When we recieved 4 extra rookie spots i thought cool because we have NGA s and a gun F/s . I couldnt care less about williams but Evans and Banfield are obvious talent and we recycle a couple of spuds delisted

Anyone who watched our 4 club-tied players clearly would have seen Banfield & Evans as bigger needs. Williams shot up the rankings due to his combine despite similar output to Walley.

By all reports the Cripps deal was done months ago yet they just announced last week under the cover of the draft build up.
To crawl off the bottom the club needs to make the most of every little % chance.

Massey and the recruiters go out and scout the kids, interviews and develop rankings.

Clarke and the list management team manages trades, contracts, list spots etc to get the list in shape for what McQualter wants.

Then it all comes together at trade and draft period.

The **** up is on Clarke, he is an absolute buffoon who needs to go.

There is collective blame - this is not just on Clarke or Massey

Exactly this. I don't know how anybody can truly believe they've been brought in to be the building blocks towards future success.

Again as a club we've gotten ourselves into a mess because from the outside looking in it looks we have become sloppy and are not doing the little things right.

The club may not rate those players but if they did some pretty basic list management they could have had at least one list spot open to have a free swing without costing us anything (moving Cripps to the rookie list).

You can say these things don't matter and we should just be happy and trust the right decisions have been made. I feel like that's how the club has been operating for quite a while, it's only a small thing - it doesn't matter. Well if enough little things aren't looked after you might finish bottom 4 four years in a row and have the worst season in AFL history.

Last paragraph says it all for me.

I cracked it last night over trading away a second round pick to move up one spot, then missing who I assume was our target. Is Lindsay an objectively bad pick? Probably / hopefully not. A defender with elite kicking isn't a fundamentally bad choice at that point in the draft. But did we really give up Liam Ryan for an unders pick, to throw that pick away to climb one spot and place two academy bids and end up with Lindsay? If that was the master plan - then . That is some master planning and trolling all in one.

There have just been so many decisions in recent years that individually feel like we've lost our edge. We seem to get fleeced and play nice on every trade. Our 'advantage' this year came courtesy of the absurd free agency compensation formula and AFL handouts. Pick 1 and 2 we went with the picks most draft observers expected to go one and two, but at least one of those picks is a choice we aren't convinced fills a list gap we have. We missed the opportunity to put pressure on Carlton and leverage a swap of picks that could have turned our original Pick 13 into something higher while Essendon and North swooped - made the bizarre trade to move up one spot - then fumbled the opportunity to utilise the inequity the F/S rules provide to bring in a potentially quality player for virtually nothing.

I haven't posted in ages, but been reading the comments - and ultimately it comes back to one thing for me. Many Eagles supporters have simply lost trust / faith in the club to make good decisions and at present there is virtually 0 good faith to see a decision be made and wait for things to unfold.

But it wouldn't cost us any draft capital to match at this point, we've assessed that another year of Cripple-cripps and Barnett-zero disposals are worth more than the punt on Banfield or Evans.

Would you agree with that assessment?

10 fumbly games from Cripps and 10 disposals in the WAFL are worth more than the chance that Banners and Evans become B22?

This is not about comparing draftees, we only needed main list spots.

there’s the issue mate. Barnett was the highest rated ruck of his class and has turned out to be both a dud and a squib. No heart and has had think three good games in his entire wafl career.

I understand giving a highly touted ruck extra time, I do, but believe me, he’s been probably the biggest flop we’ve drafted based on potential since Brander

We don’t know if we rated anyone higher that Banfield when he was picked. We didn’t have a list spot to pick him or anyone else we rated higher

So as in we have already signed them on or that still has to officially be done like tomorrow? If so then there is the ability to reneg and pick a slider from the draft instead (albeit a crappy thing to do to someone you have promised a contract to).

We picked up 3 of the best kids in the land and added Williams who is a silky forward craft player and another forward.

We've also added 3 other players that have experience in the AFL which is what we ALL know we needed more than flooding our side with more 18 year Olds ffs.

You ****s complain when we get belted by 100 points every week but complain just as hard when we don't draft 500 18 year olds who would deliver the same results without mature experienced players to help and protect them.

Banfield and Evans...they won a Brownlow have they?
There's no guarantee on any player including duursma....or have you all forgotten about jack watts?
