Pick 1). GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY –Tom Boyd
Position: Tall forward
Height: 200cm
Weight: 103kg
Born: 22/8/95
Home club: Eastern Ranges

The power forward from the Eastern Ranges will be the No.1 pick this year. Boyd played just two matches with the Vic Metro during the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, but kicked nine goals and that was enough to secure All-Australian selection. An ankle injury suffered against WA ended his national campaign, which sidelined him for three-month layoff complicated by a calf niggle. He kicked four goals on his return to footy in the TAC Cup Grand Final. When the ball comes in, Boyd protects the drop zone well through body use and reads the flight of the ball. On the ground, he combines leg speed with a long, accurate shot for goal. With a forward line of Patton, Cameron and Boyd, GWS are primed for success for the next decade.

Pick 2). GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY – Josh Kelly
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm
Weight: 75kg
Born: 12/2/95
Home club: Sandringham Dragons

A medium midfielder who combines precision kicking on his preferred left foot with an elite running capacity. He ran the second-fastest 3km time trial to date in the recent draft combine (9m 32s), an effort that came as no major surprise given his aerobic ability. A strong showing in the Under-18 Championships, where he averaged 27 disposals in four games, culminated in All-Australian selection. Shows composure beyond his years and has excellent endurance. Hard to see GWS passing on Kelly, he is a great athlete as the belong combine results demonstrate.
Combine Results:
* Ranked 7th Running Vertical Jump Result (cm)
* Ranked 5th Repeat sprints (seconds)
* Ranked 9th Beep test/shuttle run
* Ranked 1st 3km time trial result (mins: secs)

Pick 3). ST KILDA – Jack Billings
Position: Medium forward
Height: 185cm
Weight: 76kg
Born: 18/8/95
Home club: Oakleigh Chargers

A medium-sized forward who is excellent on his preferred left foot, particularly damaging in and around the goals. Billings is a versatile player who can also play through the midfield and off half-back where his awareness and vision is elite. He kicked three goals in the last round of the Under-18 Championships against Vic Country to secure All-Australian honours for the second time after an excellent 2012 campaign as an underage player. Billings combines a strong overhead mark with an ability at ground level are his strengths. St Kilda need a goal kicking midfielder with elite skill and Billing fits the bill.

Pick 4). WERSTERN BULLDOGS – Matthew Scharenberg
Position: Tall defender
Height: 191cm
Weight: 88kg
Born: 18/9/95
Home club: Glenelg

The South Australian is extremely composed in his disposal and shows great temperament in heavy traffic. Scharenberg is a 191cm key position player who is equally comfortable forward or back. Had an outstanding NAB AFL Under-18 Championships which saw him collect back-to-back All Australian selections in 2012-13. Scharenberg came runner-up in the Larke Medal for the best player in Division One and his ability to read the play and strong hands make him an unstoppable force in the air. Is considered a strong chance to be selected in the top-five in this year's draft. With Goodes, Murphy and Morris are at their twilight of their careers I have Scharenberg going to the Bulldogs.

Pick 5). GOLD COAST – Kade Kolodjashnij
Position: Tall defender
Height: 191cm
Weight: 79kg
Born: 9/8/95
Home club: Launceston

An impressive NAB AFL Draft Combine completed Kolodjashnij's rise to becoming a genuine top-10 prospect at this year's draft. A versatile tall defender, the Tasmanian won both the running vertical jump off the right leg and the vertical relative jump; demonstrating his supreme athleticism that helps him cover the ground. A late inclusion into the AFL/AIS Academy at the end of last year, Kolodjashnij continued to go from strength-to-strength with an impressive NAB AFL Under-18 Championships in which he won the Division 2 Harrison Medal and Tasmania's Most Valuable Player award. A smart user of the ball on his preferred left foot. Guy McKenna stated he wants a rebounding half back and Kade is the best available at this pick.
Combine Results:
* Ranked 1st Standing Vertical Jump Result (cms)
* Ranked 9th 3km time trial result (mins:secs)
* Ranked 4th Clean Hands (Handball) Test Score (Efficiency %)

Pick 6). COLLINGWOOD – James Aish
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm
Weight: 74kg
Born: 8/11/95
Home club: Norwood

The silky midfielder with excellent disposal efficiency on both sides of the body and his ability in heavy traffic. Aish could feature heavily in his first year in the AFL system after a long apprenticeship of senior football. He broke an SANFL record by debuting as a 16-year-old and in his time at Norwood has learned what it's like to play against bigger bodies. Aish received All-Australian honours in both 2012 and 2013. Will be a steal for the Collingwood football club and they still might end up with Bontempelli with pick 10.

