Talk about Adam Johnson leaving City are non-sensical. He just signed a new contract. He wouldnt of signed it if he was going to hand in a transfer request and City would have offered it if they didnt want to keep him

City are going need to sell a few bodies. Time to send Kolarov on his way. Too expensive for seemingly a backup LB. Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Wayne Bridge obviously. Dzeko should go as well and Kolo Toure should be farmed off and a cheaper alternative should be sought. A bloke like Clint Dempsey would suit the squad perfectly I think. A move to steal Jan Vertonghen away from Tottenham (bargain buy) couldnt hurt either.

I don't belive it myself but that is been reported on a few sites.

Not happy with Bayern Munich.

He had a massive sook after spending a bit of time on the bench near the end of the season. I cant see him leaving however. If he did leave he wouldnt leave the Bundesliga anyway. How many Germany players are running around outside the Bundesliga really?

Just had a look. 4 of the whole squad and 2 of them are at Real Madrid. One at Lazio after a ton of time in the Bundesliga(last pay day) and Mertesacker

But how difficult is it going to be for them to offload guys like Adebayor, Kolarov, RSC, Bridge, Toure. All on massive wages. Obviously bringing in money isnt an issue so they will be happy to lose those guys for small fees just cant see them all taking massive pay cuts.

Adebayor will go easily after his top season with Tottenham. Should get 10 mill back even with high wages. (say 10 mill to City, 5 mill sign on fee for Adebayor to make up for cut in wages). Kolarovs wages wouldnt be too big of a deal for a top 4 club in the Serie A. Can see him going for 6-8 mill even on his wages

RSC is at Real Betis and they have a 4 mill buyout IIRC. Bridge would just be loaned out I think. Kolo Toure nearly went to PSG last season. I think a club may still have interest in him. Dont think they would get a big fee for him though (say 5 mill). Still a good player, just a bit old for the backup role

not exactly sure why dzeko should go at all.

bridge isnt moving. bobby basically blasted him for preferring to play gof rather than for his spot. plus he's terrible
rsc is probably off to betis.
i like kolarov, but he is a rather costly lb. wouldnt mind him becoming a winger, rekik has shown he can be backup lb.
adebayor, good player, says he donates some of his wages to charity. will probably be loaned out again
kolo showed his age a bit during the season and made some defensive errors. will probably be kept around for yaya tho.

He will be too far down the pecking order next season + IMO he will fetch a huge fee from a club like Juventus even with his wages. One of those players id sell to buy a more versatile and cheaper player like Dempsey who can cover Dzekos aerial threat off the bench + plug a few other holes if need be

I see your point....but he is already a backup player, and with City aggressively looking to buy in more top end talent he must surely consider his future....plus he was dropped from the England squad due to limited gametime and that must really change things

In reality wages, titles, CL football isnt that easy to walk away from even if you arnt getting much game time. Still got 19 starts and 25 sub appearances last season so it was hardly a massively barren run

Man City wont be looking to buy any more top end talent. They cant afford it. Now its time to maintain. Even still the wide areas is one area they wont be spending on its fair to say.

I see your point...I just also see reason for him to leave. Most noticeably is his exclusion from the England Squad...by next World cup he would want to be a regular but questions must be asked if staying at man City as a fringe player is going to help achieve that.

But as a Liverpool supporter all I can do is hope and focus to the reason why he MIGHT join us...gotta have something to feel promise about

I think Mancini is actively looking to bring in at leat one wide player. And if a top end wide player is available I'm sure we'd fund some pennies under the sofa.

yeah and didnt they fight hard to get Hazard and are right into Persie? Im sure they wont quit finding a big name signing. By the end of transfer they will probably spend towards 100 million like always...there owner has way too much money. Lucky bastard

I think you are completely wrong here. Playing time is PARAMOUNT. I know there is a lot of money in football and some mercenary's out there. But 95% of footballers play football because they love the game and want to play. 19 starts is nothing in a league season. 25 sub appearances are you usually no more than 30 mins. Sometimes 5 mins, 2 mins. He lost his England place because he wasnt playing. He will want playing time simple as that.

