Geez, I was worried when I saw OzBomber as the op!

A two Test series, between these two sides, is a disgrace :(

It's definitely a disgrace, but I wonder how much of it has to do with the fact that neither South Africa nor Australia want to tour at the height of their respective summers? Cricket Australia wouldn't want to forego the Boxing Day revenue but in order to stage a five test series against South Africa in South Africa, Australia would have to tour in December-January.

3 is enough, leave the 5 tests for england.

the saffas wanted to squeeze in another t20 instead of a test, blame them.

I couldn't care less if there is never another 5-Test series between any 2 nations. Leave it to 2, 3 and 4-Test series. We could have easily played 3 against South Africa. We can't be playing 5-Test series if we are supposed to play every nation twice within a 4-5 year period.

Ashes should, and will be, 5 Tests.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree. But we've even had 6-Test Ashes series, and that's just bullshit. If I had to choose between
- 2 Tests against South Africa and 5 Tests against England, and
- 3 Tests against South Africa and 4 Tests against England

I'd definitely go with the latter.

Two test series just makes no sense. Needs to be at least three. Whats the point?

just as we say test cricket is alive and well....west indies 3 for 5.3 million after 2 days on a pancake in mumbai

I am also a fan of uneven number of tests, seriously two? there was only 2 different outcomes possible , either 2-0 or 1-1..

If I could be bothered, I'd look up the results stats for the past year or so. I reckon about 1 in 5 Tests are drawn, thus you're more chance of having a drawn 5 Test series than a drawn 4 Test series. If we play 5 Ashes Tests here, do we not play another nation that Summer or do we play another 2-3 Tests? I think we only want 6 Tests each Summer and that means 4-2 or 3-3.

People saying it needs to be an even number are totally discounting draws. Big oversight.

However in this case I agree 2 is too few. It feels cheapened.

The Big Bash and the return of Warnie will kill the Indian Tests this summer.

I believe they are being played at the same time.

Or the tests during the day and the Big Bash at night.

Only Indians living in Australia will rock up for the test matches.

Aussies will go to the Big Bash to see Warnie.
