Im happy enough As long as starc actually earns a spot in the team as one of the best 3 quicks and not just get a free ride because he's another leftie who from to time bowls an unplayable in swinger to a righthander.

thats a joke right?
starch in the 3 best bowlers for Australia. he wouldn't in the best 3 for NSW let alone Australia, like Johnson can bowl the unplayable delivery but the rest of the time bowls utter rubbish, weather he can swing the ball back to the right hander any decent bowler can bowl or learn that, but doesn't make up for the rap that he bowls on most other occasions

I was clearly stating starc must prove himself to be a top 3 bowler to play tests not that i think he is currently in that position.

I personally don't think he's close to being one of our top 5 bowlers, he's there because he's a leftie who from time to time bowls a miracle ball to good right handers, sounds a lot like another bloke we carried for two years....

No doubt Beer deserves his spot. O'Keefe has done nothing. Not worth mentioning. John Holland is before him.

And Brad Hogg...

Important question is, how many test drop catches will Haddin deliver?

Wade dropped one at the international level, albeit a dolly, Haddin had a fair few this summer past. His shield and club form was pretty crap as well.

fixed :)

O'Keefe's done plenty and is well worth mentioning. Very good spinning all-rounder.

irony much that O'keefe has had a great career and one bad year and he's rubbish, but players who have had rubbish careers and one great year are the next test player.

I agree that THIS year on his current form, he didn't deserve selection, but he has been the best spinner in state cricket for a two seasons preceding.

Warner
Cowan
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Wade
Siddle
Pattinson
Harris
Lyon/Hilfenhaus (would be Ben, but he's had a pretty average follow through since the tests)
Why would we have 5 seamers in the attack, with the best spinner being Warner? Thats just crazy, a spinner is required in the team, even in the West Indies. I would say this would be the side:

Warner
Cowan
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin
Siddle
Pattinson
Hilfenhaus
Lyon

Agree to an extent with posts that Starc is only in consideration because hes a lefty who swings it.

But hes still young, and has been quite impressive I think. Has a nice strong and simple action, unlike Johnson, plus he's not worried about his hair as much.

Having good left hand bowlers who can swing the ball is a pretty valuable component. Look everywhere in cricket - players who are not in the best X1 in the country still get gigs because of the team requirements. Australian spinners are prime examples. There is no way you can say the likes of Hauritz, Beer, McGain, and Doherty are in the top 10 best bowlers in the country. Warney was the last spinner who was. And maybe Lyon has crept in there - but remember a few years ago he was a groundsman at the Adelaide Oval.

Reason for this I think is that bowling spin is dorky. Chicks dont dig it either. People would rather hit ****s in the head over tweeking it from the rough. Warne made leg spin cool but now his gone, there is no decent leg spinners anywhere.
