I originally put this in the Commentary and Media thread, but thinking about it, he deserves a separate thread;

The cat is out of the bag; Heath O'Laughlin is leaving NMFC after 13 years as the media boss, to go be a big-wig at the NBL.

Heath indisputably made NMFC a better footy club, and the work he did behind the scenes to raise our profile in the media was massive.

Big loss. He's a true North man.

Massive loss. Completely revolutionised our media department. Hopefully his vision for what the club can promote itself as lives on through his staff.

Was genuinely regarded as the highest standard industry-wide and universally respected among the media. For a club like ours, club-led media and engagement is so ****ing important to our continued existence, let alone success. Heath's work is a huge part of the strong position that the club finds itself in off the field. Huge loss.

Impossible to replace Heath for what he's done for the club, he brought it into the professional environment for content and coverage that it is today, built off the back of his hard work 13 years ago when social media and internet coverage of AFL as a sport was but a twinkle in the eye of most clubs out there, he was ahead of the game in a lot of areas and constantly kept us evolving as to how we can broadcast the club better to the fans and to the wider public.

Media management is hard, really hard. I've been there, and handling that whilst still keeping up with the rapidly changing tech and platforms isn't easy, especially when you have to do all that plus get eyes on the product.

Very sad to see him go, but he's a supremely talented individual so best of luck to him.

Agree - Heath's management and development of our overall media platform has been superb.

Huge job to fill. Heath you have been amazing for all of us and for the club as well. Love that you were always prepared to do the work and gave us so many insights into the inner workings of the club and understand who the North Melbourne people really were. NBL are very lucky to have you.

Highlights for me - The Cunners mic'd up at training video, the Training with Majak clips, AFLW gameday pieces and the interviews with ancillary staff who do all the vital jobs around the club.
