I think Green's dual 40s on a deck that nobody could score runs on in the most recent test is notable enough that when combined with Webster's poor shield form it matters.

Pro Webster's arguments would be able to hang their hat on a lot more if he'd just managed to get a 50 in his 4 shield innings - even in poor form otherwise (averaging 20 or whatever) - to the start the season, but he couldn't even manage that.

Green at his best is clearly a better bat and prospect, I had no issue with him getting first crack and there isn’t room for both of them. He’s clearly not near his best, his head isn’t right. Has batted five times and had three of the most brain dead dismissals you’ll ever see. I have real worries if we keep rewarding him for playing shit cricket, that he’ll keep playing shit cricket

Webster has averaged 50 over the last three seasons and 30 games of Shield cricket. Not sure why so much emphasis has been put on his last two games

It’s all meaningless though. If he didn’t get dropped after last Test, he is never getting dropped. Hopefully the blind faith in him pays off, it didn’t for Marsh