Pick 7). BRISBANE – Dom Sheed
Position: Midfielder
Height: 187cm
Weight: 83kg
Born: 10/4/95
Home club: Subiaco

A Western Australian midfielder who won the Larke Medal for the best division one player in the Under-18 Championships, despite suffering a broken collarbone. Sheed wins his own footy around stoppages; a telling reflector of his strong work ethic. Despite not displaying prolific speed, he has a mature body and is expected to feature in his first year in the AFL system. The left-footer is also catching the eye of recruiters for his decision-making by both hand and foot, especially in and around traffic. Averaged 28 disposals and six clearances in the Championships and was a dominant force against the other top under-18 talent in the country. With mass exodus of players leaving Brisbane, the retirement of Simon Black and Moloney entering the twilight of his career, the Lions need the best available talent at this pick and it should be Sheed, only if Scharenberg or Aish don’t slide.

Pick 8). NORHT MELBOURNE – Luke McDonald (Father/son)
Position: Medium defender
Height: 190cm
Weight: 85kg
Born: 9.2.95
Home club: Werribee

The fact that North Melbourne have committed to McDonald at pick eight is a huge indication of the kid's talent. A rebounding defender with the ability to push into the midfield, McDonald possesses the leadership qualities and a booming left foot very much in the mould of Luke Hodge. Vic Metro's captain for this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, McDonald should find the transition into the AFL easier than most, having spent a season playing senior football in the VFL for Werribee.

Pick 9). MELBOURNE Nathan Freeman
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm
Weight: 85kg
Born: 16/6/95
Home club: Sandringham Dragons

Another genuine clearance specialist with excellent endurance and pace, Freeman tested impressively at the NAB AFL Draft Combine. The youngster from the Sandringham Dragons took out the repeat sprint event and came second in the 20m sprint testing, while also recording a top 10 result in the beep test and 3km time trial. An accomplished ball-user on the outside with an explosive change of direction, Freeman also has the ability to find his own ball with his strong build and ability to read the contest. He improved the defensive aspect of his game in 2013 and will be a tantalising prospect for any club looking for a line-breaking midfielder. Melbourne needs run and carry on the outside and Freeman is their man.
Combine Results:
* Ranked 1st Repeat sprints (seconds)
* Ranked 10th Beep test/shuttle run
* Ranked 10th 3km time trial result (mins: secs)
*Ranked 2nd 20 Meter Sprint Result (seconds)

Pick 10). COLLINGWOOD – Marcus Bontempelli
Position: Tall forward/defender/midfielder
Height: 194cm
Weight: 84kg
Born: 24/11/95
Home club: Northern Knights

The rangy Bontempelli can play both tall or small and in the midfield or forward line. He combines excellent durability with agility levels that make him extremely coachable. Bontempelli reads the play well and makes good decisions when the ball is in his hands. Despite a relatively quiet Under-18 Championship, he delivered an impressive 79 per cent disposal efficiency. A solid year for the Northern Knights at TAC Cup level confirmed him as a likely high draft pick. An AIS-AFL Academy graduate, like many of his elite peers. Collingwood gets their man in Bontempelli at pick 10.
Combine Results:
*Ranked 1st Clean Hands (Handball) Test Score (Efficiency %)

Pick 11). WEST COAST – Ben Lennon
Position: Medium forward
Height: 189cm
Weight: 80kg
Born: 5/7/95
Home club: Northern Knights

One of the more tantalising propositions in this year's draft as a half-forward/midfielder, Lennon gives this draft a dose of excitement. He marks strongly on the lead and is sharp by foot, but also knows his way around goal, fires bullet passes and backs himself with the ball. He was among the better kicks at the Draft Combine and was a three-way winner of the handball/clean hands test. Over a five-week stretch during the Under-18 Championships with Vic Metro, he averaged 28 disposals a game running through the midfield. Lennon goes to West Coast and should feature in his first season.

