (when not busy as the backup ruckman for King - unless Blake will ruck again), hence leaving another spot in the forward line for McEvoy, provided that Riewoldt plays a similar role as last week (Allen can also play in the backline if required).

He may have lost every contest in the ruck last week (but that was against the Freo giants !) - will the decision to not play him for the Saints despite M Gardiner still being out and to apparently play him as a forward for Casey mean that we've given up for him to develop into a quality ruckman ?

I think they're excellent ins and outs. In reality, McEvoy needed to be dropped and will probably cool his heels at Casey for the rest of the year. He was great around the ground, but not a single tap out is pretty damning. Can you imagine the posts on this board if Rix did that?

Nevertheless, I think he'll live up to the hype in the end, McEvoy. It was an extremely promising debut.

Wait what? Why would we give up on a first year, top ten draft pick becoming a ruckman just because he was beaten the the leagues best tap ruckman? Rucks take a long time to develop, I wouldn't read anything at all into his omission.

I sure hope you're right.

Koschitzke (and to a lesser extent also Riewoldt) were both drafted as potential ruckmen - but we didn't stick to that position for long and you don't really want to see either rucking these days...

Let's see where he'll actually play for Casey. And then again, we may see another late change on Saturday.

I think Kosi and Roo were recruited purely as KPP.
Both were around 193 cm when recruited, just that Kosi kept growing.

fair enough - I will not argue on this one

(just a bit disappointed that McEvoy does not get another chance)

Yeah Im happy with the ins and outs should be a good game
i think we will go good on the gold coast Gibert,Roo back home
should count for something theres a fair few supporters up here
to cheer em on to ill be there cant wait!

Happy with the team. Except Gilbert does not warrant selection on current form and fitness. Should be with Casey. How does Fiora keep getting into the emercengies? VFL form was not great.

I don't mean to diss Fiora but he's a bit like Yze - a barometer of the team's performance, rather than a driver of it. If we had a second half of the season like last year (please, please, please) and started playing good footy, I reckon Lyon would be intersted in slotting him back in. Goes well when we're going well.

any word on Ferguson? injury update says he should be availiable by this week?
he playing for Casey this week?

would like to see him get another go up forward

Well it looks like we're making another statement but it's a completely different one this time round. Last week we gave the young blokes a chance, this time we're bringing back the big guns for what really is a do or die game if we see ourselves as a finals contender.

Like most people I would have liked to have seen McEvoy get another game. I realise he was comprehensively beaten around the ground but he won't come across an opponent of that size again this season. Still, he's had a taste of league footy and he'll hopefully go back to Casey determined to win his place back.

Gilbert's probably lucky to have kept his spot but the trip back home to the Gold Coast will hopefully do him some good. Geary could do with a run in the VFL and unfortunately Hayes is a massive loss. You just don't see many individual performances better than his first quarter last week and we'll greatly miss presence around the ground. I'd have played Birss too, thought he and Dempster would have been good match-ups for Thomas and Campbell but not to be.

Difficult week at selection. Is one week enough for Dal and Milne? Can Kosi fill a ruck void? Did Gilbo need a rest (or is Sainter right)? Could Lenny be risked? Macca instead of Chucky? Birss had 32 poss, but not good enough (too slow to play on Harvey/Campbell/Thomas)?

I note Fergie is back (named with Casey), but none of the other guys (Schneider, Baker etc).

Geez I hope Milney pulls the finger out for a change (interstate). Don't know whether they have anyone to go with him if he is "up".

Out of the three debutants last week, McEvoy was the least impressive, and with the Kangaroos playing a part-time ruckman in Petrie, the selectors obviously think that Kosi and Blake will suffice. Good to see Allen get another game, and the ins are fine with me, although I would have probably left Milne at home for reasons well known to all.

I looked back at your predicted team Punter (on the other thread). Not that far off. Milne is fortunate to come in and Chucky seems lucky to stay in. Hopefully both will repay the faith.
