There is a reason that in a fair society the onus is always on the accuser. SOS said the Trigg situation didn’t play out how Caro said it did. He was actually there. He actually experienced it. If someone who wasn’t even there wants to claim otherwise, they should at least be required to produce something of substance in order to warrant being believed ... shouldn’t they? If that doesn’t make sense to you, then I question your standards.

But if you wanna differentiate rumours from a legal system then that’s fair. I just feel like journalism should be supported by hard facts rather than rumours. This is obviously my personal judgment which is what is going to seperate you and others that view it the same.

It won’t and can’t ever happen. For journos to provide fact, they’d need to provide a quote from a source. Once that happens their source never speaks to them again and they never break news.

If Caro had come out and said she had heard the janitor at carlton is actually in charge, people would question it. People can make their own decision based on available information as they are doing here, there is no issue with it, just as carlton fans are making the decision to believe their club.

I don’t think it’s exactly far fetched to believe that people at carlton would listen to SOS, even outside his official capacity.

It honestly reminds me of Melbourne with schwab. It was said he had much more control than he should, there was no hard evidence at the time, but it was widely reported (I thought it was true at the time). Everything that’s come out since has shown it to be true.

What is a hard fact?

Good journo’s look to have a couple of sources that can corroborate their story...but they aren’t always necessarily willing to put their name to it.

I recall Caro writing articles about Swan and his late night antics, Pies weren’t happy at the time...but once he retired Swan has admitted it.

So when multiple media commentators are suggesting SoS has more influence at Carlton than what his PD details...it make sense to me anyway.