Pick 12). RICHMOND – Christian Salem
Position: Midfielder/Defender
Height: 185cm
Weight: 78kg
Born: 15/7/95
Home club: Sandringham Dragons

A strong and damaging midfielder by foot, Salem can hurt the opposition with pinpoint kicks inside 50. He averaged 15 disposals and a goal in his four games at the Under-18 Championships and was noted for his competent decision-making. Salem's size makes him dangerous in and around the contest. Is a good overhead mark and, when the opportunity arises, rarely misses when in front of goal. Richmond have been recruiting players the last couple of years that have excellent foot skills and I don’t see them deviating from that method.

Pick 13). CARLTON – Cameron McCarthy
Position: Tall forward
Height: 194cm
Weight: 83kg
Born: 1.4.95
Home club: South Fremantle

The leaping West Australian turned to footy in his teens, having come from a cricket background. An impressive NAB AFL Under-18 Championships catapulted him into top-20 contention. He stepped up to deliver the game-winning goal against Vic Country in round four of the Championships, before suffering a broken leg in the final round against South Australia. A great mark and shot for goal, he is also highly rated for his ability to read the ball in flight. Carlton recruited run and carry players during trade week and need to start developing a key position forward with Waite being in his twilight of his career and also being injury prone.

Pick 14). GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY – Blake Acres
Position: Midfielder/medium forward
Height: 190cm
Weight: 87kg
Born: 7/10/95
Home club: West Perth

A versatile prospect with good endurance, Acres has shown he can adapt to any role asked of him. A shoulder injury suffered early in the season threatened to derail his NAB AFL Under-18 Championships for Western Australia, but he returned for the last two games of the carnival and made a handy contribution. Having spent time playing senior football for West Perth, Acres showed he is equally adept at rebounding off half-back and cutting up opposition sides with his slick disposal. Strong overhead and wins the football on the inside and outside. GWS needs to add height to their midfield and Acres is the perfect fit for GWS as he can play in variety of positions.

Pick 15). SYDNEY – Billy Hartung
Position: Small midfielder/defender/forward
Height: 178cm
Weight: 67kg
Born: 24/1/95
Home club: Dandenong Stingrays

Hartung turned heads at the NAB AFL Combine by running a 16.6 in the beep test to break the record held previously by Hawthorn's Bradley Hill. However, he brings more than just the ability to run all day. Also Under-18s All Australian. Hartung is quick and possesses great evasive skills, and can be relied upon to hit up a target when the ball is in his hands. Despite being known as an excitement machine who loves to take the game on, the Dandenong Stingray showed he possessed the defensive skills to quell the influence of likely top-two pick James Aish in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Has the ability to push forward and kick long goals on the run. Sydney needs run and carry. Hartung can play off half back, wing and half forward. Sydney needs to start rebuilding their back six and I see Hartung playing his career of half back.

Combine Results:
* Ranked 1st Beep test/shuttle run

Pick 16). GEELONG – Matthew Crouch
Position: Midfielder
Height: 183cm
Weight: 80kg
Born: 21/4/95
Home club: North Ballarat Rebels

Crouch played only two matches with Vic Country throughout this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships after breaking his hand. Crouch, who has displayed excellent TAC form when fit, proved his ability in the final round of the Championships with 27 touches against Vic Metro. With Corey and Chapman retiring, Geelong need an inside midfielder who can free up and ease the pressure off Selwood.

Pick 17). FREMANTLE – Trent Dumont
Position: Midfielder
Height: 186cm
Weight: 85kg
Born: 30/6/95
Home club: Norwood

Hard, tough and with a little bit of dash, Dumont could step easily into the AFL system having starred in Norwood's recent SANFL premiership, collecting 20 disposals in a close to best on ground performance. Dumont has a damaging right foot and his experience against mature bodies in the SANFL will hold him in good stead. He is expected to be selected inside the top 20. Part of the supreme South Australian midfield group, Dumont averaged 17.2 disposals in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Fremantle lost a couple of depth midfielders via the trade and with Mundy at the twilight of his career, they need the best midfielder available .

