He did very very very well.

If it interests you, there are some great you tubes around of him getting roasted pre President says.
Plus some of his great jokes when President.

Was a great communicator - whatever your politics
Cheers will have a look, there's been some great orators from the U.S. John F Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Barack Obama, Bobby Kennedy. Edward Kennedy at Bobbys funeral brings me to tears

Bill Clinton is very good.

He did a recent series with George W and they both like each other, so that was good too.

They do the ex leader far better than we do ex PMs.

If he does get a new deal hopefully he can take some learnings from yesterday's game into next season. For mine it was his best coaching performance this year.

Goldsack forward shows him we need someone who can apply forward pressure. Maynard in the guts was a good move. Gave us grunt but also someone with depth in their kicking and Moore going back late was a great move which helped keep melbourne out of it.

For a bloke who was and attacking footballer he has been way to conservative and stubborn. Yesterday proved you can mix it up and get good results.

I briefly caught some footage yesterday post-game and Buckley was hugging his wife and kids and they looked to be having a pretty obvious family moment - didn't seem like a guy that knew he was staying to me.

Might not be the right thread but....
Reading this book - origins of Cwood suburb and emergence of CFC supporter. A few BF posters might score (dis) honourable mentions...

Agree we should show more respect to our PMs and former PMs. Not the oz way

We don't have much of a bunch to choose from:

Hawke - good PM and probably still respected
Keating - great orator - ended up being wound up by his own French clocks
Howard - effective PM - not that likeable "non-core promises" etc
Rudd - architect of NBN (thanks for nothing) and detested by his own party
Gillard - knifed Rudd - electorally toxic in the end and replaced by Rudd (again)
Abbott - what can you say? anyone who knights Prince Phillip deserves what they get
Turnbull - quite impressed with himself - Brendan Nelson described him as having "narcissistic personality disorder", made a further mess of the NBN
Shorten - FMD if he becomes PM

ie - exactly what is there to respect?

Seems more and more likely that Bucks will get an extension.
I don't agree with it but if it happens I will back him to the hilt and go into next year full of optimism.
Still desperately want to see him succeed.
Would be great if he made a lot of us including me eat humble pie.

Agreed.
And i still see enough in his gameplan that if the group was able to take the next step and make finals, that we could beat anyone once we're there.

But we havent been able to take that step yet, and dont look any closer to doing so - which is why i also wouldnt agree with him staying... but if he does I would support him still

I dont think he's been told either way to be honest. It is probably true the board hasnt made that decision (and maybe they are still feeling out other coaches to see who might be available).

I want the board to look at every possible opportunity before deciding what they do, and that might mean Bucks still has a little bit of uncertainty left to go.

To me the position. Do agree last few leaders have been average at best. In the U.S, Trump is a disaster and a complete embarrassment but the position of President is still revered

Now now SV don't be too cynical,
I also saw a bit into what Venkman is talking about.
Yeah maybe nothing in it but I am sure his whole family doesn't embrace him like that after every game.
It could be "well done love on your last game",
It could be "well done love the boys just showed why you deserve to stay on"
Whatever it was it wasn't just a run of the mill family hug

must admit I chuckled when I saw your quick response

It's a little presumptuous on your behalf to make such comments when you've only be on this forum for 2 months.

Surely this thread has enough points of conflict in it already, without the need to litter it with former Prime Ministers?

The boys have no idea if daddy is staying on or not. Unsure they even get that part.

Might even be hugs as end of season or maybe the simplest thing of all,
It's been a good tough few weeks, speculation, playing, coaching, everything,
It's done for the year and now I Just love my kids.....

This is not the military or the Catholic Church - what has length of time on this forum got to do with it? I remember when I first joined another poster commented on how some members here seem to want to "pounce" on new members as if there is some sort of hierarchy or direct relationship between length of time on forum and quality / relevance of posts

Hmmm. Your right, we could just regurgitate the same Schitt for another 500 pages.
Anything which deflects this thread from the actual topic is a relief :)

I know what you're saying, Otto, but right now the thread is clearly divided between the pro and anti-Buckleys, and I suspect that the introduction of politics will confuse these very simple lines. I need clarity in my life...
