Yeah I picked it up today, got the copy that included iron man 1+2, Thor, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk.
Man this movie looks so good on Blu ray

Region B Blurays don't include the audio commentary from Joss Whedon. If you want that you'll have to go to amazon.com.

I thought that was missing when I checked it out yesterday, that shit pisses me off.

Apparently Joss Whedon recorded it too late for it to be included on the Region B editions without delaying the release.

I'm the same person who has whinged about it on other forums, but they must have some new fendangled copy protection on the dvd version. I've tried playing it on several dvd players, as well as on my pc...... it won't play at all.

I will have to watch the blu-ray version and see what happens there, but i have read that it will probably require a firmware upgrade. Which is fine as i'll use the ps3..... but my ps3 has never been able to play blu-ray movies properly (every movie "shakes" much like it's one of the Bourne movies..... even though it wasn't filmed on a hand camera).

On that I have no doubt. I meant their film licenses. Saying that, a co-production with Sony for Spiderman isn't out of the realms of possibility. Avengers 2 is a guaranteed money machine.
I think this actually makes it less likely. Marvel don't need Spider-Man or the X-Men to make Avengers 2 a raging success. I can't see why they'd want to share the box with Sony just for the sake of having them in there.

Yeah, Avengers made so much money minus Spider-man and X-Men why would they share? Sure it's a nerd dream to have a full Avengers list, but the bump from geeks going 6 times to see it instead of 5 isn't going to come close to what they'd lose in sharing the box office.

There are still Avengers they can add who aren't tied up with Sony or others rights if they want to expand the cast (which if they added more than one or two would make it too large anyway IMO).

It may be simpler than that. Fox and Sony have the rights to the X-Men and Spiderman as long as they churn out a related title on a regular basis (one every three years I believe). This is why Fox lost Daredevil. In fact, Marvel offered Daredevil in exchange for the character rights to Silver Surfer and Galactus but it fell through. My point is, it doesn't have to be shared billing. It can be a mutual agreement that the Spiderman character agreement is extended giving Sony a chance to make more movies that will gross hundreds of millions without compromising the quality of the movie. The Amazing Spiderman was released this year because it had to be, end quality aside. And having Spiderman in Avengers 2 would build more excitement for Amazing Spiderman 3. It's good business for all.

interesting points

when hawkeyes plane flew near the avengers flying base, no one on deck even detected it on radar? they had state of the art technology ffs!!

iron man vs thor - battle of the forest. iron man only use his hand to hand fighting skills. why no unleash a series of missiles?

There's always going to be holes in movies like this but with Hawkeye's plane didn't he give the call or codes as he was coming in, they knew it was there.

And with the Iron Man battle, Stark knew all about Thor and that he wasn't an enemy, probably just a bit of a pissing contest.

IMO they're really doing all the tie ins and references well, I watched the three 'one shot' mini movies the other day.... I suppose really minor spoiler ahead.

The main one Item 47 is about a couple finding one of the enemies guns after the avengers battle. Under the end credits are all the blue prints as they retro engineer it for Shield use (same as the gun Coulson uses in avengers was from the Thor baddy) so they're all ready for use in the Shield TV series.

Looking forward to that one, think they'll be enough money and interest in it that they'll do it well and it'll probably end up more pirated than Game of Thrones.

Watched this on the plane. Turned it off after an hour because it was boring. Didn't see the appeal.

So Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen have signed on for Avengers 2 as Quiksilver and Scarlet Witch respectively, Paul Rudd is just about dusted as Ant-Man, Benicio Del Toro's Collector looks like having a bigger role in Avengers 2 as well as Guardians Of The Galaxy and the Ultron plot may or may not lead to the personification of Paul Bettany's Jarvis as The Vision...

Firstly, jeez Marvel are nailing some esteemed actors still for this universe (add Glenn Close to GOTG and Robert Redford to Winter Soldier).

Secondly... Does it seem that it may all be getting a tad bloated? It was certainly inevitable with such a large roster as the Avengers but when you then take into account that Black Panther and Namor are almost certainties to be added eventually and that the Netflix series of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and Jessica Jones could very well link in (and surely must with Daredevil in particular), could there potentially be too much to handle on screen as we head into the third movie which looks geared to be heading in the Infinity Gauntlet direction?

I would not be surprised to see Marvel take the Hobbit/Harry Potter path and one or both of the next two movies be split giving us essentially 4-5 Avengers films away from standalone projects.