Pick 18). ST KILDA – Lewis Taylor
Position: Small midfielder/defender/forward
Height: 175cm
Weight: 75kg
Born: 17/2/95
Home club: Geelong Falcons

Powerful and quick, Taylor elevated himself into high-end draft contention with a superb NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. The Vic Country captain averaged 25 disposals while operating at 78 per cent disposal efficiency rate throughout the Championships; an effort which saw him claim All Australian honours. At only 175cm, he has ability to cut sides up throughout the middle of the ground with his pace and elite endurance. Missed the Geelong Falcons' finals campaign and the NAB AFL Draft Combine with a stress fracture in his foot.

Pick 19). ST KILDA – Luke Dunstan
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm
Weight: 83kg
Born: 29/1/95
Home club: Woodville West Torrens

Highly touted for his ability to play the game, Dunstan also boasts leadership credentials likely to see him selected inside the top 20. The Woodville-West Torrens product was captain of the victorious South Australian team in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, also winning All-Australian honours. Dunstan averaged 23 disposals of which almost 40 per cent were contested, making him a joint winner of SA's MVP award. He has been sidelined of late by a leg injury.

Pick 20). GOLD COAST – Jonathon Marsh
Position: Tall forward
Height: 192cm
Weight: 87kg
Born: 17.10.95
Home club: East Fremantle

Marsh threw himself into contention after a great NAB AFL Under-18 Championships with Western Australia. His performance against the Northern Territory, where he gathered 22 possessions and kicked four goals, raised eyebrows from talent scouts around the country. Marsh offers plenty of upside for clubs looking for a forward. At the Draft Combine, Marsh won the 20m sprint with a time of 2.78s and finished third in the repeat sprints in a time of 24.18s.

Combine Results:
* Ranked 3rd Repeat sprints (seconds)
* Ranked 8th Standing Vertical Jump (cm)
*Ranked 1st 20 Meter Sprint Result (seconds)

Pick 21). PORT ADELAIDE – Mitch Harvey
Position: Tall forward
Height: 197cm
Weight: 95kg
Born: 17/8/95
Home club: North Adelaide

At 197cm and 92kg, Harvey could be selected to slot straight in at AFL level as a forward rotating through the ruck. A strong contested mark, the North Adelaide product displayed fantastic athleticism in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, where he also showcased his improving ruckwork.

Pick 22). BRISBANE – Zak Jones

Position: Medium defender/ Midfielder
Height: 181cm
Weight: 76kg
Born: 15/3/95
Home club: Dandenong Stingrays

A medium-sized defender who is rarely beaten, Jones has the ability to play on both the small and tall forwards thanks to his closing speed and solid contested marking. Had an outstanding 2013 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and was subsequently named as Vic Country's Most Valuable Player, as well as being selected in the All Australian team of the carnival. Strong overhead for his size and a good decision-maker.

Pick 23). ADELAIDE – James Tsitas
Position: Midfielder
Height: 181cm
Weight: 78kg
Born: 3/3/95
Home club: Geelong Falcons

Medium midfielder with an appetite for the contest. His work rate and endurance are excellent, allowing him to get to a number of contests. He excels at stoppages and displays clean hands. Shows good courage and rarely fumbles the football. Can also go forward and influence the scoreboard.
Combine Results:
* Ranked 5th Beep test/shuttle run
* Ranked 4th 3km time trial result (mins:secs)
*Ranked 1st Kicking Efficiency Test

Pick 24). HAWTHORN – Dayle Garlett
Position: Medium forward
Height: 181cm
Weight: 75kg
Born: 9/1/94
Home club: Swan District:

The talented Sandgroper was one of those overlooked at last year's draft, with recruiters less concerned about his evident on-field abilities than his off-field temperament. The cousin of Carlton small forward Jeff, Garlett is a medium forward with a dynamic left foot which he uses well, both around goals and in setting up the play. He has the ability to find space consistently and excels at stoppages. He was an All Australian at Under 18s level in 2012 and has put himself firmly back into draft contention with an excellent senior year with Swan Districts, kicking 48 goals