I play sport, ever since I was a kid, I have played basketball. Id rather be on a team in the starting 5 and playing 40 mins a night than being on the best team around and warming the bench.

Also titles dont feel great when you play a limited role in them. It's nice but its not the same as playing 35+ league games and scoring goals and creating goals. That way you feel you earnt it. Coming off the bench, starting a few games, it doesnt feel like you have won it. Playing CL doesnt mean much if you're not actually playing in the games.

I dont think you quite understand what kind of money these blokes will be on. They will have to take massive paycuts to play for other teams. I dont think Betis have any plans to make RSC permanent considering how goal shy he was all season. 7 goals in 33 I think. Not great. Should be able to loan out Adebayor easily enough but selling him? He would be easily on over 100k a week. Nobody is gonna pay a fee and then a huge signing on fee to cover his lost wages. Bridge is going nowhere cos he is on big wages and is also epically shit. Of the lot, maybe you could flog off Kolarov.

You paid £35m for Carroll. A club that signs Ade for £10m, pays him a few million to encourage him to compromise on wages is still getting a good deal. RSC will be hard to shift, but he's not on that big a wage. Bridge we couldnt even give away.

As for Johnson, I like him and he does have a lot of ability.

But I'm struggling to think of too many 90 minute performances from him. In fact as a starter he has been largely disappointung. As a sub maybe 50/50 between good and meh performances.

If he wants to play week in week out he's probably better placed in a midtable team rather than one with aims of breaking into the top 4.

Still happy for him to stay as a squad player mind.

need a quality mid...Johnson would be a nice signing and perhaps possible as liverpool can offer him max games and he can come help and be partly credited in pushing us back up the table and earn his international spot back...just like downing last last...oh wait :D

na seriously Johnson would be about as big as I expect our spending to get...and rest will be free agents and players 10 million or less

Don't buy this. Both Ramirez's agent and the Bologna chief confirmed Liverpool had made a bid of €20m for him, but that it had gone on hold while we changed managers and they waited for potentially bigger offers. Whether we get him or not is another question entirely, but you don't make a bid like that if you apparently don't have the money to spend. I dont think any of us know for sure how much FSG are going to be investing in this transfer window beyond speculation originating in tabloid articles.

The last window when we supposedly used up all their money only ended up being approximately a £30m outlay for them as player sales covered the majority of it, so it's not like they've put an enormous investment into the club beyond the initial purchase. I don't know how much is in the transfer kitty, but Werner & Henry have talked the talk and said on many occasions they have the £££ to compete with anyone, let's see if they walk the walk this summer. It's absolutely pivotal for the future of the club that they do because while we're down now, there's no way in a million years anyone associated with Liverpool will accept that as the norm with the resources at their disposal. If they were happy with it then they wouldn't have sacked half the coaching staff. People talk about being delusional, it's not delusion, it's ambition and we're not going to get back to the top with this pathetic "accept we're a mid-table club" attitude some people are peddling. City were in the Championship 10 years ago & look where ambition has got them.

If anything, for me it would be poor business sense not to invest in this window to jump start the club & give us that last little push into the top 4. If they don't, it's risking another season without Champions League football and the revenue that comes with it both in TV rights & more commercial investment in the club which I'm sure is not what FSG want.

Smuda's on record linking us to Lewandowski.

I'd have him, but I'm not sure what this would mean for teh likes of Welbeck and Hernandez in terms of their development. Would rather a target man before going for another fox in the box

smuda said that he was good enough to play for united, not that he was going there. he said the same about piszczek and madrid.

watching the argentina/brazil friendly, and one player that's stood out in the first 15 minutes, besides the big names, is inter cb juan jesus. strong on the ball with a nice turn of pace, drawn comparisons to lucio, and rightly so. will be a very good player in a few years once he matures more
