I was referring to the Carlton BF board which I occasionally read for amusement. Perhaps you're familiar with it?

The truth is Bucks does have a game plan. I got access to a transcript of his pre game speech against the Dogs. I have posted it below.

Buckly Speaking Pre Game

"Ok boys, we have been working all pre season to get this game plan down pat. I want to see it in action today. My very own Chaos Theory game plan. Where we do what nobody expects us to do which will lead to unexpected results.

Now. Game one against the Hawks I was disappointed. We had a large spread of goal scorers and a flowing game style. THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. Now today I want you all to kick it to Cloke, no matter what happens. Clokey! if you lead then you have a better chance of marking the ball. This goes against Chaos Theory game plan, so today I want you to stand on the spot and wait for the ball to be bombed on your head. Do not look for space.

Guys there is every chance that Cloke will get triple teamed and the ball will come to ground. Faz, Blair, Varcoe, the opposition is going to expect you to be front and centre so make sure you are not there. That goes for all you guys. I don't want to see anyone at the fall of the ball because that is too predictable. If no one is there it is going to confuse the hell out of the opposition.

Sinkers. You listening mate. Good. You are one of our worst kicks. I can't say you are the worst because so many of you guys are terrible kicks it's hard to tell who the worst is. Great recruiting on my behalf for my game plan. If I see anyone who is a decent kick take the kick ins I will lose my head. Tay, go for your life mate. If your in the area I have no problems for you to chip in and take a few.

Goody, Maynard, Mateit, Abbott you guys know that NAB is usually the time when young guys and new recruits get given the opportunity to show their stuff. Therefore you guys will not be playing. Chaos Theory requires me to do the unexpected. Sorry guys.

Now I don't want to harp on about how disappointed I was with the NAB 1 game against the Hawks what with all that flow and linking up etc but I don!t want to see it today. Guys if your going to handball to someone have a good look first. Make sure your team mate is flat footed and has an opposition player breathing down his neck before you handball to him. Its brilliant. The opposition is going to expect you to pass to the guy who has made space and is moving, but your going to confuse the hell out of them by giving off to the flat footed team mate. It's genius I tell you.

Faz, really disappointed with your effort against the Hawks. You were taking contested marks, kicking straight, tackling etc.How is that part of Chaos Theory. Listen mate your on your last chance. I want to see a lack of effort from you today. I thought Maxy made it clear to you last year but you don't seem to want to learn.

Ok guys now get out there and do what I wouldn't expect you to do. Make sure the coaching staff and the supporters haven't got a bloody clue about what we are doing. We have worked hard all year on this and now it is time to put it into practice. Now get out there and show me what you are not capable of."

I remember thinking this myself in 2009 when Sinclair was picked in the draft. Evidently, Buckley who hadn't taken up his assistant coach position with the club, rang Mick and Derek while they were sitting at the table on draft day. He told them to pick Sinclair or he wouldn't come back to the club. Mick got so upset and nervous, he told Hine to just give Bucks whatever he wanted. It's a story so few people know....

Bomber Thompson would be number 1 for me from whats available, rate Scott Burns, Robert Harvey, Blake Caracella as future head coaches. Brenton Sanderson was sacked prematurely

Pretty strong defence of Bucks by Wayne Carey in The Age today. Pretty positive given Carey hasn't always been a fan.

Nathan Buckley is another – though more bullish – former great who is also attempting to make his mark as coach of the club he represented with distinction: a Brownlow, Norm Smith, six club best and fairests and a whopping seven All-Australian honours.

Much has already been said about Buckley this year and whether he is coaching for his future. I don't doubt that he'll be there in 2016 and it's not because his boss, Eddie McGuire, has said so. After all, how many times have we heard that coaches are safe, only for them to be turfed the next day?

No, I truly believe that Buckley now has the full support of his players. He has certainly done things the hard way by having his own clean-out of players, but the Magpies showed last year that they were a club united.

No one could have foreseen the challenges they faced, yet try, try and try the players did. Despite what people say, there is such a thing as an honourable loss and Collingwood's 2014 season could be defined as just that. Missing the finals wasn't because of a lack of effort.

Only time will tell if the Black and White army rallies behind Buckley again this year, but if it does, his job should be guaranteed – regardless of where the Magpies finish on the ladder

That should bring smiles to the faces of a lot of fans after so many rumours and so much innuendo about his ability to unite them. Of course I would always take anything that Carey says with a fairly large grain of salt but the fact is, historically he has not been one to praise Bucks one iota. It does make you take notice.

Carey's article is well timed for us. He was writing some positive stuff about Bucks last season too. Maybe the relationship between these two has 'matured'.

I'm no fan of Carey, for a range of reasons, but he has tried to put his murky past behind him, and rebuild his media career. Good luck to him.

Insightful article from Carey confirming what was already largely known that the young players have gotten around Buckley and have owned the direction he is taking.

Unfortunately the decision to retain Buckley or otherwise in this instance will be made by the supporter base. Our issues largely revolve around our ability to move the ball and our ability to restrict how the opposition move the ball. We have failed to improve or regressed in those areas across 3 seasons and the member base, to a degree, is losing patience.

At the end of the day whether or not the players buy into the message is largely irrelevant if the message isn't correct!