Combine Results:
* Ranked 8th Agility Run Result (seconds)

Pick 25). BRISBANE – Darcy Gardiner
Position: Tall defender
Height: 193cm
Weight: 85kg
Born: 22/9/95
Home club: Geelong Falcons

An Under 18 All-Australian this year, Gardiner is arguably the best key defender available in a draft generally short on key position players. The 193cm prospect is competitive, resilient, aggressive and a fighter. Though a key defender he has versatility to be able to push forward and take a mark if required. His endurance impressed during the U18 champs as he willed himself to contest after contest and threw himself at the ball. Gathered five rebound 50s in three games for Vic Metro. Didn’t dominate the combine and being at 193cm of height, he might struggle against a gorilla type of a forward at the next level. I see him sliding because of this. With Maguire, Staker, Patfull, Merrett entering the twilight of their careers, the Lions need to start develop the next generation of defenders.

Pick 26). ESSENDON – Mitch Thorp
Position: Tall forward
Height: 194cm
Weight: 94kg
Born: 25/12/88
Home club: South Launceston

Enjoyed a sensational season as player/coach of South Launceston in Tasmania and insists he's matured greatly since being delisted by Hawthorn in 2009. There's been interest from AFL for the 194cm key forward and it's no surprise given he was recognised as the Tasmanian State League's best player and lead his side to this year's flag. The departure of Crameri and Gumbleton leaves a lack of depth of key position forwards on Essendon’s list. They need a mature key forward to can have an immediate impact.

Pick 27). GOLD COAST –Eli Templeton
Position: Midfielder
Height: 182cm
Weight: 75kg
Born: 19/8/95
Home club: Burnie Dockers

Eli Templeton was one of the standouts for Tasmania throughout the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. He averaged 22.5 disposals in the Championships and was a regular in Tasmania's best players. The nimble Templeton was among the strong performers in October's Draft Combine, coming in seventh in the 3km time trial, running 10m 5s, and placing fourth in the beep test with an elite 15.3.
Combine Results:
* Ranked 4th Beep test/shuttle run
* Ranked 7th 3km time trial result (mins:secs)

Pick 28). BRISBANE –Ben Sokol
Position: Medium forward
Height: 187cm
Weight: 86kg
Born: 28/10/95
Home club: South Fremantle

He is the number one endurance athlete in the WA U18s squad this season. Normally plays high half-forward but can roll through the midfield due to his running capability. Strong overhead and a good lead-up target for his size. He averaged a goal per game for WA at the National Championships and kicked 28 goals in 12 WAFL Colts matches this year for South Fremantle.

Pick 29). GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY – Richard Bourne
Position: Small forward/midfielder
Height: 178cm
Weight: 61kg
Born: 4/5/95
Home club: East Fremantle

Quick, agile small forward who possesses the ability to work up through the midfield on occasions due to his excellent speed/endurance combination. Can dispose of the football effectively on either side of his body, His ability to finish accurately in front of goal is a feature of his game.

Combine Results:
* Ranked 3rd Agility Run Result (seconds)
* Ranked 4th Clean Hands (Handball) Test Score (Efficiency %)
*Ranked 7nd 20 Meter Sprint Result (seconds)

Pick 30). NORTH MELBOURNE – Jay Kennedy-Harris
Position: Small midfielder/defender/forward
Height: 173cm
Weight: 68kg
Born: 21/3/95
Home club: Oakleigh Chargers

Has had a strong season for the Oakleigh Chargers and Vic Metro. This year he was announced co-captain of the Chargers with Will Maginness, becoming the first indigenous player to captain a TAC Cup side in the competition's history. An elusive small forward, Kennedy-Harris kicked just two goals from his four matches in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, but impressed by averaging 17 disposals, three tackles and 4.25 insides 50s a match. In round one against Queensland, he gathered 25 touches and kicked a goal.

Pick 31). WEST COAST – Patrick Cripps
Position: Midfielder
Height: 190cm
Weight: 90kg
Born: 18/3/95
Home club: East Fremantle

2013 U18 All-Australian, Cripps was one of Western Australia’s better performers in this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Cripps averaged 19 disposals in the Championships – many of which were contested. At 190cm and 90kg, the one-touch player is among the most highly regarded stoppage players in the draft. Cripps was among his state's most influential players in the final round of the Championships against SA, winning 21 possessions and nine clearances. His ability to work his way through traffic is excellent.

Pick 32). SYDNEY – James Battersby
Position: Small midfielder/defender/forward
Height: 177cm
Weight: 78kg
Born: 7/11/95
Home club: Sturt

Small defender/midfielder with excellent vision and use of the ball by hand and foot. Has already played at senior level with Sturt, where his great assets included composure and game sense. Capped off an outstanding Under-18 Championships by winning All-Australian honours.

Pick 33). BRISBANE –Darcy Byrne-Jones

Pick 34). BRISBANE – Louis Herbert
Position: Medium defender
Height: 188cm
Weight: 77kg
Born: 27/6/94
Home club: North Ballarat Rebels

Medium forward/defender who was a major improver in the 2013 season with the Rebels and Vic Country. His speed, strong marking and use of the ball are impressive. Won 2013 Coaches Award in TAC Cup competition.

Combine Results:
* Ranked 8th Repeat sprints (seconds)
* Ranked 7th Standing Vertical Jump (cm)
* Ranked 10th Running Vertical Jump Result (cms)

Pick 35). SYDNEY – Ben Brown
Position: Ruckman

Home club: Werribee

Developing, athletic ruckman who can take contested marks and is also competent at ground level for his size. Distributes the ball well to his midfielders. Comes from a basketball background and shows deft touch with his ruck work. Has developed the ability to push forward and present an imposing target.

Pick 39). CARLTON – Darcy Hourigan
Position: Tall forward
Height: 192cm
Weight: 92kg
Born: 18/9/95
Home club: South Adelaide

After a sensational NAB AFL Under-18 Championships with South Australia which earned him All-Australian honours. Hourigan is a physical beast, a strong-bodied forward who has experience playing senior SANFL football with South Adelaide which will set him up for an immediate start next season. Hourigan kicked 16 goals for SA in the U18s including a bag of five against Queensland. Against Vic Metro, he took nine marks, had five inside 50s and kicked three goals in a day which highlighted his credentials.

Really like the placing of these blokes above. I feel that's about where they will go on draft day.

Good stuff. :thumbsu:

Mundy in the twilight of his career? Freo need the best midfielder coming through? Dafuq? Mundy's basically in career best form. We've got Neale/Morabito/Simpson/Sheridan coming through. Fremantle need to go after a KPF, that's just a fact.

If the draft goes like this i would be very happy. would not hope for a better outcome. but i reckon Ash will go before 6 and Bontempelli before 10, but i am no expert on these things. I hope you a right.

Also this has been are very informative mock draft. I learned things about the players the other mocks did not tell me. Well done. What is your background in this area? Where have you got your Knowledge from? you seem to know your stuff.

In regards to the Lions picks I think that you've done a good job in the type of players that we will be targeting. The two 'smokies' that you picked in the thirties are a but of a reflection on the type of drafting that we have shown previously in picking players from nowhere or not highly BF rated. A good job overall

Good effort with your draft. It's gutsy doing one because we all love to be a critic.
For Port Adelaide I understand why you selected a tall but I seriously doubt we will.
Now to be critical, I can't see Garlett or Thorpe featuring in the top 40. Also I think Darcy Gardiner will find his way to Freo at 17 if McCarthy is gone. In any case he'll go between 12 and 20.
All in all, it's pretty good as we're all very subjective when it comes to these things.

Given that Harvey and Marsh were gone I'd be happy with Thorp at 26. Who do you see us taking with 55?

I see you have Battersby at 32 for Sydney - I'd seriously love that to be a lock, reckon he'll go in the 20's personally. If things fall as you predict then Sydney will have a tough choice at 35 - Lobb/Brown (need a ruck) or Bourke/Robertson - who if we missed out on Acres in the first round would be a super back up options.

I also see you don't have Merritt in your top 40, I'd expect top 25 on draft day

Interesting you see the Swans picking up Brown at 35 ahead of Lobb. ive not heard much about him, what makes him a better option than Lobb and Apeness.?
